Wallingford Veteran, DHS graduate Donald B. Wallingford, 79 of 129 New Rochester Rd. (Route #108) died Wednesday June 6, 2001 at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital. Born in Dover on May 13, 1922 the son of Kirk and Irene (Blanchard) Wallingford. He was a graduate of the Dover Schools and has lived in Dover and Somersworth all of his lifetime. In his early years he enjoyed hunting, roller-skating and skiing. A U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, he was a 53-year-member of the Martel Roberge Post #47 American Legion of Rollinsford. Don was employed as a welder at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, later drove school bus for the Somersworth Transportation Co., and was a toll attendant for the State of New Hampshire and retired in the early 1980’s. The widower of Shirley (Anderson) Wallingford who died in 1996 he is survived by a son and his wife Sterling and Mary Wallingford, two grandchildren Kirk Wallingford and Jaye Wallingford all of Rochester, his cousin Cal Wallingford of Dover and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Harold Wallingford. Funeral services were at the Tasker Funeral Home with The Reverend Raymond B. Wilbur officiating. Burial followed in Pine Hill Cemetery. Those who wish are invited to make memorials in his name to the charity of one’s choice. Winifred A. White Devoted to family, service Winifred A. White, 82, of Dover died Tuesday, June 5, 2001 at home surrounded by family and friends. Born in Dover on February 9, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Edward V. and Leah A. (Munn) Smith. She was the widow of Mayor Michael J. White, who died in 1977. She graduated from Dover High School in 1937 and was a member of the Class Reunion Committee. She was active with the Blue Birds, Camp Fire Girls, Girl Scouts and the St. Mary Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She devoted her life to family and friends and enjoyed sewing and oil painting. The widow of Mayor Michael J. White, Winifred’s survivors include; three daughters, Jacqueline A. and her husband William C. Baugh of Millersville, MD, Maureen J. and her husband Ralph R. Joyce of Weare, NH and Kathleen F. and her husband Douglass Bixby of Portland, ME; a sister, Jean (Smith) and her husband Pedro Hernandez of Columbia, MD; five grandchildren, Michael W. Joyce of Dover, NH, Ralph R. Joyce, III of North Andover, MA, Catherine White of Dover, NH and Mary White of Burlington, VT; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Edward Smith, Sgt. William F. Smith, USMC, John M. Smith, Robert Smith and Raymond B. Smith. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Mary Church. Burial followed in St. Mary New Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were handled by Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Avenue. Elliot “Bud” Willett Retired Air Force Elliot “Bud” Willett, 75 years of Littleworth Road died June 7, 2001 at the Wentworth-Douglas Hospital. He was born in Whitehall, NY July 27, 1925 the son of Ellery C. and Sarah M. (Gardner) Willett. He has lived here since 1974 moving from Pease Air Force Base, Newington. Elliott retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1975. He was a Chief Master Sergeant in the Personnel Administration Office. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, Dover. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother. Members of his family include his wife: Elizabeth (Pieper) Willett, his son: Michael Willett of Elliott, ME., his daughters: Beth Willett of Dover and Diane Willett of Corinth, ME, three sisters: Sally King of Whitehall, NY, Jean Jones of Whiteboro, NY and Agnes Kelly of Ft. Myers, FL. Also, four grandchildren. There will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary’s Church. Burial followed in the family lot in Pine Hill Cemetery, Dover. Arrangements were with Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Avenue. In lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Bud’s memory to either: Alzheimer’s Disease Education and Referral Center, P.O.
