Denton DANVILLE -- Patrick L. Denton, 21, of 12 Happy Hollow Road, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, in Exeter Hospital from injuries suffered in an automobile accident in Kingston. He was born Feb. 27, 1980, in Methuen, Mass., the son of Bruce D. Denton of Danville and the late Patricia (Cote) Denton, and lived in Danville all of his life. He attended Danville public schools and Timberlane Regional High School. Mr. Denton was a mechanic at Grand Rental Station, Plaistow, for several years. In addition to his father, he is survived by two brothers, Dean M. Denton of Barrington and Bruce D. Denton Jr. of Danville; two sisters, Selena Gillenwater of Tilton and Emmy-Jo Denton of Laconia; his paternal grandfather, Junior Perley Denton of Methuen; his maternal grandmother, Pasqualena (Voleno) Cote of Salem; his girlfriend, Nicole Musso of Danville; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Brookside Chapel and Funeral Home, Plaistow. Dodge Sr., 56, of Langford Road, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at his home after a sudden illness. He was born Oct. 30, 1945, in Portland, Maine, the son of Everett and Emily (Cambell) Dodge, and had resided in Raymond for 26 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Dodge was a self-employed cosmetologist for many years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and handyman and enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Carol (Richardson) Dodge of Raymond; two sons, Leonard E. Dodge Jr. of Lawrence, Mass., and Mark Dodge of Fort Benning, Ga.; one daughter, Carolynne Dodge of Raymond; three grandchildren; five sisters, Emily Yoder of Billerica, Mass., Ruth Longphee, Marjorie Gilbert and Beatrice Mastroangelo, all of Derry, and Deborah Grondin of Raymond; and one brother, George Dodge of Pelham. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, On the Common, Raymond. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Raymond Congregational Church, Church Street, Raymond. with the Rev. Neil Iverson officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Raymond. Goldsmith HAVERHILL, Mass. -- Everett W. Goldsmith, 70, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, in Merrimack Valley Hospital from heart complications. He was born in Beverly, Mass., and was educated in Somerville Schools. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving as a corporal with the military police in Berlin, Germany. Mr. Goldsmith was a field technician at Raytheon Corp. traveling throughout the world testing the performance of equipment at military missile sites, retiring in 1980 after 35 years of service. He was a member of All Saints Parish and of the former St. Rita's Parish; a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans; the American Legion Post No. 4; and the Coast Guard Auxiliary in Venice, Fla. He was a former member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and the Pentucket Club. He was an avid reader and sports fan and enjoyed traveling. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Angela (DiVincenzo) Goldsmith; one son, Dana Goldsmith of Raymond; one grandson; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one daughter, Sherry Goldsmith, who died in 1966, and one son, Brian Goldsmith, who died in 1974. A Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated Thursday in All Saints Church. Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Arrangements were by the Scatamacchia Funeral Home, Haverhill. Dorothy L. Meisel SALEM -- Dorothy L. (Townsend) Richardson Meisel, 75, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at her home. She was born in Lawrence, Mass., the daughter of Robert S. and Adelaide (Dalton) Townsend. She was educated in Lawrence, Haverhill and Methuen, Mass., schools. Mrs. Meisel was an electronic technician for Assurance Technology in Carlisle, Mass., and had also worked for Raytheon Corp. and Western Electric Co. She was a member of St. Joseph Church, Salem, where she was active with the Ladies Sodality. She made her Cursillo at St. Basil's Salvatorian Center in Methuen. She is survived by three daughters, Donna R. Britton of North Andover, Mass., Lori J. Santagati of Salem and Jamie K. Sturgess and her husband Ken of Hampstead; five sons, Bruce H. Richardson Jr. of Windham, David E. Richardson of Methuen, Scot M. Richardson of Salem, Mark E. Richardson and his wife Karen of Hampstead and Frank R.J. Meisel and his wife Sheryl of Salem; 20 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; two brothers, Donald Townsend of Zephyrhills, Fla., and James Townsend of Punta Gorda, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Dr. Bruce H. Richardson, who died in 1962; her second husband, Dr. Frank R. J. Meisel; and one brother, Robert J. Townsend. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Monday in St. Joseph Church, Salem. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen. Arrangements were by the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, Salem. Robin L. Merlino RAYMOND -- Robin L. Merlino, 48, of Power Street, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, in Elliot Hospital, Manchester, after a brief illness. She was born May 8, 1953, in Amityville, N.Y., the daughter of William E. Loderhose of Delaware and the late Claire (Fisher) Loderhose. She was raised in New York and had resided in Raymond since 1979. She was a 1971 graduate of Long Island Lutheran High School and a 1973 graduate of Concordia College. Mrs. Merlino was employed by Elliot Hospital in the central booking department and was a postal clerk in the Candia post office. She was a member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Manchester. She taught Sunday school and was formerly active in the elementary school system where she sometimes tutored. In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband of 23 years, Aldo Merlino of Raymond; one son, Evan J. Merlino of Raymond; and one daughter, Colleen A. Merlino of Raymond. Chapter, 27 Harvey Road, Bedford, NH 03110. Warren D. Sawyer Jr. NEWMARKET -- Warren D. "Junior" Sawyer, 66, of New Road, died February 14, 2002, in Exeter Hospital. He had recently had by-pass heart surgery. He was born July 11, 1935, in Exeter, the son of Warren D. Sr. and Ruth M. (Watson) Sawyer. He was the fifth generation to live at the Watson family homestead that overlooked the mouth of the Lamprey River and Great Bay. He was a 1953 graduate of Newmarket High School. Following his graduation Mr. Sawyer worked for H. Roby Jewell transporting livestock between farms throughout New England. He worked for the Newmarket Public Works Department for 20 years and as an equipment operator for Ernie Currier Construction, retiring in 1998. He loved working the land of his farm and the waters of the Bay. For more than 50 years he hayed fields, cut firewood, raised fruit, vegetables and livestock. He began raising sheep when he was 6 and still owned four ewes descended from his family's original stock. Mr. Sawyer enjoyed attending local county fairs, he especially loved to watch the oxen and horse pulling events. Well known for his "kitchen bait & tackle shop," he supplied local fishermen and bait shops as far north as Berlin. He assisted many smelt fishermen in getting their bobhouses to the channel of the Lamprey and got them off before the ice went out. He was the local almanac of the tides and smelt runs. He is survived by his companion, Brenda Stevens; and nine first cousins, John Sawyer of Davenport, Fla., Thomas Sawyer, Joan Curtis and Dorothy Jackson, all of San Antonio, Texas, Robert Sawyer of Trenton, N.J., Carolyn Staniec and Lena Thursby, both of Philadelphia, Emily Campbell of California and Joan. Funeral services were held Monday in the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home with the Rev. David Wuori officiating. Spring burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Newmarket. In celebration of his life, a fund has been established to benefit local youth farming, hunting and fishing programs and memorial donations may be made to the Warren D.
