Permission received to include in the USGenWeb Archives. John S. Chandler PLAISTOW -- John S. "Jack" Chandler, 78, died Tuesday, June 12, 2001, in Rockingham County Nursing Home, Brentwood. He was born in Haverhill, Mass., and attended the former Haverhill Trade School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Chandler was a clerk at the N.H. State Liquor Store in Plaistow for many years and later worked as a delivery person for the Rockingham County Meals on Wheels Program. He was a member of Holy Angels Parish and the Carl Davis Post of the American Legion of Plaistow. He was an avid reader. The widower of Arlene (Richard) Chandler, he is survived by one daughter and her husband, Susan and Richard Morneau of Plaistow; one granddaughter; two brothers, Leon Chandler of Haverhill and Tony Chandler of Norfolk, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one grandson, Jonathan Morneau. Private funeral services will be held in Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, Plaistow. Burial will be in Holy Angels Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Plaistow Public Library, Main St., Plaistow, NH 03865. Col. William S. Crocker Jr. SALEM -- Col. William S. Crocker Jr., (U.S. Army Ret.) 87, of 34 Liberty St., died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at his home. He was born July 6, 1913, in Bourne, Mass., the son of the late William S. and Dorothy (Crane) Crocker. He had resided in Manchester and Pittsburgh, Pa., before moving to Salem in 1996. He summered in Nonovitt, South Dartmouth, Mass. He was a 1938 graduate of West Point Military Academy, West Point, N.Y., and received his master of science degree from the University of California at Berkeley. Col. Crocker served with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for 30 years retiring in 1968. He served during World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was a member of the West Point Alumni Association. The widower of Jean I. (Inbusch) Crocker who died in 1997, he is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Louise C. and Rev. David M. Midwood of Salem and Dorothy C. and George C. Furlow of Pittsburgh; seven grandchildren; and two sisters, Ann C. Wheeler of Westport Point, Mass., and Joan Crocker of South Dartmouth. Funeral services will be held in St. Aidan's Chapel, South Dartmouth, at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the C. Frank Linnehan & Son Funeral Home, Haverhill, Mass. Rev. Raymond A. Gay HAMPSTEAD -- Rev. Raymond A. Gay, 81, formerly of Emerson Village, died Tuesday, June 12, 2001, in the Rockingham County Nursing Home, Brentwood. He was born March 24, 1920, in Meriden, Conn., the son of the late Arthur M. and Carrie (Uhretta) Gay, and had resided in Kingston and Manchester. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a 1952 graduate of the New England School of Theology. Rev. Gay pastored the Advent Christian Church in Portsmouth and Old Orchard Beach and Mechanic Falls, Maine. He also worked with the Youth Ministries Advent Christian Church Camp in Alton Bay and served as worship leader at St. Matthew's United Methodist Church, Sandown, for several years. He had previously been employed in the dry cleaning business in Manchester; Connecticut; Mechanic Falls, Maine; Haverhill, Mass.; and Plaistow. He is survived by his wife, Alma B. (Gosselin) Gay of Brentwood; one daughter and her husband, Loretta and William Will of Lewiston, Maine; one stepson and his wife, Robert and Arline Janvrin of Hampstead; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, the Rev. Frederick Gay of Pennfield, New Brunswick, Canada; one aunt; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister, Marguerite DuBord; and one grandson, William David Will Jr. who died in June of 2001. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. in St. Matthew's United Methodist Church, Sandown. Burial will be in Willowgrove Cemetery, Newton. Box 435, Sandown, NH 03873. Arrangements are by the Peabody Funeral Home, Derry. Sylvain A. Michaud HAMPSTEAD -- Sylvain A. Michaud, 35, of Grove Drive, died Thursday, June 7, 2001, at his home. He was born May 12, 1966, in Quebec, Canada, the son of Andre and Jacqueline (Brousseau) Michaud of St. Louis Du'Haha, Canada, and had resided in Hampstead for seven years, coming from Salem. He was a 1985 graduate of Pinkerton Academy, Derry. Mr. Michaud was a mechanic at Crown Cork & Seal in Lawrence, Mass. He was a communicant of St. Anne Parish in Hampstead and was an avid hunter and fisherman. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Wendy S. (Miele) Michaud of Hampstead; three children, Andrew Michaud, Alex Michaud and Samuel Michaud, all of Hampstead; one sister, Sylvie Ernst of Derry; and his paternal grandparents, Rene and Rita Michaud of Caveno, Canada. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday in St. Anne Church, Hampstead. Burial was in Lakeview Cemetery, Hampstead. Arrangements were by the Peabody Funeral Home, Derry. Pauline V. Miller RAYMOND -- Pauline V. Miller, 83, of Ledgewood Lane, died Tuesday, June 12, 2001, in Exeter Hospital after a period of failing health. She was born July 6, 1917, in Exeter, the daughter of the late William E. and Elizabeth M. (Barlow) Lancaster and had resided in Exeter and Kingston before moving to Raymond in 1958. She wintered in St. Petersburg, Fla., for 20 years. Mrs. Miller enjoyed shopping and bingo. The widow of Elwin W. Miller Sr., her husband of 63 years who died in 2000, she is survived by two daughters, Marlene Dionne of Raymond and Carol Nelson of St. Petersburg; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Priscilla Archie of New Durham; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son, Elwin W. Miller Jr., and two grandsons, Darren Dionne and Fred Bernier. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Brewitt Funeral Home, On the Common, Raymond, with the Rev. Ronald Townsend officiating. Burial will follow in Exeter Cemetery.
