Born in Franklin the daughter of Carl and Grace (Hartlen) Barnes, she has lived in Groveton all her life. She was a member of the Groveton United Methodist Church. She loved Bingo, her grandchildren, and cross-country skiing. She was very creative when it came to crafts and decorations. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Donald Sargent of Groveton; two sons, Robert Sargent of Littleton and Sgt. Richard Sargent, who is in the Army stationed in Hawaii; three grandchildren; four step-children, William, Susan, Connie, and Jean; and three sisters, Carol Bacon of Groveton, Gail Bailey of Loudon, and Judith K. Hight of Littleton. She was predeceased by two brothers, Richard and Carl. Services were held on March 10 at the Groveton United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Alta Chase officiating. Burial will be in the spring at the Northumberland Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Weeks Home Health, 278 Main St. Lancaster, NH 03584.
