Huggins EAST HAMPSTEAD -- William E. Huggins, 74, of East Hampstead, died Sunday, May 5, 2002 at his home. Born and raised in Lynn, Mass., he had been a resident of East Hampstead for the past 40 years. A Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Huggins worked as a sheet metal worker in the aircraft division for General Electric Co. at both the Lynn and Everett plants. He was a longtime member of V.F.W. Post 6 of Lynn, Mass. Mr. Huggins is survived by his wife, Margaret (Curtin) Huggins; a stepson, William M. Dion and his wife Dolores of Saugus, Mass.; a daughter, Jane LeDuc of Derry; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service was held Wednesday at Lakeview Cemetery, Hampstead. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements were by the Brookside Chapel and Funeral Home, Plaistow. Herbert L. Ottes PLAISTOW -- Herbert L. Ottes, 76, of Plaistow and formerly of Methuen and Andover, Mass., died Sunday, May 5, 2002 at SunBridge of Exeter. He was born in New York City, attended schools there and graduated Pace University in 1954 with a degree in business administration. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Ottes retired from Belle Steel in Boston where he worked as an accountant and previously was employed at Transitron of Wakefield, Mass. Mr. Ottes resided in Andover and Methuen before moving to Plaistow in 1991. He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church of Andover and the V.F.W. of Hampstead. He volunteered in the business offices at Lawrence General Hospital and also taught English as a second language to local immigrants. Mr. Ottes is survived by his wife, Marion (Roberg) Ottes; a son, Peter L. Ottes and his wife Donna Childs of Salisbury, Mass.; two daughters, Elizabeth A. Donath of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Barbara E. Quintana and her husband Ron of Soulsbyville, Calif.; two sisters, Flora O'Rourke of New York City and Doris Moriarty of New Milford, N.J.; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday at noon at the Brookside Chapel and Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow. Burial will follow in the State Veteran's Cemetery in Boscawen. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. Stephen Charles Watson MANCHESTER -- Stephen Charles Watson, 46, of 771 Harvard St., died Saturday, May 4, 2002, at Exeter Hospital. He was born Sept. 28, 1955 in Cambridge, Mass, the son of Ralph and June (Dugan) Watson Sr., of Largo, Fla. A longtime resident of Melrose, Mass., he graduated from Melrose High School in 1973 and had resided in Manchester for the last 10 years. Mr. Watson served in the U.S. National Guard for six years and had been employed for the last several years at Severance Trucking. He was an avid fisherman. Mr. Watson is survived by his parents; two brothers, Paul Watson of Wakefield, Mass., and Ralph Watson Jr. of Stoneham, Mass.; three sisters, Janet Riordan of Quincy, Mass., Diane Roth of Port Charlotte, Fla., formerly of Raymond, and Donna Ridley of Clearwater, Fla., six nieces and nephews, and one great-niece. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 11 at 9 a.m. at First Baptist Church, located at the corner of Main and Upham streets in Melrose, Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association, New England Affiliate Central Processing Center, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701-4688. Arrangements are by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Raymond. Mark Joseph DeRoche RAYMOND -- Mark Joseph DeRoche, 89, of 73 Main St., died Monday, May 6, 2002, at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born April 24, 1913, in Prince Edward Island, Canada. He was a longtime resident of Raymond and formerly of Haverhill, Mass., where he attended school. Mr. DeRoche had been employed for many years in area shoe shops and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed both hunting and fishing. He is survived by one son, Steven M. DeRoche of Raymond; three daughters, Betty A. Routt of Fairbourne, Ohio, Priscilla M. Harvey of Nashua, and Judith L. Thornton of North Conway; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Raymond. Joseph D. Gibbs EAST KINGSTON -- Joseph D. Gibbs, 70, of East Kingston died Sunday, May 5, 2002 at the Merrimack Valley Hospital in Haverhill, Mass. He was born in Cambridge, Mass., and raised in the Brighton section of Boston where he attended local schools. A Navy veteran of the Korean War, he lived in Winthrop, Mass., for 28 years before moving to East Kingston eight years ago. Mr. Gibbs retired from Massachusetts Institute of Technology as the supervisor of the physical plant in 1990 after 25 years of service. He was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church Parish of Newton, the M.I.T. Quarter Century Club, and the AmVets Post of Winthrop. He was also a member and past commander of the V.F.W. of Beachmont. Mr. Gibbs is survived by his wife, Helen E. (Butler) Gibbs; three sons, Joseph D. Gibbs and his wife Robyn of Santa Rosa, Calif., William R. Gibbs and his wife Christine of Merrimack, and John L. Gibbs and his wife Patricia of Wilmington, Mass.; a daughter, Helen Ann Gusler and her husband Bruce of Plaistow; a brother, Edward Gibbs of Randolph, Mass.; two sisters, Margaret Robertson of Rye and Jane Vatalaro of Wareham, Mass.; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 10 at 9:30 a.m. at the Brookside Chapel and Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Mary, Mother of the Church, Newton. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, East Kingston. Timothy F. Murphy EXETER -- Timothy F. Murphy, 54, of 2 Thelma Drive, died Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at his home. He was born Aug. 21, 1947, in Berlin, the son of the late Edward J. and Roseann (Lavertue) Murphy. Mr. Murphy was raised in Berlin and was a graduate of Berlin High School and the New Hampshire Vocational Technical College in Berlin. He also attended Tri County Technical College in Seneca, S.C. He moved to Exeter in 1979. He worked for Seabrook Station in the engineering department for 23 years. Mr. Murphy is survived by his wife of 34 years, Mary Ellen Murphy of Exeter; two daughters, Rosemary E. Bergeron and her husband Christopher of Litchfield and Patricia R. Murphy of San Diego; one brother, James E. Murphy of Hebron, Conn.; two sisters, Sally M. Tourangeau of Berlin and Kathleen M. Murphy of Venice, Fla.; a son-in-law, Derek Moreau of Raymond; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Shannon K. Moreau. Calling hours will be held Friday, May 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter. Eggleston, 69, of 4 Ledgewood Lane, died Monday, April 29, 2002 at Exeter Hospital. She was born Sept. 10, 1932 in Seabrook, the daughter of the late Carlton and Barbara (Eaton) Littlefield. She was raised in Seabrook and attended local schools. Mrs. Eggleston worked as an assembler for Henchels of Newburyport, a manufacturer of circuit boards, for 15 years, retiring in 1994. After her retirement she made her home in Raymond, moving there from Salisbury, Mass. She is survived by two sons, Brian Eggleston and Gregory Eggleston, both of Salisbury, Mass.; one daughter, Debra Eggleston of South Berwick, Maine; one brother, Bruce Littlefield, of Salisbury; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton. Patricia A. Dudley HAMPTON -- Patricia A. Dudley, 64, of Taylor River Estates, died Thursday, May 2, 2002, in Exeter Hospital after a brief illness. She was born Feb. 21, 1938, in Amesbury, Mass., the daughter of the late James and Rose (Provencher) Manning. She attended St. Joseph Grammar School and was a 1955 graduate of Amesbury High School. Mrs. Dudley was employed in various positions in area banks and had previously worked in the office at the former Brochu's Market. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed crafts. The widow of Ralph Dudley, who died in 1999, she is survived by five daughters and three sons-in-law, Barbara and Al Stuart and Cathy and Kenny Vichell, all of Amesbury, Laurie and Arthur Hawkes of Fremont, Cheryl McCarthy of Kensington, and Michelle Freel of Scituate, Mass.; one son and his wife, Michael and Robin Dudley of Barnstead; 16 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Dion of Amesbury; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Saturday in St. Joseph Church, Amesbury. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery.
