Cameron JEFFERSON - Oscar C. Cameron, 65, of Liberty Street, died at his home on Thursday March 8, 2001, after a long illness. Born in Jefferson on July 31, 1935, he was the son of Kenneth and Laurette (Audit) Cameron. A lifetime resident of Jefferson, he had worked as an auto body technician at the former Roberts Motors Sales and present Currier Chevrolet, in Lancaster, for 32 years. He later worked part-time at home and was employed at the Waumbek Golf Club in Jefferson. He enjoyed bowling and was a team player for years. Other enjoyments of his life were hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and horseshoes. He was a member of the Waumbek Methna Snowmobile Club. Family members include his wife, Lucille (Hopps) Cameron, of Jefferson; two sons, Kirt Cameron and Marty Cameron, both of Jefferson; a daughter, Verle Briggs of Jefferson; two grandchildren; three brothers, Angus Cameron of Arizona, Bruce Cameron and David Cameron, both of Jefferson; and three sisters, Jenny Potter of Rutland, Vt., Millie Martin and Katherine Rocque, both of St. Albans, Vt. Visiting hours were held on Saturday afternoon and evening March 10 at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on March 11 at All Saint’s Church in Lancaster. A luncheon followed at the Odd Fellows Hall in Jefferson. Burial will be in the spring at the Hillside Cemetery in Jefferson.
