Ruth Daley NEWFIELDS -- Ruth "Tony" (White) Daley, 87, of Piscassic Road, died Monday, June 4, 2001, in Exeter Hospital after a period of failing health. She was born March 7, 1914, in Newark, N.J., the daughter of James and Etta White, and had resided in Newfields for many years. She was a graduate of Plymouth State College and studied music at Yale Summer School. Mrs. Daley taught elementary school in Old Saybrook, Conn., Fremont, Kingston and at Pease Air Force Base, Newington. She enjoyed playing the piano and her flower garden. The widow of John J. Daley Sr., who died in 1980, she is survived by one daughter-in-law, Cora Daley of Newfields; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Thursday in the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, Newmarket. with the Rev. Robert Collinge officiating. D'Amelio, 58, of 94 New Boston Road, died Monday, June 4, 2001, in Portsmouth Regional Hospital. He was born in Cambridge, Mass. and resided in the Boston area before moving to Kingston in 1969. He was educated in Alston, Mass., schools. Mr. D'Amelio owned and operated Ralph D'Amelio Stables in Kingston where he trained horses for harness racing. He was a former driver on the east coast harness racing circuit and won several races including the Governor's Cup in Rochester and the Deleware Raceway Cup. He was a member of the New England Horsemen's Protection Benevolent Association and the United States Trotter's Association. He is survived by his wife, Terry A. (Haywood) D'Amelio; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Vincent P. and Heidi D'Amelio of Exeter, Ralph P. and Elizabeth D'Amelio II and Roger T. D'Amelio, all of Kingston; two daughters, Emily D'Amelio of Rockland, Mass., and Tracey L. D'Amelio of Kingston; seven grandchildren; five brothers, James D'Amelio of Medford, Mass., Robert D'Amelio of Wrentham, Mass., Anthony D'Amelio of East Kingston, Paul D'Amelio of Chelsea Mass., and Alfred D'Amelio of Alston; six sisters, Josephine Tilmman of Danvers, Mass., Joyce McCarthy and Florence D'Amelio of Newton, Mass., Judith McWhinnie of Alston, Angela Hannon of Watertown, Mass., and Emily Mazzola of Natick, Mass.; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Kingston. Howard A. Evans NOTTINGHAM -- Howard A. Evans, 69, of Little River Road, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, in Exeter Hospital after a sudden illness. He was born Jan. 25, 1932, in Nashua, the son of the late Paul and Marion (Gilson) Evans. He was raised in Derry and resided in Epping from 1955 until 1994. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving on the USS Wasp from 1950-1954. Mr. Evans was a custodian at the Raymond Middle School for several years, retiring in 1999. He had previously owned and operated Evans Poultry Farm in Epping. He enjoyed woodworking and was an avid golfer. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Carole (Goodheart) Evans of Nottingham; one son, Alan Evans of Epping; one daughter, Karen Noury of Barrington; three grandchildren; five brothers, Paul Evans of Madison, Wis., Robert Evans of Barnstead, Arthur Evans of Derry, Wayne Evans of Falmouth, Mass., and Lawrence Evans of Hampstead; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services were held Saturday, June 2, in the Brewitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne VanGundy officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery, Epping, at a later date. Lord, 69, died Sunday, June 3, 2001, in Lawrence General Hospital, Lawrence, Mass. He was born in Exeter and had resided in Salem for 34 years coming from Laconia. He was educated in Exeter schools and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. Mr. Lord owned and operated a family business in Plaistow for 15 years. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church, Salem, and enjoyed boating and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Ladrea (Nowak) Lord of Salem; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Maria Lord of Derry, Kevin and Darlene Lord of Bricktown, N.J., and Keith Lord of Plaistow; two daughters, Cynthia Lord and Karen Vogler, both of Salem; six grandchildren; one sister, Helen Gage of Stratham; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday in St. Joseph Church, Salem. Burial was in Exeter Cemetery. Arrangements was by the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, Salem. Myron R. Ordway EXETER -- Myron R. Ordway, 86, of Lane Street, died Saturday, June 2, 2001, at Rockingham County Nursing Home, Brentwood, after a period of failing health. He was born Dec. 10, 1914, in Hampstead, the son of the late Richard and Edna (Clark) Ordway, and had resided in Hampstead and Danville before moving to Exeter 30 years ago. Mr. Ordway was a mechanic for most of his life with MacMotors in Manchester. He was last employed by Wise Shoe Co. in Exeter. The widower of Alice (George) Ordway, who died in 1976, he is survived by three daughters, Nancy Waleryszak of Exeter, Verna Morrison of Londonderry, and Wanda Morgan of Old Town, Fla.; one son, Roger Ordway of Chiefland, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lorraine Smith of Haverhill, Ann Judkins of Conventry, Conn., and Harriet Johnson of Brockton, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Daniel Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Hampstead. Wiggin RAYMOND -- Neal Albert Wiggin, 70, of 4 Feng Drive, died Thursday, May 31, 2001 at his home. He was born in Conway, the son of Mark and Amber Wiggin. He was a graduate of Kennett High School, Conway, received his bachelor's degree from Plymouth State College and his master's degree from the University of New Hampshire. Mr. Wiggin retired from Seabrook Station after 17 years of service. He was the training manager traveling to several nuclear plants to teach classes and was the featured speaker at several Mantag Instructor Workshops, sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic Nuclear Training Group. He had previously taught at North Woodstock High School, Spaulding High School, Barre Vt., Exeter High School, Winnacunnet High School, Greenwich (Conn.) High School and Timberlane High School. He was the first principal of Conval High School, Peterborough, and later principal of Hopkinton High School, Contoocook. On school vacations he worked for the Vermont State Highway department and later was a member of the Hampton Police Department. He wrote two study guides for Dell Publishing Co. and articles for the Mathematics Teacher and the English Journal. He also reviewed study modules for Robert Norton of Ohio State University. While teaching at Winnacunnet High School he was awarded a John Hay Fellowship to Harvard University. He was listed in the 1986-87 edition of Who's Who in he East and in the 1993-94 edition of Who's Who in the World. He was a ham radio operator for 45 years. and enjoyed golfing and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Helene Harriman; one son, Dayle; two grandsons; three sisters, Ruth, Marion and Frances; three brothers, Arthur, Perley and Ralph; and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements were by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Raymond. Mabelle F. Vass HAMPSTEAD -- Mabelle F. (Drury) Vass, 80, died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, in Elliot Hospital, Manchester, following an extended illness. She was born in Woonsocket, R.I., and had resided in Hampstead since 1967. She was educated in Bellingham, Mass., schools, was a 1938 graduate of Franklin (Mass.) High School and attended Dean Junior College. Mrs. Vass was a telephone operator for New England Telephone & Telegraph for 30 years. She was a member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church. She was the former chairman of the Hampstead Senior Citizen's Committee and keeper of the key of the Hampstead Meetinghouse; a life member of the Order of Eastern Star; a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America; and a volunteer and committee member for the United Way of Hampstead. She is survived by two sons, Nicholas Vass of Florida and Brian Vass of Nashua. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, East Road, Hampstead.
