Jayne Clark Hall HAMPSTEAD -- Jayne (Eastman) Clark Hall, 83, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, at Parkland Medical Center. Born in Haverhill, Mass., she had been a resident of Hampstead most of her life. She graduated from Haverhill High School in 1937 and attended the Lee Institute and received a Loving Cup for the highest marks in the Institute. Mrs. Hall worked in the Hampstead Telephone office and was the Hampstead librarian from 1946 to 1949. She was Hampstead Town Clerk from 1971 to 1975. As a longtime resident of Hampstead, she taught sixth grade at the Hampstead Congregational Church and also served as church clerk during that time. She was president of the Church Guild. She was also a member of the Hampstead Historical Society. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Haverhill, and served on the Rainbow Board. Mrs. Hall is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Gail J. and Stanley Lapham of East Hampstead; her son and daughter-in-law, Richard A. and Brenda Clark of Hampstead; a sister, Ruth Benoit of Haverhill; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husbands, Russell J. Hall and Walter F. Clark Jr. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. Alexandra Diane Hawkins HAMPTON -- Alexandra Diane Hawkins, 55, of 33 Norton Road died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, at her home. She was born Aug. 19, 1947 in Brattleboro, Vt., the daughter of Dr. Alexander and Lucille (Howard) Ostroff. A resident of Hampton since 1977, she had previously resided in Portsmouth and in Wellesley, Mass. She received her bachelor's degree in psychology from Barrington College in Rhode Island and her masters in education from Framingham State College in Massachusetts. She spent a few years as an elementary school teacher. She was active in the Christian Life Church in Eliot, Maine, and the New Life Assembly of God in Raymond. Mrs. Hawkins raised her family in a community she loved being a part of. As a prominent real estate broker for ERA Masiello, she shared her love of the area by assisting many people in search of that perfect home. She is survived by her parents; her son, Matt Hawkins of Hampton; two daughters, Tania Hawkins of Hampton and Melanie Hill of St. Louis, Mo.; a brother, Donald Ostroff of Dallas, Texas; one grandson; and four nieces. Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Maranatha Assembly of God, 150 High St., Hampton. Burial will be in the High Street Cemetery, Hampton. Baker EAST KINGSTON -- Phyllis Louise Baker, 79, of East Kingston, died Oct. 21, 2002, at the Rockingham County Home, Brentwood. She was born Dec. 31, 1922, in Newburyport, Mass., the daughter of the late Harold and Elizabeth (Sweet) Bowley. She was raised in Amesbury, Mass., and graduated from Amesbury High School and the Fazio School of Cosmetology in Lawrence, Mass. She owned and operated Phyllis' Beauty Shop on Haverhill Road in East Kingston for more than 25 years. Mrs. Baker was choir director for the East Kingston Community United Methodist Church for more than 40 years. She was Past Master of the East Kingston Wingold Grange 308, Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star Corinthian Chapter #23 of Kingston, and past Mother Advisor for the Order of Rainbow for Girls Exeter Assembly No. 20. She also served on the East Kingston Historical Committee. Upon her retirement she spent her winters in Fort Pierce, Fla., where she was actively involved with the Golden Ponds Show Committee. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, George F. Baker of East Kingston; two daughters, Judy Hunter and her husband Ed of East Kingston, and Linda MacLaren and her husband Gil of Ridgefield, Conn.; two sisters, Margaret Gonthier of Hopkinton, Mass. and Norma Kirby of Fort Pierce, Fla.; three granddaughters; five great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. at the East Kingston Community United Methodist Church, Depot Road, East Kingston. Arrangements are by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter. Carol Ann Cross RAYMOND -- Carol Ann Cross, 58, of Merrick Road, died Oct. 21, 2002, at her home after a lengthy illness. She was born July 9, 1944 in Haverhill, Mass., the daughter of Helen M. (Stathis) Foucault and the late Henry N. Foucault. Mrs. Cross had been a longtime resident of Raymond, coming from Haverhill, where she grew up and graduated from Haverhill High School. She worked for the past five years at the Members First Credit Union in Manchester as their human resources assistant. Previously, she worked at the First Savings & Loan in Exeter for ten years. She served as treasurer of the Seacoast B.P.W. Mrs. Cross is survived by her husband of 33 years, Warren Cross of Raymond; her mother, Helen Foucault of Haverhill; two daughters, Karen Cross of Raymond and Kathleen Cross of Manchester; one brother, James Foucault of Atkinson; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Thursday, and burial followed in the New Pine Grove Cemetery in Raymond. Arrangements are by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Raymond. Edward R. Oxner DANVILLE -- Edward R. Oxner, 57, of 10 Tartan Court, died suddenly Oct. 21, 2002, at the Exeter Hospital. He was born in Boston and raised in the Allston and Brighton neighborhoods of Boston. He graduated from Brighton High School with the Class of 1963. He also attended Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill, Mass. He moved to Plaistow as a young man and lived there for many years before moving to Danville four years ago. Mr. Oxner was self-employed as a roofer for 30 years and had also worked for several local roofing contractors. Most recently, he was the owner and operator of Eddie's Kitchen in Methuen, Mass. He was a member of the Lawrence Lodge of Elks and the National Rifle Association. Mr. Oxner is survived by his wife Paula (Janiak) Oxner; a son, Mark E. Oxner of Ipswich, Mass; two daughters, Michelle Oxner of Salem, and Kendra M. Damphousse and her husband, David, of Barrington; two brothers, Arthur Oxner of Durham and Richard Oxner of Exeter; four sisters, Beverly Shea of Plymouth, Mass., Debbie Rose of Sandown, Joanne Oxner of Stoneham, Mass., and Patricia Kliska of Plaistow; one aunt; one uncle; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services were held Thursday, and burial followed in Holy Angels Cemetery, Plaistow. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, N.H.
