Bybee DANVILLE -- Helen L. Bybee, 94, of Main Street, died Monday, April 15, 2002, at the Edgewood Centre, Portsmouth. She was born Aug. 11, 1907, in Danville, the daughter of the late Charles and Susie (Kimball) Johnson. She was a lifelong resident of Danville, residing in the house in which she was born. She was a graduate of Sanborn Seminary. Mrs. Bybee worked in shoe factories in Haverhill, Mass., and Raymond for many years. She is survived by one daughter and her husband, Maralyn and Herb Melkonian of Portsmouth, two grandsons; five great-grandchildren; and one niece and two nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Ashley B. McGrath, who died in 1940; her second husband, Max Bybee, who died in 1971; one grandson, Michael Melkonian, who died in 1996; and one sister, Lois Meaney, who died in 2001. Funeral services were held Thursday in the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter, with Pastor Jim Smith officiating. Burial was in Centre Cemetery, Danville. Betty L. Emmons KINGSTON -- Betty L. Emmons, 69, of 9 Coopers Grove Road, died Monday, April 15, 2002, in Exeter Hospital. She was born Dec. 2, 1932, in Swampscott, Mass., the daughter of the late Oscar and Vera (Lovering) Guimond. She had resided in Lynn, Mass., most of her life moving to Kingston in 1990. She attended Lynn English High School and was an avid bingo player. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Herbert W. Emmons; two sons, Kenneth W. Emmons and Mark W. Emmons, both of Kingston; one daughter, Gail A. McIsaac of Lynn; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Gerald Guimond of Nebraska; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her twin sister, Barbara Finnerty. Arrangements are by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton. Mabel K. Hanson HAMPTON -- Mabel K. Hanson, 86, of 22 Tuck Road, died Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at Seacoast Health Center. She was born Aug. 17, 1915, in Nova Scotia, Canada, and had resided in Winchester, Mass., for many years before moving to Kingston in 1978. She was educated in Nova Scotia schools. Mrs. Hanson was a homemaker and was a member of First Congregational Church of Kingston. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, P. Roland Hanson of Hampton; one son and his wife, Richard and Cheryl Hanson of Lincoln, Mass.; and two grandchildren. She was predeceased by one daughter, Joyce E. Hanson, who died in 1993. There are no calling hours. Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in First Congregational Church of Kingston, 8 Church St., Kingston. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Kingston. Runcie RAYMOND -- Tammy Marie (McCusker) Runcie, 40, died Thursday, April 11, 2002, in her home after a lengthy illness. She was born Oct. 4, 1961, in Haverhill, Mass., the daughter of Edward and Dorothy (Britton) McCusker of Epping. She was a graduate of Epping High School. Mrs. Runcie was employed by Lucent Technologies in North Andover, Mass., for 16 years. She enjoyed snowmobiling, gardening and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of 20 years, Edward J. Runcie Jr. of Raymond; two sons, Edward J. Runcie III and Bryan Runcie, both of Raymond; one sister, Kelly Smith of Epping; one brother, Edward McCusker Jr. of Epping; her paternal grandmother, Clara McCusker of Hampton; her maternal grandparents, Alfred and Olive Britton of Haverhill; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Memorial services were held Monday in St. Joseph Church, Epping. Charles F. Vetter Sr. NORTH HAMPTON -- Charles F. Vetter Sr., 84, of 11 Woodknoll Drive, died Saturday, April 13, 2002, in Portsmouth Regional Hospital. He was born June 10, 1917, in Portsmouth the son of the late Charles V. and Beatrice (Gardner) Vetter II. He served with the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve as a seaman first class in 1942-1943. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving as a staff sergeant with the 32nd Division, 128th Infantry. Mr. Vetter began his career in law enforcement in 1943 when he was hired by the Portsmouth Police Department. Following the war he returned to the department and was promoted to sergeant inspector in 1955 and to lieutenant inspector in 1960. He retired in 1968 after 25 years of service. He served as deputy conservation officer from 1962 until 1977. He began as a deputy sheriff with the Rockingham County Sheriff's Department in 1968 and was promoted to chief deputy sheriff in 1973. He was elected as high sheriff in 1980 and retired in 1986 after 18 1/2 years, totaling 43 1/2 years in law enforcement. He was a member of St. John's Lodge, No. 1, F&AM of Portsmouth; Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Portsmouth and Dover; N.H. Consistory 32nd degree of Nashua; and Bektash Shrine of Concord. He was a life member of Rockingham County Law Enforcement Association and a member of the Frank E. Booma Post No. 6, American Legion in Portsmouth. The widower of Ruth (Hargreaves) Vetter, who died in 1981, he is survived by one daughter and her husband, Sylvia and Bob Lincoln of Eliot, Maine; two sons and their wives, Charles F. and Jean Vetter Jr. of Stratham and Wayne E. and Joan Vetter of Newmarket; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Edward H. Vetter Sr. of Eliot; and one sister, Lora Hersey Lester of Portsmouth. He was predeceased by one granddaughter, Patricia, who died in 1998. Funeral services were held Tuesday in the J.
