Rich, 74, of Groveton died at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon after a brief illness. Born in Whitefield on January 19, 1927, he was the son of Nelson and Adrienne (Gonthier) Rich. He lived most of his life in Groveton and was a graduate of Groveton High School, class of 1945. He was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Church, the American Legion Post 17 and was a past member of the Groveton Trailblazers. He loved golfing with his friends. Before retiring in 1989, he worked for 28 years for James River Corporation. He was a World War II veteran of the Army. Mr. Rich is survived by a son, David Rich, of Gorham; two daughters, Mary Fran Rich of Lancaster and Melissa Couture of Pembroke; four grandchildren; a brother, John Rich, of Groveton; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 43 years, Frances Rich, on September 16, 2000. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Northumberland Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Leo's name to the Groveton Ambulance Corps, c/o E.R. Mason, 1 Arlington Ave., Groveton, NH 03582. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Main-Armstrong Funeral Home.
