Berry Teacher, Odd Fellow Gordon A. Berry, 65, died Saturday June 30, 2001 at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital. Gordon was born in Dover on January 7, 1936 and was a son of the late Wyatt and Flora (Joy) Berry. He graduated from Dover High School in 1954 and went on to further his education at Oklahoma State University where he received a Master’s in Biological Science. Gordon taught for 17 years and then became a Lieutenant for the Strafford County Jail where he worked for 20 years. He was a member of the Stafford F.M. and A.M., Odd Fellows Lodge of Dover, Seacoast Square Dance Association and was a UNH Marine Docent. Gordon enjoyed square dancing, motorcycle riding, reading and a variety of nature-related activities including bird watching with his wife, Patricia. Family members include his wife of 41 years Patricia (Spencer) Berry, one son David Alan Berry and his wife Pam Arcouette of Somersworth and a daughter Sandra J. Kittredge, and four grandchildren, twin girls Dawn and Dianna Kittredge and Barry Kittredge and Sean Michael Berry, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave. with The Reverend Paul Gregoire officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Harry Wiggin, Sr. Loving grandfather, veteran Harry L. Wiggin, Sr., 75, of 10 Wilbrod Street died Wednesday, July 4, 2001 at his residence. Born December 21, 1925 in Rochester, he was the son of Leroy and Jennie (Garyait) Wiggin. A veteran, Harry was a Corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was an active member of American Legion Post #47 of Rollinsford for the past twenty-eight years. He was a Dover resident since the late 1940s and was employed as a machinist for Moore Business Forms, Locust Street retiring in 1990 after more than fifteen years. He was a member of the Old Timers of Moore Business Forms. Harry was a husband for 57 years, a proud father, grandfather, great-grandfather and loyal friend to anyone who knew him. He would have told you that his biggest responsibility and joy in life was that of being a grandfather and great-grandfather. His love of travel was shared by many. If we hadn’t been lucky enough to have made the journey with him, he was sure to bring us there with his hours of afternoon story telling. He enjoyed reading. Survivors include his wife, Irene A. (Vigneault) Wiggin of Dover; two sons, Harry Wiggin, Jr. and his wife, Sandra, of Rochester, Gary Wiggin and his wife, Jennifer of Lebanon, ME; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and his goddaughter, Janet Spencer and her husband, Nathan of Rollinsford. Funeral arrangements were with Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Charles Church with The Reverend Paul Gregoire, pastor celebrating. Pearl F. Clabeaux Loving, caring person, Moose Pearl F. Clabeaux, 62, of Colonial Village in Somersworth, died Friday June 6, 2001 at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital following a sudden illness. She was born in South Berwick, ME the daughter of Charles R. and Doris M. (Rogers) Otis. She was the wife of Frank Clabeaux. Pearl was a life member and past Senior Regent of the Women of the Moose, Chapter 567, Dover. Pearl had worked at local shoe shops including Weiss-Lawrence, Tierra and Duchess. Also, Pearl was a waitress at Pier 2 Restaurant in Portsmouth. Pearl was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be remembered for taking care of all who needed her and loving everyone she knew. Members of the family include: her mother, Doris Rogers, her husband Frank, a daughter and her husband: Heidi Mae and Lewie Myers, her step-mother: Maxine Otis, a sister: Barbara Lowell and her husband Norman, a brother Charles P. Otis and his wife Alice Otis, her grandchildren: Carlie, JR, KC, Albert and Marilyn also her great-grandchildren: Aliyah and Averie. Along with many nieces and nephews. Pearl was predeceased by her father Charles R. Otis. Funeral Services were conducted by The Women of the Moose. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Charles Church with The Reverend Paul Gregoire, pastor, as celebrant. Burial followed in Pine Hill Cemetery. Madelena DiMambro St. Joseph’s communicant Madelena DiMambro, 87, widow of the late Agostino DiMambro, died Saturday, July 7, 2001 at Langdon Place, Dover, after a period of failing health. Mrs. DiMambro was a former resident of Stark Avenue. She was born November 1, 1913, in Italy, the daughter of Marino and Letizia (Belmont) Viola. She was a resident of Dover for more than 50 years and a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church. She is survived by one brother, John Viola of Dover; three sisters, Mrs. Clayton (Emma) Metcalf and Ms. Gloria Viola, both of Haverhill, MA, Mrs. Armida M. Duprey of Plaistow; one brother-in-law, Rudy DiMambro and his wife Inez of Dover and several nieces and nephews. A mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church with The Reverend Robert Cole, pastor, officiating. Burial is in the family lot at St. Mary’s Cemetery on Dover Point. Arranegements were with the Wiggen-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Avenue. Herbert Frank Worthen Purple Heart, Elk, Legionnaire Herbert Frank Worthen, 79, of 406 Central Towers and formerly of 4 Willand Avenue, died Thursday, July 5, 2001 at Dover Rehabilitation and Living Center after a period of failing health. Born January 5, 1922 in Manchester, he was the son of Frank and Millie (Dolber) Worthen. A veteran, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a life member of the Dover Lodge of Elks #184 and a member of the Dover American Legion Post #8. He was employed by Moore Business Forms, Locust Street Division, retiring in the mid 1980s. He was a member of the Old Timers Club at Moore. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Helen (Sesin) Worthen of Dover; a sister, Grace Hibbits of Plainfield, CT; several nieces and nephews and several grandnieces and grandnephews. Memorial services were from the Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Avenue with The Reverend Robert E. Cole, pastor, St. Joseph’s Church officiating.
