Howe LAKELAND, Fla. - Franklin A. Howe, 85, of Lakeland, Fla., and Whitefield, died at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center on Saturday, May 26, 2001, after a sudden illness. Mr. Howe was born in Londonderry, Vt., the son of Orange F. and Mary (Barnard) Howe. He had been a resident of Bolton, Conn. for 38 years and had wintered in Lakeland and summered in Whitefield for many years. Mr. Howe had served in the Army Air Corps in World War II and in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a life member of the VFW Post in Whitefield. He was a Mason for many years and in Connecticut was a member of the 1st Company Governors Foot Guard. Mr. Howe had been employed by the Postal Service for 38 years, retiring in 1979, as the assistant financial accountant in Hartford, Conn. Survivors include his wife, Blanche (Frohock) Howe of Lakeland and Whitefield; a foster son, Raymond F. Streeter Jr. of Coventry, Conn.; two stepdaughters, Gaylie May (Stoughton) Blake of Alstead and Carlene (Stoughton) Wheeler of Sullivan; four stepgrandchildren; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a stepdaughter, Bonny (Stoughton) Garrett. There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in Hope Hill Cemetery in North Charlestown at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the United Methodist Church of Whitefield, 16 High Street, Whitefield, NH 03598 or the North Charlestown First United Methodist Church, c/o First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 682, Claremont, NH 03743.
