Sheridan, 92, of 35 Elm Street, died Tuesday April 10, 2001, at the Country Village Health Care Center after a recent illness. Mr. Sheridan was born in New York City on October 31, 1908, the son of Bartholomew and Elizabeth (Nolan) Sheridan. He was an Army photographer during World War II and served in both the European and Asiatic theaters. Before coming to live in Lancaster, Mr. Sheridan donated his file of over a thousand aerial photographs he had made of the Industries and Resorts of the Hudson Valley to the Orange County, N.Y. Museum. Before coming to Lancaster in 1978 he lived in Goshen and Middletown in Orange County. Since 1958 he had served as president of the Lancaster Historical Society and had made and donated over 2000 slides of old photographs, maps and documents in the Society’s archives. As chairman of the yearly fundraising Flea Markets he was responsible for expanding the Markets from 10 dealers to the present 60. There are no surviving relatives. At Mr. Sheridan’s request there will be no services. Burial will be in the Summer Street Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lancaster Historical Society would be appreciated.
