Included in the USGenWeb Archives with permission. http://seacoastonline.com Genella Barton Brown Athlete, UNH alumna Genella Barton Brown, 85, of Dover, died April 7, 2001 at Providence Care Center in Lenox, MA, where she had resided for the past five months. Born in Epsom on July 17, 1915, the daughter of Albert and Molly (Knowles) Barton, she attended grade school in Epsom and was a 1933 graduate of Pittsfield High School. An outstanding high school athlete, she excelled in softball and basketball. She also attended the University of New Hampshire, receiving her BS degree in 1937. A homemaker for many years, Mrs. Brown was later employed by the former Clarostat Manufacturing Co. for several years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of the UNH Alumni Association. Her husband, Otto C. Brown, whom she married on Oct. 23, 1937, died in 1992. Mrs. Brown is survived by one son Robert A. Brown of California, PA, two daughters, Nancy G. Barrett of Lenox, MA and Carol M. Seavey of South Glenns Falls, NY; seven grandchildren, Donald Seavey, Scott Brown, Lynn Barrett, Kelly Brown, Lynn Barrett, Kelly Brown, Patrick Barrett, Ragan Gutierrez, and Crystal Seavey; and Crystal Seavey; and five great-grandchildren. Arrangements were with the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave. Burial is in McCleary Cemetery in Epsom. Those who wish may make memorial donations to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of one's choice, both in care of the funeral home. M. Olive Landry St. Charles communicant M. Olive Landry, 92, a former resident of Waldron Towers died April 9, 2001 at the Riverside Rest Home. Born in New Brunswick, Canada on Sept. 16, 1908 the daughter of Sifroid and Leone (Cormier) Cormier she moved to Massachusetts at the age of 17 and came to Dover in 1940. She was a 25-year employee of the Clarostat Manufacturing Co., retiring at the age of 66. She has been a member of St. Charles Church for more than 60 years. She was predeceased by her husband Adelard Landry who died in 1959, two sons Robert J. Landry and infant son Roger Landry, a great-grandson and 13 sisters and brothers. She is survived by three daughters Gloria Allis and her husband Joseph of Newmarket, Yvonne Hale and her husband Donald of Dover, Claire Newsome of Lebanon, ME, four sons Adrien Landry and his wife Joan of Dover, Lionel Landry and his wife Linda of Rochester, a brother Geoffrey Cormier of Sequim, Washington, a daughter-in-law Mary Messier Landry of Dover, 28 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends were received at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Avenue, Dover. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Charles Church with The Reverend Paul Gregoire, pastor, as celebrant. Burial is in St. Charles Cemetery. Robert Knight Dover native Robert D. Knight, 51, of 121 Emery's Bridge Rd., South Berwick, died April 11, 2001 at his home. Born in Dover April 30, 1949, he was the son of the late Burton C. and Ethel M. (McDonald) Knight. He was a lifelong resident of South Berwick and had last been employed in maintenance at South Berwick Sewer Plant. Family members include his wife of 33 years, Shirley A. (Walker) Knight of South Berwick; one son, Robert S. Knight of South Berwick; one daughter, Christine A. Knight of Somersworth; two brothers, Charles E. Knight of Grandview, MO and David C. Knight of South Berwick; two sisters, Joan L. Mordgridge of Rollinsford, NH and Constance S. Clough of South Berwick. He was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Rose. Private family services were conducted at McIntire-McCooey Funeral Home with The Reverend Phil Woodman officiating. Interment is in Woodlawn Cemetery, South Berwick. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the South Berwick Emergency Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 157, South Berwick, ME 03908. Gerald "Jocko" McCabe Lifelong resident, veteran Gerald "Jocko" McCabe, 65, of 29 Lincoln St., died April 9, 2001 at his home. Born in Dover on September 19, 1935 the son of Walter and Joanna (Donovan) McCabe, he has lived here all of his lifetime. He attended St. Mary Academy, the Sawyer School and Dover High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1963. A former employee of the Davidson Rubber Co. he later worked at Janco in Rollinsford in the plating area and then worked for the Clarostat Manufacturing Co. where he was a screw machine operator. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. Survivors include two sisters Veronica McCabe Harrison of Dover, Shirley McCabe Butler and her husband Peter of Tallahassee, FL, his brother Robert McCabe and his wife Jo-Ann of Rochester, a sister-in-law Germaine McCabe of Dover and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by four brothers Francis McCabe, David McCabe, Ronald McCabe and Edmund McCabe. Arrangements were with the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary's Church with The Reverend Fritz Cerullo, OSA, celebrant. Burial is in the family lot in St. Mary New Cemetery. Donald Tetu Veteran, carpenter Donald H. Tetu, 58, of 37 Maple St., died Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at Goodall Hospital, Sanford, ME following a period of failing health. Born in Goveton, NH September 27, 1942, he was the son of Carl H. and Blanche D. (Gaudette) Tetu. Mr. Tetu, a Dover resident for the past two years, was a self-employed carpenter. He was a former resident of Sanford. His last employment was with Universal Golf of Dover. He served in the United States Army from 1960-1963. He was of the Catholic faith. His interests included horses and cattle. He is survived by his wife, Shirley M. (Rand) Tetu of Lebanon whom he married July 11, 1989; his parents of South Berwick; seven sons, Richard M. Zuschlag, David D. Tetu, and Tommy A. Tetu, all of South Berwick, Donny C. Tetu of Lebanon, Buck A. Pierce of Rochester, Richard Starbird of Windsor Locks, CT, and Charles Starbird of Wakefield, NH; four daughters, Tammie Celly of Farmington, Peggy S. Starbird of East Rochester, Kimberly Ann Fulton of Farmington and Jenny L. Starbird of Acton; two brothers, Richard J. Tetu of South Berwick and Robert W. Tetu of Sanford; one sister, Tina M. Eaton of Springvale; 28 grandchildren, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Arrangements were with the McIntire-McCooey Funeral Home of Lebanon, ME. Funeral services were conducted at at the funeral home with The Reverend Philip Tracy, pastor of St. Michael's Church, officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery, South Berwick.
