Corliss Sr. KINGSTON -- Lawrence Merrill Corliss Sr., 65, of Page Road, died Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, in Concord Hospital, Concord. He was born in Winchester, Mass., the son of Christina (Neal) Wood of Seabrook and the late Ferdinand Corliss. He had resided in Kingston for 39 years and wintered in Ruskin, Fla. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Mr. Corliss was an electronics technician for Raytheon in Andover, Mass., for 36 years, working on the Hawk Missile Program. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 505 of Kensington; the Kingston Masonic Lodge; and was co-founder of the Flying Iron Horseshoe League of Kingston. He was an avid outdoorsman and camping enthusiast and enjoyed golf and woodworking. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 43 years, Teresa H. (Walton) Corliss of Kingston; two daughters, Marcia E. Kelly of Dunbarton and Denise N. Taylor of Plaistow; two sons, Lawrence M. Corliss Jr. of Exeter and John F. Corliss of Hillsborough; five grandchildren; five sisters, Winnifred Jacques of Rye, Patricia Corliss of Rochester, Vivian Marland of Seabrook, Carolyn Yoder of LaPorte, Ind., and Margorie Knowles of Elkhart, Ind.; one stepsister, Audrey Eaton of Seabrook; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Wednesday in the Waters Funeral Home, Concord. Burial was in the N.H. Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen. William J. Hill EVERETT, Mass. -- William J. Hill, 41, of 3 Silvestri Circle, died Oct. 27, 2002, in Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. He is survived by one son, William J. Hill Jr. of Danville; his father, Robert Hill of New Bedford, Mass.; his mother, Toby Mosca of Derry; three sisters, Stacey Melanson and Cheryl Meuse, both of Derry, and Colene Faia of Sandown; one brother, Robert Hill Jr. of New Bedford; and four nephews. Funeral services were held Nov. 4 in the Hart-Wallace Funeral Home, Lawrence, Mass. Burial was in Forest Hills Cemetery, Derry. Arthur R. LaMontagne HAMPTON BEACH -- Arthur R. LaMontagne, 77, of 15 P St., died Monday, Nov. 4, 2002, in Exeter Hospital. He was born Jan. 5, 1925, in Pembroke, the son of Hector V. "Vic" and Alzema (Thibedeau) LaMontagne. He had resided at Hampton Beach since the mid-1940s and wintered in Kissimmee, Fla., for 15 years. He attended Manchester Central High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. LaMontagne built the Blue Jay Motel at Hampton Beach in 1950, which he operated with his wife for 34 years before passing the business on to their daughter. He served as a call fireman for the Hampton Beach Fire Department for 25 years. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church and a charter member of the Holy Name Society. He was a 35-year member of the Portsmouth Country Club; a 57-year member of the Hampton American Legion Post No. 35; a charter member of the World War II National Memorial Foundation; and a 14-year member of the Kissimmee Lodge of Elks. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Diana D. (Gagne) LaMontagne of Hampton Beach; three sons, Arthur F. "Skip" LaMontagne of Exeter, Eric A. LaMontagne of Raymond and Michael J. LaMontagne of Berwick, Maine; one daughter, Mary LaMontagne of Hampton Beach; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Col. Edward J. LaMontagne of Manchester; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one grandson, Christian E. LaMontagne, one brother and two sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, 289 Lafayette Road, Hampton. LeBel, 88, of 50 Mansion Drive, died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002, at the Seaview Retreat, Rowley. She was born Oct. 11, 1914, in Chelmsford, Mass., the daughter of the late George and Delphine (Eno) Morse and had been a resident of Rowley for three years, previously living in Sandown for 26 years. She was a graduate of Lynn English High School, Lynn, Mass., and attended the Plus School of Business in Lynn and Boston. Mrs. LeBel was employed by Cooper Laboratories in Lynn for five years, retiring in 1975. She had previously taught IBM at the Plus School of Business in Lynn and Boston and had been a cutter at the Dori Shoe Co. in Lynn for more than 20 years. She was past president of the Sixty Plus Club, Sandown; a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program; and the Vic Geary Senior Center in Plaistow. The widow of Alphonse LeBel, who died in 1984, she is survived by one niece, Grace D. Gray of Amesbury, Mass.; a grandniece; three stepchildren, Sandra Levesque of Salem, Mass., and Florida, Nancy McClure of Danvers, Mass., and Barry Weldon of Ipswich, Mass.; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. McCusker, 87, of Cote Circle, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002, at Seacoast Health Center, Hampton, after a period of failing health. She was born Dec. 20, 1914, in Malden, Mass., the daughter of the late Gifford T. and Mary (O'Brien) Melanson. She had resided Epping and Plaistow before moving to Raymond in 1977. Mrs. McCusker was a machine operator with Western Electric and AT&T in No. Andover, Mass., and had previously worked many years at Arkelian Shoe Co. in Haverhill, Mass. She enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, quilting and dancing. The widow of Thomas L. McCusker Sr., she is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Susan and Raymond Duquette of Hampstead, Patricia and Daniel McKay of Fremont, and Margaret Cotter of Sharon; five sons and their wives, Thomas and Carol McCusker of Bristol, Edward and Dorothy McCusker of Epping, Leo and Dorothy McCusker of Raymond, James and Joanne McCusker of Bristol, and Patrick and Angela McCusker of Newton; 30 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mae Black of Braintree, Mass., and Florence McCusker of Kingston; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one daughter, Mary Call. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Route 27, Epping. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Epping. (Thayer) Nason, 55, of Exeter Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home, Brentwood, after a lengthy illness. She was born May 29, 1947, in Chelmsford, Mass., the daughter of the late Howard A. and Bertha (Gauthier) Thayer. She was raised in Goffstown and had resided in Manchester before moving to Hampton Falls 26 years ago. She was a graduate of Goffstown High School and was a 1969 graduate of Merrimack College with a bachelor's degree in chemistry. Mrs. Nason was the administrative assistant for Dr. Dibble's Medical Practice in Kingston for eight years. She served on the Hampton Falls School Board and the Winnacunnet School Board. She was an avid tennis player and was a former member of the Great Bay Tennis Club. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Paul A. Nason of Hampton Falls; three sons and their wives, Stephen and Elizabeth Nason of North Berwick, Peter and Lori Nason of Exeter and Philip and Sridevi Nason of Hampton Falls; one granddaughter; one brother, Earl Thayer of Weare; and several nieces and nephews. A time of remembrance will be held Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Michael Church, Front Street, Exeter. Patrick J. Swete FREMONT -- Patrick J. Swete, 74, died Oct. 29, 2002, in Exeter Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born Nov. 24, 1932, in Syracuse, N.Y., the son of Joseph and Mary (Padden) Swete, and had resided in Fremont for many years. Mr. Swete was a retired master sergeant with the N.H. Air National Guard retiring in 1986 after 38 years of service. The widower of Doris "Ma" Swete, who died Sept. 27, he is survived by three daughters, Pamela J. Swete of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Carol M. Swete of Concord and Diana Kasiaras of New Boston; two grandchildren; one brother, James Swete of San Antonio, Texas; one sister, Jeanne MacBain of Syracuse; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday in St. Lawrence Church, Goffstown. Burial was in the N.H. State Veterans Cemetery Boscawen. Memorial donations may be made to the American Legion.
