Nellie Bassett FREMONT -- Nellie Bassett, 99, of Scribner Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at Colonial Poplin Nursing Home, after a lengthy illness. She was born Oct. 12, 1902, in New Bedford, Mass., the daughter of the late Clarence and Pearl (Evarts) Davis and had resided in Fremont since 1918. Mrs. Bassett and her late husband ran the Lockfield Farm for more than 50 years. She was active with the National Grange and the Ladies Group of People's United Methodist Church, Fremont. She was the oldest resident of Fremont and was awarded the Boston Post Cane in April. Mrs. Bassett enjoyed oil painting and taught rug hooking in her younger years. The widow of George Bassett, who died in 1973, she is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Stanley of Fremont; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Viola Horton of Crescent Beach, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. There are no calling hours. Graveside services will be held in Village Cemetery, Fremont, at the convenience of the family. Eaton BRENTWOOD -- Pauline A. Eaton, 87, of 117 North Road, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home. She was born Aug. 16, 1914, in Seabrook, the daughter of the late Corydon and Bernice (Caswell) Perkins, and had resided in Brentwood for four years. Mrs. Eaton was a heel coverer at the former Gorevitz Shoe Co., Amesbury, Mass., for more than 34 years. She then worked as a model and sales lady at Arlene's Dress Shop in Salisbury, Mass., was a clam shucker and worked for Bailey's Corp. in Seabrook. She was a former member of the Senior Citizens; the American Legion Auxiliary; and the Friends of the Library, all of Seabrook. The widow of William W. Eaton, she is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Gloria and Allan Cunningham of Atkinson and Shirley and Walter Small of Brentwood; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ernest Perkins, Harry Perkins and Corydon "Jimmy" Perkins, all of Seabrook; a brother-in-law, Clarence Allard of Salisbury; and several nieces and nephews. A service of sharing was held Wednesday at Simplicity Burial & Cremation Services, Newburyport, Mass. Richard C. Ollila HAMPTON -- Richard C. Ollila, 69, of 12 Homestead Circle, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, in Exeter Hospital. He was born July 15, 1932, in Hancock, Mich., the son of the late Matt A. and Nelma (Hakala) Ollila. He lived most of his life in New England and had resided in Hampton for 15 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany. Mr. Ollila was an engineer and president of his company, Scandia Plastics of Plaistow. After his retirement he owned and operated a dairy farm and Fawlty Acres, a bed and breakfast in New York, for 11 years. He was a member of the National Farmers Organization. He loved gardening, classical music, growing flowers and apple trees. He is survived by his wife, Sally (Curran) Ollila; two sons, Thomas A. Ollila of Wilmington, Mass., and Robert G. Ollila of Goffstown; four daughters, Kathryn A. Perrault of Alton, Kimberly D. Slemp of Exeter, Theresa L. Ollila of Concord and Geraldine Pickus of Portland, Maine; 14 grandchildren; and one brother, Wallace Ollila of Jackson, Mich. He was predeceased by one sister, Florence George. Funeral services were held Thursday in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton. Private burial will be in New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
