Brown, 93, of Harriman Road, died Monday, May 7, 2001, at the Colonial Poplin Nursing Home, Fremont, after a period of failing health. She was born March 9, 1908, in Pittsfield, the daughter of the late Henry and Grace (Steele) Clark and had resided in Raymond for more than 70 years. Mrs. Brown enjoyed knitting, sewing and gardening. The widow of Glenn Brown, she is survived by two sons, Floyd I. Drew of Santee, Calif., and George Brown of Raymond; two daughters, Shirley F. Sullivan of Castleberry, Ala., and Nancy E. Mercier of Canada; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, On the Common, Raymond. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Floral Park Cemetery, Pittsfield. Grace L. Clark MERRIMAC, Mass. -- Grace L. Clark, 88, of 22 Emery St., died Sunday, May 6, 2001, at Mariner Healthcare, Methuen, Mass. She was born Sept. 23, 1912, in Millinocket, Maine, the daughter of the late Arthur and Annie (Taylor) Clark, moving to Merrimac in 1924. She was a 1929 graduate of Merrimac High School and a 1931 graduate of McIntosh Business School, Haverhill, Mass. Mrs. Clark worked at the Duck Inn Restaurant and Engle Lewis Counter Co., both in Merrimac, the Haverhill National Bank in Merrimac Square and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Welfare Department in Amesbury, Mass. She was an active member of the Merrimacport United Methodist Church and the Women's Society of the church where she organized many church suppers; a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 134 and the Homemakers Club, both of Merrimac. She and her late husband began the annual June Strawberry Festival in Merrimacport in the 1950s. The widow of Clifford K. Clark, who died in 1995, she is survived by two sons and their wives, Robert and Donna Clark of Largo, Fla., and Roger and Jeannette Clark of Lawrence, Mass.; one daughter, Sallie Nazarian of Haverhill; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ansel Clark of Plaistow, and Alva Clark and James Clark both of Merrimac; two sisters, Bertha Sugden of Salem and Silva Ouellette of Virginia; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, Lorin Clark, who was killed in World War II and buried in Epinal, France, in 1944. Memorial services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Merrimacport United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery, Merrimac. Rogers & Sons Funeral Home. Isabel Fields RAYMOND -- Isabel Fields, 88, of Route 27, died Saturday, May 5, 2001, in Exeter Hospital after a period of failing health. She was born April 4, 1913, in Kingston, the daughter of the late Clarence and Edith (Merrick) Sheldon. She had resided in Raymond for more than 50 years and was currently living with her son and daughter-in-law in Raymond. Mrs. Fields was employed by E&R Laundry and Standard Uniform, both of Manchester, and at Phillips Exeter Academy, Exeter. She enjoyed gardening. The widow of Robert Fields, who died in 1972, she is survived by two sons, Rene Desmarais of Raymond, with whom she made her home, and Robert Fields Jr. of Kittery, Maine; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Memorial services were held Wednesday in the Brewitt Funeral Home, Raymond, with the Rev. Wayne VanGundy officiating. Burial was in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Raymond. (Rutledge) Kelleher, 37, of 3A Oddfellows Road, died Sunday, May 6, 2001, in Exeter Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born in Stoneham, Mass., was raised in Melrose, Mass., and had resided in Winthrop, Mass. for 10 years before moving to East Hampstead two years ago. She was a 1982 graduate of Melrose High School. Mrs. Kelleher was a secretary in the emergency room of the Winthrop Health Center and had previously worked for Nelson and Small Distributors of Malden, Mass. She was a member of St. Anne's Parish, Hampstead. She is survived by her husband, William R. Kelleher; one daughter, Shannon M. Kelleher of East Hampstead; her mother and stepfather, Diane (Villella) and Donald Rawding of Hampstead; one brother, Wesley S. Rutledge IV of Farmington; her maternal grandparents, Bruno and Ruth Villella of Hampstead; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday in St. Anne's Church, Hampstead. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Park Cemetery, Peabody, Mass., at the convenience of the family. (Vigeant) Lortie, 58, of 9 Power St., died Friday, May 4, 2001, at her home after a brief illness. She was born Nov. 8, 1942, in Roxbury, Mass., the daughter of Edward and Stella (Bradley) Vigeant and had resided in Raymond since 1979. Mrs. Lortie was employed with Easter Seals in the vocational services area. She enjoyed working on her computer and her family. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Denis R. Lortie Sr.; one son, Denis R. Lortie Jr. of Ft. Knox, Ken.; one daughter Danielle J. Stevens of Raymond; two grandchildren; two sisters, Jacqueline Hall of Rockland, Mass., and Judy McCollum of Burnsville, MN; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday in St. Joseph Church, Epping. Burial was in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Raymond. McHowell, 37, of Ferguson Lane, died Friday, May 4, 2001, in Parkland Medical Center, Derry, following a sudden illness. He was born Aug. 25, 1963, in Norwood, Mass., the son of David McHowell of Walpole, Mass., and Helen (Wilson) McHowell of Canton, Mass., and had resided in Sandown for five years coming from Derry. He was a 1981 graduate of Canton High School and a 1986 graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. Mr. McHowell was the regional TFS manager for Safety-Kleen in No. Andover, Mass. At one time he was a park ranger at Yellowstone National Park. He attended United Church of Christ in Canton. He enjoyed hiking, fishing, hunting, scuba diving and sports. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Susanne, D. (Pederson) McHowell of Sandown; one son, Nicolaj McHowell of Sandown; one daughter, Emma M. McHowell of Sandown; one sister, Elinor Painter of Stoughton, Mass.; one brother, William McHowell of Readville, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews, one aunt and uncle and cousins. Memorial services were held Wednesday in United Church of Christ, Canton. Arrangements were by the Peabody Funeral Home, Derry. Daniel K. Smith NOTTINGHAM -- Daniel K. Smith, 39, of 106 Smoke St., died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, in Portsmouth Regional Hospital. He was born in Haverhill, Mass., was raised in Plaistow and had resided in Stratham before moving to Nottingham. He attended the Pollard School and was a 1980 graduate of Timberlane Regional High School, Plaistow. He attended Plymouth State College and received his bachelor's degree in regional planning and development from the University of New Hampshire. Mr. Smith was a co-founder and partner of Smith-Wessel Associates, Inc., an environmental consulting firm established in 1995 in Merrimac, Mass. He was a member of the National Institute of Building Sciences; the National Lead Abatement Council; and the New England Environmental Information Association. He was listed as an honored professional in the 1996-97 edition of Who's Who in Executives and Businesses. He was an avid outdoorsman and naturalist and enjoyed fishing, bird watching and gardening. He is survived by his wife, Diane L. (DeGloria) Smith; his mother, Eleanor (Nelson) Smith of Kingston; two brothers, William Haggerty of Seabrook and Bradley Smith of South Alton; one sister, Kimberly Kissel of Plaistow; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Calling hours will be held Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Warrington, 76, died Wednesday, May 9, 2001, in Hale Hospital, Haverhill, Mass. She was born Oct. 31, 1924, in Putney, Vt., the daughter of the late John J. and Ethel (Aiken) Lyons. She was the valedictorian of Salem (Mass.) Classical High School class of 1943 and attended Salem Evening School. Mrs. Warrington was a secretary in Boston and at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Exeter for many years. She was a ham radio operator with the call letters WB1EOF. The widow of Edwin G. Warrington Jr., who died June 14, 2000, she is survived by one daughter, Eileen Erin Wentworth of Rochester; two sons, Timothy Warrington and Mark Warrington, both of Portsmouth; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, William Lyons of Putney; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, John C. Lyons, and one sister, Eleanor Lansing. Private burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Kingston. Arrangements are by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter.
