Permission received to include in the USGenWeb Archives. Alice E. Grandmaison HAMPTON -- Alice E. (Donovan) Grandmaison, 85, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, at her home. She was born April 27, 1916, in Lawrence, Mass., the daughter of the late William and Mary "Mollie" (Byrne) Donovan, and had resided in Hampton since 1976. She was a graduate of St. Mary's High School, Lawrence. Mrs. Grandmaison worked for New England Telephone, now Verizon, for 41 years, retiring in 1976 and later was a hostess at the Ashworth Hotel and a clerk at the Hampton Beach Casino Gift Shop for many years. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton, and a former member of St. Patrick Church in South Lawrence. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America; the Quota Club; and the Seacoast Women's Group. She enjoyed walking on the beach and traveling and was the judge during boogie board competitions. She is survived by one daughter and her husband, Doris and Ed Michaud of Atkinson; one son and his wife, Christopher and Susan Dolan of Hampton; one stepson and his wife, John and Pat Grandmaison of Hampton; five grandchildren; two brothers, John Donovan of Revere, Mass., and Edward Donovan of Stuart, Fla.; two sisters, Helen Driscoll of Methuen, Mass., and Marion Chafetz of Washington, D.C.; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Joseph T. Dolan, who died in 1969; her second husband, Paul A. Grandmaison, who died in 1986; and two brothers, William Donovan and Francis Donovan. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church. Burial was in High Street Cemetery, Hampton. Maloof PLAISTOW -- Richard G. Maloof, 78, of 19 Wentworth Ave., died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at his home. He was born Aug. 28, 1923, in Montreal, Canada, the son of the late George M. and Gertrude J. (O'Rourke) Maloof and had resided in Haverhill and Bradford, Mass., before moving to Plaistow in 1956. He was a graduate of Haverhill High School and attended Merrimack College, No. Andover, Mass. Mr. Maloof was a supervisor with Lucent Technologies, Inc., No. Andover, retiring in 1981 after 37 years of service. He was a member of Holy Angels Parish, Plaistow; St. Jude Council Knights of Columbus, Plaistow; fourth degree Father O'Doherty Assembly Knights of Columbus, Haverhill; and a member of the Catholic School Board for the Diocese of Manchester. He had served as a basketball coach for Holy Angles Catholic Youth Organization. He is survived by his wife, Marion E. (Angers) Maloof of Plaistow; two sons, Richard G. Maloof of Fremont and Robert J. Maloof and his wife Rose of Hampton; two granddaughters; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Leavitt NEWTON -- Helen E. (Kennett) Leavitt, 84, of 19 Maple Ave., died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home, Brentwood, after a brief illness. She was born Feb. 3, 1917, the daughter of Forrest M. and Marion (Taylor) Kennet and had resided in Newton for more than 45 years. Mrs. Leavitt was active with the Newton Historical Society; the First Christian Church; the Newton Silver Tops Senior Citizens Group; the Kingston Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars; and the Exeter Chapter of the Disabled American Veterans. The widow of Raymond O. Leavitt, she is survived by three sons, William Leavitt of Newton, George Perkins of Groton, Conn., and Lowell Eaton of York, Maine; one stepson, Raymond Leavitt of Maine; one stepdaughter, Lorraine Milligan of Indiana; 16 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one son, John R. Leavitt, who died in 1990; and one brother, Frederick S. Kennett of Seabrook who died in 2000. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter with the Rev. Mitchell Green officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Kingston. Walker, 76, of Evelyn Avenue, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home, Brentwood, after a lengthy illness. He was born Nov. 25, 1924, in Jefferson, the son of the late Harry and Clara (Towle) Walker and had resided in Raymond for 25 years. Mr. Walker was employed by James Seavey in Newmarket for 32 years. He was an avid horse puller who was well known for his green cap with the turned up visor. He was one of the original members of the Eastern Draft Horse Association. He was a stock car driver for many years at Groveton, Beachridge. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary (Merrill) Walker of Raymond; two sons, Rodney E. Walker Jr. of Raymond and Harry Walker and his wife Amy of Candia; two daughters and their husbands, Nancy and Richard Burleigh of Brentwood and Susan and Alan Smith of Raymond; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter, and one sister, Betty Drady of Epping. Funeral services were held Wednesday in the Brewitt Funeral Home, Raymond. Burial was in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Raymond.
