Included in the USGenWeb Archives with permission. http://seacoastonline.com Ernest Carrier Vet, Legionnaire, Elk, Moose Ernest Carrier, 86, of 23 ½ Hill St., died Wednesday June 20, 2001 at the Wentworth-Douglas Hospital. Born in Sanford, Maine on November 19, 1914 the son of John and Olivine (Lemay) Carrier. He formerly lived in Sanford, Maine and was educated in the Sanford schools in prior to moving to Dover many years ago. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, assigned to the 1st Marine Division having served for 3 ½ years in the South Pacific. He was a past Commander and Life Member of the Dover Post #8 American Legion. Prior to his retirement he was a 33-year employee of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in the Quality Assurance Department. He also held a New Hampshire Master Plumbers License. He was a life member of the Dover Lodge of Elks and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose #443. Ernest was an active member of St. Charles Church where he was on the Parish Council and had served on many church committees. The widow of Evelyn (Boucher) Carrier who died in 1977 he is survived by two sons Ernest John Carrier and his wife Irene of Portsmouth, Robert Charles Carrier and his fiancée Janet Hanson of Dover, 4 grandchildren Wesley, Jason, Christopher and Connor Carrier and nieces and nephews. A mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Charles Church, with The Reverend Paul Gregorie, pastor, as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Charles Cemetery. Arrangements were with Tasker Funeral Home. Beatrice Perreault Active with Homemakers Beatrice Perreault, 76, of 3 Quail Drive, Rochester, died at her residence Saturday, June 16, 2001. She was born October 07, 1924 in Lewiston, Maine. The daughter of Henry and Helen (Dalton) Brousseau. She was a graduate of Portsmouth High School and attended McIntosh College. She was employed as a key punch operator at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and Pease Air Force Base as a civil service employee. During the last 12 years she was employed at the Homemakers of Strafford County. She was a resident of Rochester for the last nine years and a former resident of Rollinsford. She enjoyed gardening, floral arranging and was an active employee and volunteer at the Homemakers of Strafford County. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Fernand Perreault; one son, Raymond J. Perreault of Barrington, NH; three grandchildren, Rachel Perreault, Gabriel Perreault and Daniel Perreault all of Barrington, NH. Funeral Services were held at the Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Avenue, Dover, NH. Memorial contributions may be made to the Homemakers of Strafford County, 215 Rochester Hill Road, Rochester, NH 03867. Winnie Welch UNH retiree, volunteer Winnie Chamberlin Welch, 98, formerly of 38 Madbury Rd., died Saturday, June 16,2001 at St. Ann Home. Born in Wolfeboro June 4, 1903, she was the daughter of Ivan G. and Annie L. (MacDonald) Chamberlin. She was a graduate of Brewster Academy, class of 1920 and attended Keene State College. Winnie was a cashier, employed by the University of New Hampshire for more than 20 years, retiring in 1974. She was a member of Durham Community Church. Her involvement in civic organizations include the James Farington Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Pamona Grange, Jerimiah Smith Grange of Lee, Durham’s Women Club and the Durham Business and Professional’s Women’s Club. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in earlier years. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter P. Welch in 1956 and by a son, Charles I. White who died November 11, 2000 and by a grandson, Gregory Dugal, Family members include two daughters, Eleanor L. Dugal-Colby of Dover and Marcia A. DiMambro of Dover; six grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren. Arrangements were with Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover.
