Raymond P. Stuart Jr., 60, died on March 20, 2001, at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook after a long illness. Born in Stark on April 28, 1940, he was the son of Raymond and Muriel (Rogers) Stuart of Pittsburg and Stark. He attended the Stark Village School, was graduated from Pittsburg High School and Plymouth State College. He married Mona Grant on November 10, 1990. Mr. Stuart was an Army veteran. He was employed as a supervisor for the New Hampshire State Highway Department of Transportation until his retirement in 1991. Following his retirement, he remained self-employed until 1999. He enjoyed his family, camping trips, classic cars, and working in his shop and garage. The family includes his wife, Mona Stuart of Colebrook; three sons, Brad Chase of Indiana, Bernie Chase of Conway, and Chris Chase of Pittsburg; a daughter, Daniel (Nona) Cordwell of Dummer; four granddaughters; seven grandsons; a great-grandson; a brother, Alan Stuart, of Barrington; three sisters, Victorine Day of Dover, Brenda Green of Graysville, Ala. and Donna Hubbard of Etters, Pa.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours were held Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. The funeral was held on Saturday at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Colebrook, with the Reverend Kathy McGregor and the Reverend Granvyl Hulse presiding. Bearers were Daniel Hallee, Peter Hallee, Sonny Graves, Doug Dowie, Charlie Gibbs and Mark Morrill. Burial will be in the Colebrook Village Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pittsburg High School, Raymond P. Stuart Sr. Memorial Fund, c/o David Covill, 85 Hill Rd., Pittsburg, NH 03592.
