Davis, 86, of 84 Henry Law Avenue died Monday, December 17, 2001 at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital. Born in Nottingham on August 23, 1915, the son of Smith Harrison and Marguerite (Sadler) Davis, he lived in Dover for most of his life. Prior to his retirement, Albert was a 39-year employee of the Boston & Maine Railroad and was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Workers Local 2820. He enjoyed telling stories of his years with the railroad. He was an avid walker, and started walking eight to 10 miles a day when he retired in 1979. He is survived by a daughter, Betty Davis of Rochester; a grandson and his wife, Glenn and Tammy MacDonald; a great-grandson, Ryan Russell MacDonald; two sisters, Helen Elwell of Barrington and Shirley Dionne of Ft. Myers, Fla.; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife to whom he had been married 63 years, Ann V. Davis, who died June 12, 2001; two brothers, Henry G. Davis and Edgar P. Davis; and a sister, Frances Leary. A Mass of Christian burial was held Friday, December 21, 2001 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, with The Reverend Robert Cole, pastor, as celebrant. Cynthia Allyson Homemaker, teacher Cynthia Allyson, 54, of Epping died Thursday, December 20, 2001, at the Eliot Hospital in Manchester. Born February 23, 1947, in Berlin, she was the daughter of the late Beryl Watson. Cynthia lived in California before moving to the Epping area 18 years ago. Cynthia was a homemaker for a number of years. Later, she was employed by the Epping Elementary School system as a teacher’s aid for seven years where she retired in 1996. She loved making crafts and quilts. Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Richard Allyson, a daughter, Tabatha Allyson of Epping; a brother, Leo O’ Neil of Berlin, and a sister, Judy O’ Neil of Washington. Cynthia was predeceased by her mother Beryl Watson. A graveside service was held Monday, December 24, 2001 at Pine Hill Cemetery, with The Reverend Robert Cole officiating. Fagan Veteran, GE retiree Donald A. Fagan, 76, died Tuesday, December 18, 2001, at the Dover Rehabilitation and Living Center after a long period of illness. A lifelong resident of Dover, he was born, February 7, 1925, the son of Arthur and Catherine (Callahan) Fagan. Donald served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He retired from General Electric in Somersworth after 36 years of service. He was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Irene (Grenier) Fagan of Dover; a son, James Fagan and his wife, Joanne of Wolfeboro; a brother, John E. Fagan of Dover; a grandson, Samuel Fagan; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A private service will be held after the Christmas holiday, with the Reverend Fritz Cerullo, pastor of St. Mary’s Church, officiating. (Weeden) Bateman, 58, died Thursday, December 20, 2001 at the Dover Rehabilitation and Living Center. Born on Dover on February 21, 1943 the daughter of Alfred and Evelyn (Haigh) Weeden, Sr., she had lived in Florida for a while where she worked for the Dole Fruit Company. She enjoyed the beach and collecting shells, which she made into lovely designs. After moving back to New Hampshire, she worked for a local shoe shop and Moore Business Forms. She is survived by her daughter and her husband Tamera and Dennis Harriman of Barrington; grandchildren Dennis Harriman II and Jessica Harriman of Barrington; her son John P. Bolstridge II and his children of Dover; her parents Alfred and Evelyn Weeden of Dover; two brothers, Reverend Alfred and his wife Nancy Weeden of Dover, and Thomas and his wife Roxanne of Rochester; a sister Jane and her husband William Crosby of Waterford, VT; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Monday, December 24, 2001 at the Tasker Funeral Home, with The Reverend Alfred Weeden officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Glade Cemetery in the spring. Philip Conway Veteran, police officer Philip J. Conway, 81, died Tuesday, December 18, 2001, at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital after a period of failing health. Born October 4, 1920, in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of Frederick and Grace (Pierce) Conway. A veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served as lieutenant with the State of New Hampshire National Guard until 1944. He was employed as general foreman with the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1982 after 26 years. He was a patrolman with the Dover Police Department from 1952 to 1960, and was a bail commissioner for the Dover District Court. He was a longtime active member of the Dover Baptist Church and was a member of the American Legion Dover Post since 1945. He is survived by two sons, Richard and Douglas, both of Dover; three daughters, Mrs. Beverly Wilson of Center Conway, Ms. Shirley Conway and Mrs. Lois Flanagan, both of Dover; a brother, Raymond Conway of Jefferson; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Dodge of Rochester, Mrs. Claire Baughn of Billerica, Mass., and Mrs. Ruth Gambardello of Dorchester, Mass.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Freda Eleanor (Joy) Conway, who died in 1993. Funeral services were held Friday, December 21, 2001 at the Dover Baptist Church, 151 Washington St., with The Reverend Kenneth Monahan, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in Pine Hill Cemetery. They are survived by two sons, William A. Evans and his wife, Diane of South Berwick, Maine, and Ross K. Evans and his wife, Bonnie of Rockwell, TX; two daughters, Corinne E. Wise and her husband, Frank of Bastrop, TX, and Maryanne E. Potter and her husband, James of Hillsborough, NC; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard A.
