John Carver FREMONT -- John "Jack" Carver, 87, of Main Street, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, in Exeter Hospital after a period of failing health. He was born June 7, 1914, in Milo, Maine, the son of the late Eleazor and Helen (Sanborn) Carver. He had resided in Epping for 25 years and in Merrimac, Mass., for 30 years. At the time of his death he was a resident of Colonial Poplin Nursing Home in Fremont. Mr. Carver was a self-employed farmer in Merrimac for many years. He was very active with the New England Draft Horse Association. The husband of the late Helen Carver, he is survived by one son, John E. Carver of Atkinson; one daughter, Priscilla Carver of South Boston; one granddaughter; two brothers, Joseph Carver and Albion Carver, both of Reno, Nev.; and several nieces and nephews. There are no calling hours. Memorial services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Epping Community Church, Pleasant Street, Epping. Frank W. Chase Sr. KINGSTON -- Frank W. Chase Sr., 79, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001, at Rockingham County Nursing Home, Brentwood, after a lengthy illness. He was born July 31, 1922, in Haverhill, Mass., the son of the late David D. and Jane (Thompson) Chase. He had resided in Center Ossipee and Epping and had been a long-time resident of Kingston. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving for four years. Mr. Chase was an engineer associate at Western Electric and had previously done masonry work. He was a member of the Richard A. Mitchell American Legion Post 51 of Epping; the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Ossipee; the Ossipee Valley Masonic Lodge No. 74; and Bektash Temple. He was a Scout leader with the Kingston Cub Scouts for several years. The husband of the late Agnes (George) Chase, who died in 1999, he is survived by one son, Frank W. Chase Jr. of Kingston; one daughter, Donna Christopher of Kingston; four grandchildren; one sister, June Hermanson of Monson, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, David Chase, and one sister, Florence Chase. Funeral services were held Monday in Peoples United Methodist Church, Fremont, with the Rev. John Barner officiating. Arrangements were by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter. Mildred A. Runcie RAYMOND -- Mildred A. Runcie, 61, of 66 Barberry Lane, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001. She was born Nov. 11, 1939, in South Boston, Mass., the daughter of the late James and Mary (Kemmitt) Knapp and had resided in Raymond for 10 years. Mrs. Runcie was a graduate of South Boston High School. She is survived by two sons, Edward Runcie and David Runcie, both of Raymond; one daughter, Michelle Wallace of Farmington; seven grandchildren; four brothers, James Knapp Jr. of Marshfield, Mass., Charles Knapp of Georgia, and Roger Knapp and Richard Knapp, both of South Boston; three sisters, Dorothy Knapp of South Boston, Evelyn Travers of Florida and Eileen Annello of Rochester, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Wilfred J. Coutu MANCHESTER -- Wilfred J. Coutu, 79, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at St. Theresa Manor after a brief illness. He was born March 5, 1922, in Lowell, Mass., the son of the late Eugene and Alma (Chalifoux) Coutu. He had resided in Dracut, Mass., and Raymond before moving to Manchester. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict. Mr. Coutu was a painter at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Bedford, Mass., for more than 20 years. After his retirement he was a manager at CEI Corp. in Manchester for more than five years. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus in Dracut. The husband of the late Juliette (Chalifoux) Coutu, he is survived by three sons, Wilfred Coutu of Newmarket, Marc Coutu of Pembroke and Robert Coutu of Raymond; two daughters, Veronica Borlek of Elkton, Ore., and Yoland Vasselian of Magnolia, Texas; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, Roland Coutu of Lowell; four sisters, Yvonne Amatisto of Washington, Rita Mastrullo of Chelmsford, Mass., Doris Chalifoux of Dracut and Sister Gertrude Coutu, SGO, of Lowell; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers, Gerald Coutu, Harve Coutu, Henri Coutu, Leonel Coutu and Maurice Coutu; and one sister, Lillian Myers. Memorial services were held Thursday in the chapel at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, Manchester. Burial will be in Lowell at the convenience of the family. To view an on-line memorial go to www.csnh.com. Howard Haskell NOTTINGHAM -- Howard "Hack" Haskell, 67, of 5 Dolloff Dam Road, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, in Exeter Hospital after a sudden illness. He was born July 31, 1934, in Burlington, Vt., the son of the late George Haskell and Katherine Haskell Geer. He had resided in Keene and in Candia moving to Nottingham in 1987. He served with the U.S. National Guard in Vermont from 1957 until 1967. Mr. Haskell was a car and truck salesman for 46 years, working as a sales representative for Liberty International Trucks, Inc., in Manchester for more than 20 years. He was a member of the Club Mont Royale, Manchester, where he was a cribbage team captain and was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in Keene. He was a stock car racing enthusiast and enjoyed doing genealogy research. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Lois (Phelps) Haskell of Nottingham; two sons, Mark Haskell of Manchester and Gene Haskell of Hooksett; one daughter, Donna Varnadoe of Griffin, Ga.; four grandchildren; two sisters, Marion Blake of Walpole and Barbara Chilson of Mira Loma, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, On the Common, Raymond. Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Terry Shannahan officiating. Burial will be Monday at 1 p.m. in Village Cemetery, Walpole. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association of N.H., P.O.
