Phillips, 48, died April 14, 2001 at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital after a brief illness. Born June 22, 1952, in West Stewartstown, she was the daughter of Wendell and Hulda (Blais) Hodgdon. She was a 1970 graduate of Canaan (VT) Memorial High School. She was employed as a dental assistant for Dr. Bruce Katz for several years, and worked as a part time police and fire dispatcher for the town of Colebrook. After a serious motor vehicle accident in 1992 she was unable to work anymore. Mrs. Phillips served as a Boy Scout leader and as the Commissioner of Colebrook’s Little League Baseball program for several years. She enjoyed cross-stitch, and was an avid collector of pigs. She loved to walk and could be seen frequently walking around town. She will be remembered as a loving mother and dearly missed as Mammy, the name that her grandchildren called her. Her family includes two sons, Corey Washburn of Colebrook and Allen Phillips of Groveton; a daughter, Kerry Washburn of Colebrook; a brother, Kent Hodgdon of Hopkinton; six grandchildren, Sawyer, Shelby, Shyanne, Calli, Tarann and Karsyn; her best friend and companion, Robert Hodge of Colebrook; and her faithful dog Mindy. Calling hours will be at the Newman Funeral Home, Colebrook on Thursday, April 19, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral Services are private. Interment will in later in the spring at the Canaan Village Cemetery. Donations in memory of Debra N.
