Born in Berlin on July 24, 1926 the son of William and Eva (Brunelle) Croteau, he attended schools in Berlin and had lived in Dover for most of his lifetime. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, maple sugaring and blueberry picking. Prior to his retirement he was employed for more than 46 years at the Heidelburg Harris Co. (the former Kidder Press Co. and Moore Business Forms Co.) where he worked in the tooling and methods department, and was a member of the quarter century club. He was an active member of St. Charles Church. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jeanne (Grenier) Croteau; six sons Daniel Croteau , Maurice Croteau and his wife Linda and Raymond Croteau and his wife Joyce all of Berwick, ME, Gerard Croteau and his wife Nancy of Dover, Ernest Croteau and his wife Doreen of East Lebanon, ME, Martin Croteau and his wife Judy of Rochester ; a daughter Gloria Hutchings and her husband Thomas of Jackson; five brothers Edward Croteau and his wife Grace, Albert “Minna” Croteau and his wife Linda and John Croteau and his wife Carol all of Rollinsford, Armand Croteau and his wife Alice and David Croteau and his wife Helen all of Somersworth. Also, six sisters Mrs. Almon (Anita) Landry, Mrs. Richard (Delia) Carr and, Mrs. Rolad (Beatrice) Landry, and Mrs. Maurice (Pauline) Peppin, all of Somersworth, Mrs. Jean Paul (Doris) Dionne of Port Charlotte, FL, Mrs. Elwyn (Florence) Shorey of Virginia Beach, FL; 17 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Three brothers Wilfred Croteau, Richard Croteau, and Edgar Croteau and a sister Irene Cote predeceased him. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Monday, October 22, at St. Charles Church, officiated by The Reverend Paul Gregoire, pastor, as celebrant assisted by The Reverend Pete Murphy, Alex’s cousin. Burial followed at St. Charles Cemetery. Helen McNally Veteran, nurse Helen Sylvia McNally, 77, formerly of Cocheco Park, died Saturday, October 20, 2001 at Seacoast Health Center, Hampton, after a battle with cancer. Born March 28, 1924 in Exeter, she was the daughter of Stephen and Isabella (Parker) Kujeske. She was employed by Hooz, Virginia Lee and Kates’ Dress Shops of Dover. A proud veteran, she served as a nurse in the U.S. Navy at the Naval Recruiting Station, South Annex Naval Station, Norfolk, VA. She was a life member of the DAV, Chapter 5 of Dover and a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club of Dover. Survivors include a son, Francis McNally and his wife, Monica and grandchildren Maeghan, Meredith and Christine, all of Lee; two sisters, Christine Dining of Exeter and Caroline Smith of St. Petersburg, FL; a brother, Arthur Rohr of Denver, CO and one niece, Robin Copp Currier of Brentwood. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated from St. Joseph’s Church with The Reverend John Poirier as celebrant. Burial followed in Pine Hill Cemetery Veteran’s Lot. Arrangements were with Wiggen-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her memory to the Hospice of one’s choice. Michael Eastman Newspapers distribution manager Michael “Mike” Eric Eastman, 53, of South Berwick, Maine, passed away unexpectedly of a massive coronary on Saturday, October 13, 2001 while in Hawaii. He recently had relocated to Hawaii for its warmth and beauty, in September of this year. Born July 21, 1948 in Exeter, he graduated from Marshwood High School in 1968. He leaves his mother and father, Robert D. and Hariet J. (Villars) Eastman of South Berwick; his daughter Erica and her husband Todd Amazeen of Dover; a son, Steven and his wife, Stella (VanDenHandel) Eastman of Annerly, Australia. Both Erica and Steven are recent newlyweds. Mike also leaves behind a brother Robert (Bob) and his wife Gini Eastman of Exeter, a sister Kathleen and her husband Michael Lorenz, with whom Mike was living at the time of his untimely death, in Kapaa Kauai, a brother Peter and his wife Carole Eastman of South Berwick, ME, a sister Linda M. Eastman of South Berwick, and a brother John Eastman of Provincetown, MA; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and a colorful array of many friends that he pieced together with fun, kindness, laughter and love. Heaven has found a keeper in the life of Mike. God’s hand reached out on that fateful day . . . Come Mike, I am taking you, Home, to a better place . . . Paradise. George Rolfe National Guardsman, printer George William Rolfe, 74, of Wilbrod Avenue, died Friday, October 19, 2001 at Riverside Rest Home after a period of failing health. Born August 12, 1927 in East Boston, MA, he was the son of Harold and Marie (Port) Rolfe. He was a member of the Air National Guard for 20 years retiring as Staff Sergeant. A printer for 40 years, he was employed with Heidelberg-Harris for 27 years prior to retiring in 1992. Previously he had been with Manley Offset Printing, Kidder Press and Moore Business Forms. He was an active member of St. Joseph’s Church of Dover. He worked with children through Campfire Girl and Boy Scout organizations. He loved his collection of model trains, music and dancing. He was well loved and will be missed by all. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marjorie (Stacy) Rolfe of Dover; a son, Michael W. Rolfe and his wife Rose of Pepperell, MA; a daughter, Nancy Richmond and her husband Bruce of Charlestown; a brother David Rolfe and his wife Barbie of Augusta, ME; four grandchildren, Adrian and Barry Richmond, Stacy and April Rolfe; several neices and nephews and cousins. Janelle Carpenter, sportsman Thomas P. Janelle, 29, of 595 Central Avenue, died October 20, 2001 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital. Born in Dover on January 2, 1972, he was the son of Raymond L. and Ellen (Murphy) Janelle and has lived in Dover all of his life. He was a graduate of Dover High School where he played baseball and football. Tom was a carpenter and two years ago he started his own contracting business building houses. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his parents Raymond and Ellen Janelle of Dover, his daughter Kaitlyn Marie of Lebanon, Maine, a sister Paula Janelle of Madbury and aunts, uncles and cousins. A mass of Christian burial was celebrated from St. Joseph Church with The Reverend John Poirier, associate pastor, as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Charles Cemetery. William F. Lamnick WWII Vet, Marine William F. Lamnick, 72, of Applevale Dr., died October 16, 2001 at the Riverside Rest Home. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA November 14, 1928 the son of Harry and Josephine (Koper) Lamnick. He lived in Dover for 40 years, moving from Somersworth. He was retired from the United States Marine Corps. While in the Marines, William was a cook and a baker. He served in World War II. After retiring from the Marines, he went on to work at the kitchens of the Portsmouth Hospital and the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, and also at the commissary at Pease Air Force Base. He was a proud member of the Marine Corps League. Members of his family include his wife of 50 years, Jeannette N. (Kimball) Lamnick of Dover; his daughters Ann (Mrs. Rick) Boylan of Rochester and Beth (Mrs.Frank) Arroyo of Dover; a brother David Lamnick of Pennsylvania; two grandchildren Holly Boylan and Kiyanna Hutchins; and a great-grandchild Jacob William Upton. A graveside service will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Freedom at a later date. Arrangements were with Tasker Funeral Home in Dover. The family requests donations be made in William’s memory to the Charot-Marie-Tooth Association, 2700 Chestnut Parkway, Chester, PA 19013. Thomas Berry Veteran, mechanic Thomas J. Berry Jr., 65, of 630 Silver Street died Friday, October 19, 2001, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital. Born November 18, 1935 in Dover, the son of Thomas and Margaret (Gallant) Berry Sr., he enjoyed outdoor sports including hunting, fishing and horseback riding. Berry was active in local youth sports as a coach for basketball, baseball and football. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was the owner and operator of Berry Transmission Service of Rollinsford. He was well known for his mechanical skills and enjoyed driving and working on older automobiles. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Monique (Daigle) Berry of Rollinsford; two sons, Gerald Berry and his wife Teresa of Lancaster, and Paul Berry and his wife Marcia of New Durham; one daughter, Mrs. Sandra McCleary and her husband James of Rollinsford; one sister, Mrs. Mary Therrien of Rollinsford, and six grandchildren, Jennifer, Crystal and April McCleary, and Bonnie, Benjamin and Daniel Berry. He was predeceased by one sister, Mrs. Irene Volinski. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated October 22 at St. Charles Church, with The Reverend Paul Gregoire, pastor, officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in New Town Cemetery, Rollinsford. Arrangements were with Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home of Dover and the Oyster River Crematory of Barrington.
