Astle WHITEFIELD - Marcella F. Astle, 86, of Whitefield and Sarasota, Fla., died on March 22, 2001 at Doctors Hospital in Sarasota after a brief illness. She was born on January 26, 1915 in Colebrook, and was the daughter of John Finley and Chloe (Haines) Finley. She graduated from Colebrook Academy and Keene State College. She taught Home Economics at Kennett, Whitefield and Lancaster High Schools. For nearly a decade, in the 1960s, she was the proprietor of a yard goods store in Whitefield. A talented artist, she painted on wood, etched designs on metal, and was a member of the New Hampshire League of Arts and Crafts. She was also an active member of the White Mountain Garden Club and the Littleton Garden Club. She married Bartlett McKinney in 1940, and their union lasted until his death in 1986. She is survived by her husband, C. Frederick Astle of Whitefield and Sarasota; a daughter, Denyse McKinney Anderson of Bowdoinham, Me.; a son, Gordon Bartlett McKinney of Richmond, Ky.; a stepdaughter, Carlee Astle Noecker of Concord, Mass. and Sarasota; a stepson, Alan Astle of Whitefield; and two grandchildren.
