Anderson, 91, of Stockholm, Maine, beloved husband of Margaret (Johnson) Anderson, died on June 23, 2003 at a Caribou hospital after a brief illness. He was born on September 7, 1911 at New Sweden, the son of Carlton and Christina (Swenson) Anderson. A Stockholm resident for most of his life, he began his career in agriculture, farming potatoes. Later he became a full-time dairy farmer, selling milk and milk products to local dairies. Active in community affairs, he was a Stockholm town selectman for several terms and also served as first selectman. for the town. He was elected to the Stockholm School Board and was a charter member of the Stockholm Historical Society, serving as its chairperson for three years. He was also a member of the Jemtland Cemetery Association and the Northern Maine regional planning and development committee. In the agricultural community Mr. Anderson was a member and later the chairman of the Central Aroostook soil and water conservation board for more than 16 years. He was also active with the Aroostook R C & D, the state board of conservation and the Maine Potato Growers. Harold was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Stockholm, where he served for many years on the board of trustees. He is survived by his wife of 59 years of Stockholm; a son, Ben Anderson and his wife Janice, of Lexington Park, Md.; a daughter, Linda McCormack and her husband, John of South Portland; seven grandchildren and five grandchildren; five sisters, Hazel Brunelle of Worcester, Mass., Bernice Hedman of Titusville, Fla., Inez McNabb of Sorrento, Fla., Sylvia Nyland of Connecticut and Florida and Evelyn Clisham of Hampden, Maine; two brothers, Mallet "Andy" Anderson of Pittsburg and Perley Anderson of Zephyrhills, Fla., his best friend, Frederick Anderson; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Winferd Anderson and Kenneth Anderson, and by a sister, Signe Olivenbaum. Funeral services were held on Thursday at the Chapel of the Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home in Caribou, with the Rev. John Walsh officiating. He was interred at the West Jemtland Cemetery in New Sweden. Fearon, 72, of Lyndon, Vt., died on Tuesday evening, June 24, 2003 at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury. He was born on July 12, 1930 in Canaan, the son of the late Perley and Miriam (Edwards) Fearon. He was graduated from Springfield College in Springfield, Mass., Class of 1952. He retired from Barberton Parks and Recreation Department in Barberton, Ohio, in 1996 and moved back to Vermont. He was a member of the Lyndonville United Methodist Church. He is survived by is wife, Mary (Blodgett) Fearon of Lyndonville, to whom he was married on September 18, 1954; two sons, Mark Fearon and wife Kirsten Fleischmann of Milbrae, Calif. and Dean Fearon of Lyndon; two grandchildren; a sister, Janice Jackson and husband Carroll of Colebrook; a half-brother, Joel Fearon and wife Ruth of Vergennes; his stepmother, Josephine Fearon of Canaan; a stepsister, Juana Leah Schoff of Canaan; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service was held on Friday, June 27 at the School House Covered Bridge on the South Wheelock Road, with the Rev. Barbara Dwyer officiating. (Issue of July 2, 2003) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RUTH MARTIN Mrs. Ruth Lillian (Amero) Martin, 78, of West Stewartstown and formerly of Clarks-ville, died on Sunday, June 29, 2003 at the Coös County Nursing Hospital. Mrs. Martin was born on June 15, 1925 in Salem, Mass., the daughter of the late George and Winnifred (Illsey) Amero. Mrs. Martin was an excellent homemaker. She was a servant of the Lord in various churches by cooking, cleaning, typing letters and performing other church-related duties. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Martin is survived by her loving husband, William J. Martin Jr. of Clarksville; five children, William Martin III and his wife Pat of West Stewartstown, Frances Martin of Bristol, Lillian Emerson and husband Ray of Franklin, David Martin of Lakeport and Philip Martin of Bristol; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Martin is preceded in death by a brother, Frank Perry, and two sisters, Jean Schwarzenburg and Marjorie Perry. Calling hours were held on Tuesday, July 1, and will be held on Thursday, July 3 from 9-11 a.m. at the Jenkins Funeral Home in Colebrook, with a funeral to follow on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Community Baptist Church in Colebrook. Interment services will be conducted at the Young Cemetery in Clarksville, with the Reverend Bill Martin officiating. (Issue of July 2, 2003) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BETTY YOUNG Mrs. Betty Jane (Ellison) Young, 83, of West Stewartstown and formerly of San Diego, Calif., died on Sunday, June 29, 2003 at the Coös County Nursing Hospital. Mrs. Young was born on June 4, 1920 in Hartford, Conn., the daughter of the late Joseph F. and Jennie (Johannsen) Ellison. She was a homemaker and active member of the First Presbyterian Church in San Diego for 45 years. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed making hats. She also enjoyed traveling with her late husband, visiting numerous countries all over the world. Mrs. Young is survived by her son, David Young, of Fairbanks, Alaska; her sister and brother-in-law, Sally and Fred Foss of Columbia; four nieces, Carolyn Foss-Monson of Columbia, Betsy Foss of Rochester, N.Y., Eleanor Taliferro of Virginia and Lois Taliferro of Virginia; a nephew, Gary Foss of Columbia; and a cousin, George Anderson of Pawtucket, R.I. Mrs. Young is preceded in death by her loving husband, Wesley Charles Young, in 1991. There will be no calling hours. Private family services will be held at a later date.
