Brown, 71, of 32 Liberty Ave., died suddenly on April 5, 2001, at Franklin Regional Hospital after being stricken ill at his home. He was born in North Stratford Nov. 6, 1929, a son of Earl and Albertina (Mason) Brown. He graduated from Stratford High School. He lived in Franklin for several years as well as other New Hampshire cities and towns. He worked for Public Service Company of New Hampshire for more than 37 years and retired as southern division manager. He later was employed as a home construction inspector with REI throughout New Hampshire, out of the Manchester office. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club in Franklin and Rotary Club in Keene. He was an Army veteran, serving as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne. He was a member of the Baptist Church of Franklin. The family includes his wife of 50 years, Jean M. (Pike) Brown of Franklin; a daughter, Nancy J. Moffett of Concord; two sons, Stephen L. Brown of Dover and Kelly W. Brown of Franklin; grandchildren; a brother, Harry W. Brown of Williamstown, Mass.; and two sisters, Ruth Prince of Lancaster and Marilyn Parker of Oregon. Calling hours were Sunday at the William F. Smart Sr. Funeral Memorial Home in Tilton. A funeral service was held Monday in the memorial home with the Rev. Scott Fetter, pastor of the Baptist Church of Franklin, officiating. Spring burial will be in Franklin Cemetery in Franklin.
