Permission received to include in the USGenWeb Archives. Barbara D. Back NEWTON -- Barbara D. Back, 75, of 2 Hadley Road, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, in Exeter Hospital. She was born Nov. 20, 1925, in Lynn, Mass., the daughter of the late William T. and Dagmar J. (Dahlbom) Back. She was raised in Saugus, Mass., and had resided in Danville, Plaistow and most recently in Newton. Miss Back was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Exeter. She is survived by her caregivers, Mr. and Mrs. Cyril C. Poulsen of Plaistow, with whom she made her home for 24 years. She was predeceased by one brother, Roland Back. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Hampton Falls Road, Exeter. Friends may call at the church Monday from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service. Burial will follow in Meeting House Cemetery, Danville. Arrangements are by the Stockbridge Funeral Home, Exeter. Alice N. Leavitt DERRY -- Alice N. (Johnston) Leavitt, 79, of 3 Hood Road, died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at her home. She was born Jan. 21, 1922, in Plaistow, the daughter of the late Edgar and Emma (Newcomb) Johnston and had resided in Haverhill, Mass., until 1984 moving to Derry 17 years ago. She was a graduate of St. James High School. The widow of William J. Leavitt Jr., who died July 3, 2000, she is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Cynthia and William J. Croston of Raymond, Shelly J. Simmons of Derry, Virginia A. and Stephen Mitchell of Danville and Sandra L. Grover of Salisbury, Mass.; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael J. and Chris Leavitt of Londonderry, Patrick J. Leavitt of Bradford, Mass., Timothy W. and Cynthia Leavitt of Madison, Wis., and Daniel J. Leavitt of Andover, Mass.; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday in Holy Angels Church, Plaistow. Burial was in Holy Angels Cemetery, Plaistow. Arrangements were by the C. Frank Linnehan & Son Funeral Home, Haverhill. Rick S. McFarland SANDOWN -- Rick S. McFarland, 34, died Saturday, April 21, 2001, in Parkland Medical Center, Derry, after a lengthy illness. He was born Oct. 30, 1966, in Exeter, the son of Shirley (Farrington) McFarland of Raymond and the late Arnold L. McFarland and was a longtime resident of Raymond moving to Sandown seven years ago. He was a 1985 graduate of Raymond High School and a 1987 graduate of Hesser College, Manchester. He received his bachelor's degree in accounting and computer science from New Hampshire College. Mr. McFarland was a computer programmer at Hadco Corp., Derry. In addition to his mother, he is survived by one brother, Martin McFarland of Raymond; one nephew; several aunts and uncles, including Shirley Downing of Raymond; several cousins; and two godchildren, Derek Schmidt and Hope Daley. Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Brewitt Funeral Home, Raymond, with the Rev. Ronald Townsend officiating. Burial was in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Raymond. Lois K. Meaney DANVILLE -- Lois K. (Johnson) Meaney, 82, of 12 Kingston Road, died Sunday, April 22, 2001, in Exeter Hospital. She was a native and lifelong resident of Danville and was educated in Danville public schools and at the former Sanborn Seminary, Kingston. Mrs. Meaney was a stitcher with the local shoe industry retiring from the former LeMar Shoe Co. in Haverhill, Mass. She was a member of Danville Baptist Church and the Women's Auxiliary of the Carl Davis American Legion Post, Plaistow. She enjoyed crocheting, working puzzles and solitaire. The widow of Edward F. Meaney Sr., who died in 1996, she is survived by one daughter and her husband, Karen and Arthur Anderson of Atkinson; two sons, Edward F. Meaney Jr. and his wife Sharon of Fremont, and Robert C. Meaney and his companion Patricia Capazzi of Danville; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Bybee of Danville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Wednesday in Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, Plaistow. Burial was in Center Cemetery, Danville.
