Permission received to include in the USGenWeb Archives. James P. Assad HAMPTON -- James P. Assad, 75, died Sunday, May 20, 2001, at Partridge House, Hampton. He was born July 28, 1925, in Lawrence, Mass., the son of the late Peter and Diane (Daher) Assad. He resided in Seabrook for 10 years and in Kensington for 26 years before moving to Hampton in February of 2000. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in Italy, France and Germany. He was the recipient of three Bronze Battle Stars for valor and the Purple Heart with an oak leaf cluster. Mr. Assad owned and operated Jimmy's Restaurant in Seabrook and the Flagship Drive-in at Hampton Beach during the 1960s and 70s. He was also a mechanic for Western Electric in Andover, Mass., for several years. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Post 13 of Exeter. The widower of Hazel M. (Tebbetts) Assad, his wife of 51 years who died in February, he is survived by three sons, Peter J. Assad of Ft. Meyers, Fla., David A. Assad of Salisbury, Mass., and Gary M. Assad of Raymond; two daughters, Karen E. Coles of Olympia, Wash., and Nancy D. Rossborough of Cornish Flats; seven grandchildren; two great-grandsons; three brothers, Tufic J. Assad and George P. Assad, both of Methuen, Mass., and Michael P. Assad of Seabrook; one sister, Rita Charmanski of Newburyport, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews. There are no calling hours. Services will be held Saturday, May 26, at 1 p.m. in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 13, 32 Court St., Exeter, NH 03833. Helen P. Robie KINGSTON -- Helen P. Robie, 101, died Sunday, May 20, 2001, in Exeter Hospital. She was born May 15, 1900, in Kingston, the daughter of Leslie and Bertha (Swett) Page and was a lifelong resident of Kingston. She was a graduate of Sanborn Seminary, Kingston. Mrs. Robie and her husband owned Robie's Greenhouse on Main Street at one time. She was a devoted homemaker. The widow of Morton Robie, she is survived by three sons, Bernard Robie and his wife Natalie, Loren Robie and his wife Cecile, Forrest Robie and Carroll Robie; two daughters, Madeline Evans and her husband Arthur and Carolyn Robie; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one son, Wesley Robie, and one daughter, Frances Robie. Funeral services were held Wednesday in First Congregational Church of Kingston. Pall bearers were her grandchildren, Michael Robie, Jeffrey Robie, Arthur Evans III, Kevin Evans, Morton Robie and Wesley Robie. Memorial donations may be made to the First Congregational Church, P.O. Box 203, Kingston, NH 03848. John S. Pomykato CLAREMONT -- John S. Pomykato, 79, of Park Avenue, died Friday, May 18, 2001, at his home. He was born Oct. 21, 1921, in West Rutland, Vt., the son of Joseph and Henrietta (Krentowicz) Pomykato and had resided in Claremont since 1946. He was a 1939 graduate of West Rutland High School and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving as a sergeant with the anti-aircraft artillery in Panama, Guatemala and the Galapagos Islands in the South Pacific. Mr. Pomykato was the general manager of Encore Shoe Corp. of Newport, retiring in 1989. He had previously been employed in various shoe manufacturing plants as a supervisor. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church where he served on the parish council and as an usher. He was a member of Father Cote Council and Father Cote Assembly Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus and a member of the American Legion Post No. 29. He was an avid gardener, motorcyclist and skier. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Stella (Jakuboski) Pomykato of Claremont; one son and his wife, John F. and Jennifer Pomykato of Hampstead; three grandchildren; one sister, Helen Piscitelli of Hamden, Conn.; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Frank J. Pomykato, and two sisters, Mary Markowski and Stella Markowski. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday in St. Joseph Church with the Rev. Stanley J. Piwowar as celebrant. Military burial was in St. Mary Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Church Renovation Fund, P.O. Box 824, Claremont, NH 03743.
