Foster, 102, of Fletcher Street, died on Friday morning, April 4, 2001, at her home after a long illness. Mrs. Foster was born in Colebrook on May 5, 1898, the daughter of Richard and Norah (Bressette) Gadwah. Raised in Colebrook, she attended schools there and was a 1915 graduate of Colebrook Academy. She resided there with her first husband, Lyman Riff Sr. He died at an early age and she later married Cyril Foster. They moved to Gorham where they resided for several years, and later to Lancaster, which has been her home for over 70 years. She has worked as a clerk at Chesley’s Store and the Albion Buck Store, both in Lancaster. She enjoyed gardening, cooking sewing, and crocheting. She was a communicant of All Saints Catholic Church, Lancaster. Memberships include the Tabernacle Society, Daughters of Isabella, the Business and Professional Women’s and Col. Town Senior Citizens. Family members include a son, Maurice Foster of Antrim; a daughter, Marilyn Foster of Lancaster, 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by both husbands; three sons, Lyman Riff Jr., Richard Riff and Bradley Foster, and a daughter, Beverly Foster. Visiting hours were held on May 6 at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Monday at All Saints Church, Lancaster. The Rev. John Mazzei, pastor, officiated. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery, Lancaster.
