Comeau GORHAM - George A. Comeau, 81, of Gorham, died on Monday, March 12, 2001, at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin. Born on Jan. 23, 1920, in Northumberland, he was the son of Eusebe and Elizabeth (Brennan) Comeau. Mr. Comeau was extremely patriotic, having served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of Holy Family parish, Local Union 75, V.F.W. Post 2520, and the Eagles. He had been employed by the Brown Co. as a boiler operator until his retirement in July, 1979. He enjoyed reading, solving crossword puzzles, taxidermy and the outdoors. He had been known as the "Cole Slaw Chef" at the local Berlin Kentucky Fried Chicken, which had been owned by his wife, Muriel, for a number of years. He was a devoted husband and father who his children said was always there for them. Survivors include his current wife, Muriel L. (Roy) Comeau of Gorham; his first wife, Anita Comeau of Berlin; one daughter, Debra Judson of Stark; two sons, David Comeau and Douglas Comeau of Berlin; one brother, Al Comeau of Rocky Hill, Conn.; three grandchildren; six stepchildren; and 11 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gordon McNaney, and two sisters, Minnie Lampier and Catherine Perron. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 22 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Church. There will be no calling hours at the request of the family.
