Nadeau Nurse, athlete Doris L. Nadeau, 78, of Maplewood Avenue died April 14, 2001 at the Riverside Rest Home. She was born in Dover August 24, 1922 the daughter of Walter P. and Christina (Young) Lachance. Doris was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. She was a Registered Nurse having been educated in the Wentworth School of Nursing, Class of 1943. She worked in area nursing homes, most recently the St. Ann Home & Riverside Rest Home, retiring in 1981. Doris had been the Supervisor in the Obstetrics Department of Wentworth-Douglass Hospital. Love of family and the Nursing Profession were foremost in Doris' life. Her academic career included Simmons College 1943-1945 ad Boston Lying In Hospital 1952. While in High School, she was very active in athletics, including making the All States in Basketball. Doris also was involved in swimming. Doris' community activities included: the Wentworth Alumni Association, American Legion Auxiliary, the Girl Scouts of America. She was a member of the first Girl Scout Drum & Bugle Corps in Dover. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor and her love of life. Members of the family include her husband: Royal "Cickie" Nadeau of Barrington. Three grandchildren: Christopher, Tracy and Bailey Nadeau. Two cousins: Teresa and Carolyn Foley both of Dover. Doris' brother Walter P. Nadeau, Jr. died in 1975. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 18, at St. Mary Church. Burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Somersworth. Arrangements were with Tasker Funeral Home 621 Central Avenue Dover. Donations may be made to either Strafford Hospice Care or to Riverside Rest Home. J. Alfred Morin Former superintendent, Riverside Rest Home J. Alfred Morin, 76, of 30 Richardson St., died Thursday April 19, 2001 at the Veterans Administration Center in Manchester after a long series of illnesses. Born in Jaffrey, on June 12, 1924, he was the son of Arthur and Mary (Coucherne) Morin. He grew up in Rollinsford and graduated from the St. Joseph School in Rollinsford and resided there for many years prior to moving to Rochester. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II and was a life member of the Post #47 American Legion of Rollinsford. He was also a former member of the Lions Club. He was a shoe cutter having worked at several local shoe-manufacturing firms, and also served as road agent in Rollinsford and a selectman. He was the Superintendent of the Riverside Rest Home in Dover for a number of years. He is survived y his wife of 31 years Edna (Dube) Morin of Rochester, four children Carolyn L. Hunt of Belmont, Steven E. Tucker of Chichester, Wayne R Tucker of Lakeland FL, and Pat Duchesneau of Somersworth, several grandchildren, a sister Irene Gerard of Rollinsford and nieces and nephews. There were no calling hours. A mass of Christian burial was celebrated April 24th at St. Mary's Church, Church St., Rollinsford with The Reverend Thomas Coover and Brother Richard Dube, D.F.A. of St. Louis, Alfred's brother-in-law, officiating. Burial is in New Town Cemetery, Rollinsford. Arrangements were with the McIntire-McCooey Funeral Home, 301 Main St., South Berwick, ME. Edna M. Langlois St. Charles' communicant Edna M. Langlois, 96, widow of Omer Langlois, a former resident of Lincoln St., died April 19, 2001 at the Rochester Manor. She was a member of St. Charles Church and was a former member of the Altar and Rosary Society. The widow of Omer J. Langlois, she is survived by a son George Ouellette and his wife Joan of Center Barnstead; a sister-in-law, Florence Malek of Newmarket; two brothers-in-law, Ernest "Babe" Hamel of Dover and Richard MacIntyre of Dover; three step grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by brothers, Valmore J. Vachon, Ernest Vachon and Leo Vachon; and two sisters, Annette Seaver and Caroline MacIntyre. Arrangements were with the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave. where funeral services were held with The Reverend Paul Gregoire, pastor of St. Charles Church officiated. Brooks, 61, of 6 Wedgewood Road died Thursday April 19, 2001. Born August 27, 1939 in Barnehurust, Kent, England the daughter of Herbert and Ethel Thomas. She was educated in England and moved to Dover 42 years ago. Doreen enjoyed knitting and yard sales. She has been a longtime employee at the cafeteria at Dover High School. She is survived by her husband of nearly 42 years Douglas Brooks, a daughter Deborah Hodges and her husband Richard of Strafford, a son Christopher Brooks and his wife Tara of Rochester, four grandchildren Mark Hodges, Chelsea Hodges, Chanelle Brooks and Kyle Brooks, two sisters Jean A. Thomas and Margaret E. Grieve, a niece and a nephew Michael and Joanne Grieve all of England. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 25 at St. Mary Church, Burial is in St. Mary New Cemetery. Arrangements were with Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave. Those who wish are invited to make memorials in her name to the charity of one's choice. Georgia Goss Drew Vassar alumna Georgia Goss Drew, 71, died April 13, 2001, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in after a long and well-fought battle with cancer. She was born August 16, 1929 in Worcester, MA, daughter of the late Constance (Woodworth) and C. Lane Goss of Worcester, MA and Madbury. She was the widow of Frederick E. Drew of Madbury and Barrington. She was predeceased by her son, David Goss McCaig and her daughter, Holly Armitage. She is survived by her brother, Lane Woodworth Goss of North Andover, MA; three nephews, Edward Woodworth Goss of Wellesley, MA, Charles Lane Goss II of Andover, MA and Philip Johnston Goss of North Andover. She also leaves her aunt Mary Woodworth Sawyer of Durham and cousins, Jenifer D'Arey of Durham, Susan D'Arey Schultz of New York City, Sally Woodworth Gallagher of Concord and Deborah Woodworth Edgar of Concord, MA; and two great nephews, William Woodworth Goss and Edward Woodworth Goss, Jr.; and three great nieces, Elizabeth Jane Goss and Sarah Staley Goss, all of Wellesley and Katharine Ames Goss of Hamilton, MA. She was previously married to Robert McCaig of Portland, OR and to Perley (Peter) E. Armitage, Jr. of Gonic. She also leaves her companion of recent years, Alfred L. Moseley of Barrington. Georgia was a graduate of Bancroft School in Worcester, MA, Walnut Hill School in Natick, MA and Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, NY. She was a fourth generation graduate of Vassar. Her great-grandmother, Mary Parker (Woodworth) in 1870 was the first New Hampshire woman to graduate from a four-year college and was also the first woman to serve on the Concord, NH School Board. Georgia had been on the Board of the Strafford County (NH) Health Association and at the time of her death was an Overseer of Walnut Hill School and a Madbury town officer. She had been a Board Member and Vice-President of The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in the State of New Hampshire, where she had been a long-time House Manager of their historic property in Portsmouth, the Moffatt-Ladd House. There will be a memorial service at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Dover, at 11 a.m. Thursday May 3, 2001.
