Included in the USGenWeb Archives with permission. http://seacoastonline.com Alice Pemberton Lifelong resident Alice Pemberton, 91, formerly of 16 ½ Florence St. died Wednesday, December 5, 2001 at Riverside Rest Home following a period of failing health. Born January 25, 1910 in Dover, she was the daughter of Harry L. and Gertrude M. (Otis) Pemberton. A lifelong resident of Dover, she enjoyed knitting and crossword puzzles. Alice was employed with Grant’s, JJ Newbury, and Lacy’s Department Store. She retired from Miller Shoe Company in 1962. There are no survivors. Funeral services were held Monday, December 10. 2001 at the Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, with The Reverend David Thompson officiating. Burial followed in Forest Glade Cemetery, Somersworth. Those who wish may make contributions in her memory to the Riverside Rest Home, County Farm Road, Dover, NH 03820. Phyllis A. Jewell York Hospital retiree Phyllis A. Jewell, 89, of Sullivan St., Berwick, ME, died Friday, December 7, 2001 at York Hospital. Born in Kittery on November 2, 1912 the daughter of George and Viola (Warren) Jewell she was a longtime resident of South Berwick prior to moving to Berwick. Prior to her retirement she worked in the laundry at the former York Harbor Hospital in York Harbor, ME. Several cousins including Philip Warren of Osterville, MA survive her. Funeral services were held at the McIntire-McCooey Funeral Home in South Berwick, with The Reverend Robert Cole, pastor of the Bethel Christian Church of North Berwick, ME, officiating. Burial followed in New Town Cemetery in Rollinsford. Catherine Palumbo Loving wife and mother Catherine M. Palumbo, 39, of 209 Milton Rd., Rochester, died Sunday, December 2, 2001 at her home. Born in Medford, MA June 30, 962, she was the daughter of William A. MacDougall and Kathleen F. (Dwyer) MacDougall. Cathy was a graduate of Dover High School, class of 1979. She was a loving wife and mother and will be greatly missed. She enjoyed the beach and motorcycling. Family members include her husband, Ralph J. Palumbo of Rochester; her mother and stepfather, Kathleen and Walter Estee of Rochester; her father, William A. MacDougall of DesMoines, IO; one daughter, Jennifer Turcotte of Rochester; one brother, Edward MacDougall of Duckey, FL; one sister, Deborah Laird of Florida, MA. A Mass of Christian bural was celebrated Thursday, December 6, 2001 at St. Charles Church, with The Reverend Paul Gregoire, pastor as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary New Cemetery, Dover. Margaret Whitehouse Loved God and family Margaret J. Whitehouse, 80, of 44 Hawaii Lane, Rochester, died after a brief illness, in the arms of her children. Born June 13, 1921 in Lynn, MA, she was the daughter of Harold and Jessie (Turnbull) Welner. A longtime resident of Dover, she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. A 60-year member of the Dover Baptist Church and former choir member, her legacy was her love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and her love and care for her family. The widow of the late Henry S. Whitehouse, she is survived by two sons, Robert A. Whitehouse and his wife, Elizabeth, of Keene and David J. Whitehouse and his wife, Mary, of Rochester; one brother Gordon Welner of Dover; three grandchildren, Peter Whitehouse, Susan Laird and Kimberly Mark; nine great-grandchildren, Anna, Julia and Emma Whitehouse, Stephen, Matthew, Christina and Timothy Laird, and David and Henry Mark; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services were held Thursday, December 6, 2001 at the Dover Baptist Church with The Reverend Kenneth Monahan, Pastor officiating. Burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery.
