Pendergast Sr. HAMPTON -- Raymond Albert Pendergast Sr., 69, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, in Exeter Hospital after a lengthy battle with brain cancer. He was born in Salem and had summered at Hampton Beach since 1968. He was a former president of Greenlands Association, a private group of cottage owners. He was a U.S. Naval Air Force veteran serving as a jet mechanic in Texas during the Korean War. Mr. Pendergast was the manager of productions control and purchasing for Diamond Crystal Specialty Foods, Wilmington, Mass., retiring in 1990 after 25 years of service. He had previously been a milk delivery man for the former Law's Dairy in Salem and Lawrence's Tower Hill district from 1958 until 1961. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Nancy J. (Shea) Pendergast; three sons, Raymond A. Pendergast Jr. of St. Petersburg, Fla., Patrick M. Pendergast and his wife Rebecca of Hampton, and Timothy S. Pendergast of Raymond; one grandson; one brother, Harry J. Pendergast of St. Petersburg; and several nieces and nephews. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. Bernard E. Robie KINGSTON -- Bernard Elmer Robie, 76, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born April 10, 1925, in Kingston, the son of the late Morton and Helen (Page) Robie and was a lifelong resident of Kingston. His mother died May 20. He was a decorated World War II veteran serving in the European Theatre. Mr. Robie was the postmaster in Kingston for 33 years and was a substitute teacher at Sanborn Regional for 14 years. He was a founding member of the Kingston Veterans Club; served as a leader of the Kingston Carnival Committee for 30 years; served as Cubmaster; was president of the PTA; a member of the Lions Club; the Kingston Fire Department; the Veterans of Foreign Wars; the Disabled American Veterans; the Order of the Purple Heart; and served as a selectman in Kingston. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Natalie (Braley) Robie of Kingston; two sons, Jeffrey Robie of Kingston and Michael Robie of Keene; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; three brothers, Forest Robie and Loren Robie, both of Kingston, and Carroll Robie of Fremont; two sisters, Madeline Evans and Carolyn Robie, both of Kingston; and several nieces and nephews. There are no calling hours. Memorial services will be held Saturday, Sept. 8, at 10 a.m. in First Congregational Church of Kingston. Arrangements are by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter. Vernon F. Williams FREMONT -- Vernon F. Williams, 78, of 10 Andreski Drive, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, at his home. He was born June 21, 1923, in Everett, Mass., the son of Edna J. (Steeves) Williams of Danvers, Mass., and the late Foster Williams. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Williams was the founder and president of Omni Lite in Burlington, Mass. He was an electrical lighting manufacturer's representative and was responsible for the design of the lighting at the Faneuil Hall Marketplace, Boston. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 17 years, Claire M. (Meyer) Williams; one daughter, Katherine Curtis of Medford, Mass.; three sons, Kenneth Williams of Cabot, Vt., and Vernon F. Williams Jr. and Alan Williams, both of Massachusetts; one stepdaughter, Joan Comrie of Deerfield; three stepsons, Russell Kelly of Fairbanks, Alaska, Martin Kelly of Tyngsboro, Mass., and John Kelly of Beechwood, N.J.; six grandchildren; two brothers, Douglas Williams of Rosewell, Ga., and Dr. Dana Williams of Houston; and several nieces and nephews.
