Brown Jr. PLAISTOW -- Charles D. Brown Jr., 79, of 53 Pollard Road, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born in Haverhill, Mass., and had resided in Plaistow for 55 years. He attended Haverhill schools. Mr. Brown worked in several Haverhill wood heel shops and was a former Plaistow auxiliary police officer. He was a member of the First Baptist Curch of Plaistow; the 4 P.M.ers Ham Radio Club; a former member of the Plaistow Fish and Game Club and the Carriage Set Square Dance Club. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Beatrice (Collins) Brown; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Linda and John Daggett of Newton, Sharon Turcotte of Kingston, Wanda and Louis Leone of Sebastian, Fla., and Laurie and Roger Leeman of Danville; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Brown of Edgewater, Fla.; five sisters, Eileen Kershaw of Daytona, Fla., Grace Law of Deerfield, Bertha DeBlois of Ormond Beach, Fla., Merline Hickey of Haverhill and Patricia Garland of Northwood; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son, Charles D. Brown III, who died in 2000. Funeral services were held Wednesday in Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, Plaistow. Burial was in Plaistow Cemetery. Freda W. Cate RAYMOND -- Freda Wilma Cate, 94, of Old Manchester Road, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, in Exeter Hospital. She was born Sept. 24, 1907, in Hardwick, Vt., the daughter of the late Fred and Wilma (Hall) Goodridge. She was a lifelong resident of Raymond. Mrs. Cate was a clerk and seamstress at the Exeter Handkerchief Company, Exeter. She was a charter member of the Raymond Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Ray-Fre Senior Citizens Center, Raymond. The widow of Carl Cate Sr., she is survived by four sons, Carl Cate Jr. of Conroe, Tex., Myron Cate of Haysprings, Neb., John Cate of Raymond and Bob Thistle of Exeter; four daughters, Eileen Dalton of North Hampton, Sandra Courtemanche of Raymond, Jane Bassett of Stirling, Va., and Barbara Webster of California; 22 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one brother, Fred Goodridge of Needham Heights, Mass.; one sister, Grace Babineau of Concord; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son, Alvin Cate. Funeral services were held Monday in Raymond Baptist Church, Raymond, with the Rev. Michael Chouinard officiating. Page, 90, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, after a lengthy illness She was born July 22, 1911, in Haverhill, Mass., the daughter of the late John B. and Mabel (Barnes) Mason. She was a lifelong resident of Kingston. She was a graduate of Haverhill High School and Burdett in Boston. Mrs. Page owned and operated Kingston Agaway. She was a member of the First Congregational Church, Kingston; the Corinthian Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star; the Business and Professional Women's Club; the Mayflower Women; the Daughters of the American Revolution; the East Kingston Grange; the Rebekah Lodge; the Agway Committee; and was president of the New Hampshire Republican Women. She is survived by one daughter, Patience Berounsky of Portsmouth; one stepson and his wife, Donald A. and Norma Kemp of Kingston; one stepdaughter and her husband, Janet and Karl Corser of Lompoc, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her second husband, G. Austin Kemp; her third husband, Lewis Page; one sister, Dorcas Ryan; and two grandsons, John M. Berounsky and Charles O. Berounsky. Poulin, 82, of Griffin Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Manchester. He was born May 2, 1919, in Canada, the son of the late Arthur and Cordelia (Audet) Poulin. He had resided in Hampton Falls for many years before moving to Deerfield 21 years ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Poulin had owned and operated Poulin & Sons Gun Shop in Hampton Falls and was a long distance truck driver for Paul Arpin & Sons Movers. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans; the Richard A. Mitchell American Legion Post No. 51 of Epping; the Veterans of Foreign Wars; and the Ray-Fre Senior Citizens. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, June Poulin of Deerfield; three sons, Robert J. Poulin of Chico, Calif., Bill P. Poulin of Newmarket and Victor T. Poulin of Raymond; two daughters, Karen Dennis of Nottingham and Diane Whittaker of North Providence, R.I.; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Poulin of North Smithsfield, R.I.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Thursday in the Brewitt Funeral Home, Raymond. Spring burial will be in Old Center Cemetery, Deerfield. Arthur Proulx, 84, of Floral Avenue, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home, Brentwood. He was born June 8, 1917, in Brentwood, the son of the late Ephrem and Emma (Bouchard) Proulx. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. Mr. Proulx was employed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard from 1960 until 1978. He was previously a mechanic at Waterhouse Garage in Raymond. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church, Epping. He is survived by his wife, Emily (Rand) Proulx of Raymond; one son and his wife, Arthur and Robin Proulx of Nottingham; one granddaughter; two brothers, Charles Proulx of Raymond and Ernest Proulx of Chicago; and two sisters, Valida Callahan of Halifax, Mass., and Laura Chase of Raymond. Friends may call Friday from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, On the Common, Raymond. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Route 27, Epping. Spring burial will be in Village Cemetery, Fremont. Quinney, 81, of Portsmouth Avenue, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at SunBridge Rehabilitation Center after a period of failing health. She was born Sept. 15, 1920, in Boston, the daughter of the late Paul and Victoria (Gorski) Renaud. She had resided in many parts of the country and in Germany coming to Exeter in 1960 from Louisville, Ky. Mrs. Quinney and her late husband owned and operated Quinney's West End Drug Store in Exeter for 15 years. She was a communicant of St. Michael Church, Exeter. The widow of Austin F. Quinney, who died in 1989, she is survived by four sons, Edward P.M. Quinney of Wells, Maine, John "Jack" Quinney of Kingston, Joseph Quinney of Exeter and James Quinney of Golden, Colo.; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph Renaud of Wells and Alfred "Whitey" Renaud of Newark, Del.; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday in St. Michael Church. Burial was in Exeter Cemetery. Donations may be made in Mr. Austin Quinney's memory to the Knights of Columbus, 73 Winter St., Exeter, NH 03833 where he had served as grand master.
