Rosholt Master electrician, sportsman Daniel E. Rosholt, 44, of 30 Maple St., died Thursday, October 4, 2001 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital following a brief illness. Born June 14, 1957 in Portsmouth, he was the son of Edward J. Rosholt and the late Florence (Menard) Rosholt. He was a graduate of Oyster River High School, class of 1976 and attended the University of New Hampshire for one semester. While in high school he was very involved in soccer. He served a five-year enlistment in the United States Navy. Dan was a master electrician, licensed in the state of NH, ME, and MA. He was self-employed after working for several years at Modini Electric of Manchester. He enjoyed fishing, lobstering, skiing and hiking. Family members include his father and stepmother, Edward J. and Martha (Flechtner) Rosholt of Durham, three brothers, Michael P. Rosholt of Dover, Mark J. Rosholt of Massillon, OH, and Kevin M. Rosholt of Berwick, ME; four sisters, Theresa A. Bianchi of Manchester, Catherine L. Kling of Manassas, VA, Christina L. Waterman of Somersworth, and Jennifer L. Salmon, Albany, NY; several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by his mother, Florence M. Rosholt in 1972. A memorial service was held at Hope Community Church, with The Reverend Steve Spearing, pastor, and The Reverend Lynn Opderbecke, pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Littlefield Nurse’s Aide, retirement counselor Joyce M. Littlefield, 74, of 7 Riverwoods Dr., Exeter, died Wednesday October 3, 2001 at Riverwoods of Exeter. Born in Concord on April 3, 1927 the daughter of Harold L. and Marjorie (Davis) Lothrop. She grew up in Dover and resided in Needham, MA for 40 years prior to moving to Exeter seven years ago. She was a nurse’s aide for the Briarwood Nursing home in Needham and the Newton-Wellesley Hospital and prior to her retirement she was the retirement councilor for the North Hill Retirement Home in Needham. She is survived by her husband of 53 years Homer C. Littlefield of Exeter, three daughters Joan Littlefield of Golden Colorado; Judith Thorpe Mangan and her husband Kerry of Holliston, MA; Nancy Michaud and her husband James of Nashua; five grandchildren Jennifer Bihuniak of Holliston, MA, Robert Thorpe, Jr. of Needham, MA, Daniel, Timothy and Andrew Michaud all of Nashua, a great-granddaughter Anna Bihuniak of Holliston, two brothers James E. Tillson Veteran, Mason Robert G. Tillson, Sr., 82, of 10 Deerfield Drive, died Thursday, October 4, 2001 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital. Born in Boston, MA November 12, 1918, he was the son of the late Harold C. and Edna A. (Patterson) Tillson. He moved to Dover in 1985 from York and had previously lived in Wakefield, MA. He was a graduate of Waltham High School. During WWII he served his country in the United States Navy and later in the US Naval Reserves. Mr. Tillson was a machinist and retired from Watts Inc. of Kittery. He was a member of Mount Horeb Lodge A&FM for 52 years. While in York, he was affiliated with their Masonic Lodge. Family members include one son, Robert G. Tillson, Jr. and his wife Nancy Tillson of Chesterfield; and three grandsons, Robert J. Tillson of Stoneham, MA, Brian K. Tillson of Dracutt, MA and Aric M. Tillson of Dracutt, MA. He was predeceased by his wife, Marion A. (Anderson) Tillson who died November 6, 1998 and by a son, Karl H. Tillson who died in 1952. Gagne, 72 of 16 Phillip St. died Friday October 5, 2001 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 4, 1929 in Somersworth the son of Albert and Rose (Labbe) Gagne. He has lived in Dover since 1955 moving here from Somersworth. Albert was Staff Sergeant for the United States Air Force and fought in the Korean War. He was decorated with the Flying Cross on December 12, 1953. Albert worked as a foreman for the Dover Shoe Company for many years. 1977 he went to work for Heidlberg Harris where he retired in 1994. He was a member of the American Legion Post 8 in Dover and the Veterans Association at Sampson Air Force Base in Geneva, N.Y. Albert will be remembered by his family as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Family members include his wife of 46 years Gladys Taylor, a daughter Mrs. Linda Raymond Talon of Dover, three sons Gary A. Gagne and his wife Nancy and Alan C. Moody and wife Cathy, both of Dover and Glen F. Hayes and wife Elizabeth of Anchorage, AK; five sisters, Anita and Philip Perreault and Julie Laprise all of Rochester, Antoinette Roy and Lena and Arthur Perreault, all of Somersworth and Blanche and Raymond Lessard of Somersworth, and 10 grandchildren Betsy and Michael Graves of Dover, Craig and Elena Moody of Middleton, Tim and Kristen Moody of Dover, Aaron and Allison Talon of Portland, ME, Renee Talon and fiancé Chris Stout of Dover, Bryan and Angel Gagne of Puyallup, WA, Jessie Day and fiancé Eric Lenzi of Dover, Tassie and Kurt Knudson, Wendy Smith and Lyn Desotell all of Wisconsin, 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Effie Jenis GE retiree, loving mother Effie Jenis, 75, of Williams Street, died Saturday October 6, 2001 at Wentworth-Douglas Hospital after a sudden illness. Born in Somerville, MA, February 2, 1926 the daughter of Anthony and Mary Jamouses. She was a graduate of Somerville High School and moved to Somersworth in 1951. She was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church of Somersworth and the Daughters of Penelope. Mrs. Jenis was employed by the Somersworth and Dover General Electric Company for nearly 20 years, retiring in the early 90’s. She was currently employed by Filenes of Newington, a position she enjoyed thoroughly. She was a most loving mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed. She was predeceased by her husband James D. Jenis, who died December 25, 1997. They were married for 46 years. She is survived by one son, Theodore (Ted) Jenis and his wife Sheila of Dover; two daughters, Mrs. Evangeline Levesque and her husband Timothy of Wells, ME and Mrs. Mary McEwan of Isle of Palms, South Carlina; five grandchildren, Mrs. Jennifer (Levesque) Cooper and her husband Brendon, Tim Levegue, Stacy McEwan, Laalyn and Nikki Jenis; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services were held at the Greek Orthodox Church of Somersworth with The Reverend Arthur E. Athans, officiating. Burial followed in the Greek Cemetery of Somersworth. Joseph Desautel Moose, Elk, lifelong resident Joseph L. “Jake” Desautel, 85, formerly of 3 Earl St., died Saturday, October 6, 2001 at Riverside Rest Home. Born in Dover October 3, 1916, he was the son of George and Margaret (McArdel) Desautel. He attended Dover schools and served in the Merchant Marines. He was a lifelong resident of Dover and was a retired car salesman from Midway Buick. Mr. Desautel was a member Dover Loyal Order of the Moose and the Benevolent and Protective Lodge of Elks. In younger days, he was a member of Ringside 38 of Dover. Family members include two daughters, Donna L. Smith of York, ME and Dorothy M. Olson of South Berwick, ME; two sisters, Celia Harvey of Dover and Margaret McMahon of West Plain Beach, FL; four grandchildren, three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Lorraine (Grenier) Desautel on October 27, 1998. Durnin, 86, of 8 Spring St., died Saturday, October 6, 2001 at Riverside Rest Home following a long illness. Born in Dover June 20, 1915, he was the son of the late James E. and Margaret V. (Sunderland) Durnin. Paul was a lifelong resident of Dover. He was retired from Portsmouth Naval Shipyard where he was employed as a pipefitter and from the University of New Hampshire where he worked in the athletic department. Paul served in both the United States Army and the Seabees of the United States Navy. He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church. Mr. Durnin was a proud member of the Cocheco Country Club, the BPOE and the Loyal Order of Moose. Family members include three daughters, Kathleen M. Durnin of Nashua, Margaret D. Terry of Dover, and Elizabeth M. Gerrish of Auburn; one grandchild, Lauren E. Gerrish of Auburn, many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Elaine E. (Vachon) Durnin on October 15, 1997 and by a brother, James Durnin, two sisters, Margaret MacDonald and Alice Aliston. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Joseph Church with The Reverend Robert Cole, pastor, as celebrant. Burial followed in New Town Cemetery, Rollinsford.
