Benjamin MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- James Curtis Benjamin, 78, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, at Fletcher Allen Health Care, Burlington, Vt. He was born Jan 22, 1923, in Barre, Vt., the son of John F. and Gertrude (House) Benjamin. He had resided in Middlebury since 1946. He was a graduate of Vergennes (Vt.) High School and received his degree from Becker College. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II serving in the North African Theater and in Italy. Mr. Benjamin and his brother operated Benjamin Brothers Dry Cleaning for 26 years. Following his retirement, he was a salesman for Shea Motors and a driver for the Counseling Service in Addison County. He was a member of Salisbury Congregational Church; past president of the Middlebury Rotary Club; a life member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a long-time history buff, and was especially interested in old cars and the Civil War. He was a guide for the Shelburne Museum. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rhoda Benjamin of Middlebury; one daughter, Heidi Traeger of Sandown; two sons, Thomas Benjamin of Madison, N.J., and Curtis Benjamin of Middlebury; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Douglas Benjamin of Dover, Mass. Memorial services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Salisbury Congregational Church, Salisbury, Vt., with the Rev. Wayne Holsman officiating. Spring military burial will be in Prospect Cemetery, Vergennes. Memorial donations may be made to the Middlebury Volunteer Ambulance Association, P.O. Box 504, Middlebury, VT 05753 or to Salisbury Congregational Church, Salisbury, VT 05769. The Sanderson Funeral Service, Middlebury, is in charge of arrangements. Wilma C. Mack KINGSTON -- Wilma C. "Billie" (Krantz) Mack, 81, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, at Exeter Healthcare. She was born in Clinton, Mass., the daughter of Albert and Elsie (Keigher) Krantz. She lived most of her life in Clinton. She was a 1938 graduate of Clinton High School and wrote the class song. Mrs. Mack worked at Kirk Molding, Clinton, and at Meadowbrook Orchards in Sterling, Mass. She was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Clinton, and was an active member of the Sterling Historical Society. She is the widow of Orvo O. Mack, who died in 1976. She is survived by three sons, Peter Mack of Homestead, Fla., Jon Mack of Sterling and William Mack of Kingston; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Albert Krantz of Brainard, Minn., Robert Krantz of Bridgeport, Vt., and Ralph Krantz of Charlton, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews. Services were held Dec. 21 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Clinton. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton. Arrangements were by the James E. Watson Funeral Home, Clinton.
