SIMONE FONTAINE Simone M. Fontaine, 92, of Stewartstown, died on Tuesday, August 5, 2003 at the Coös County Nursing Hospital in West Stewartstown. She was born on July 1, 1911 in Three Rivers, Quebec, the daughter of Maxime and Vita-line (Trembley) Grenier. Mrs. Fontaine attended school in Canada. She moved to the United States in 1935 and travelled to Massachusetts, where she worked for many years in clothing manufacturing. She was married to the late Emile Fontaine on August 2, 1957. She and her husband retired and moved to West Stewartstown in 1985. Mrs. Fontaine is survived by five sisters, Yvette Ricard of West Stewartstown, Pauline Grenier of Shawigane, Quebec, Janine Grenier, Francis Grenier and Pierette Aubrey, all of Three Rivers; two brothers, Lucien Grenier and Henri Grenier, both of Three Rivers; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband, Emile Fontaine, predeceased her in 1995. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Annette and Margerite, and a brother, Roger. Calling hours were held on Thursday, August 7 at the Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday at St. Brendan's Church in Colebrook, with the Reverend Albert Bellefeuille officiating. Burial followed at St. Brendanıs Cemetery in Colebrook. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FRED GIELAR Fred S. Gielar, 77, of Newmarket, died early on August 5, 2003 at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook after a brief illness. Born on July 29, 1926 in Newmarket, he was the son of John A. and Mary A. (Polchl-opek) Gielar. He lived most of his life in Newmarket and had also lived in Concord and Hopkinton. During World War II he served in the Army. He was a 19-year member of the Robert G. Durgin American Legion Post #67 in Newmarket. Fred worked for Public Service Company of New Hampshire for many years. He started as a welder and worked his way up to supervisor. He retired in 1986 and moved to Pittsburg to enjoy the outdoors. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and his hunting dogs, and was a life endowment member of the National Rifle Association. Fred also enjoyed playing golf. The family includes his daughter, Nancy Eaton and her husband David of Madbury; his son John T. Gielar of Troy, N.H.; five grandchildren and a niece. There were no calling hours. Family and friends attended a Funeral Prayer Service on Friday afternoon, followed by an American Legion Service at the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home in Newmarket. Burial followed at Calvary Cemetery in Newmarket. Morehouse, 50, of Milford and formerly of Stratford, died on Monday morning, August 11, 2003 in Manchester, after a short illness with cancer. Mr. Morehouse was born on November 16, 1952 in Meriden, Conn., the son of Larry and Rachel (Grant) Morehouse. He enjoyed hunting, carpentry work, wrestling, and spending time with his grandchildren. He often remarked how he looked forward to sharing his grandchildren's first fishing experience. Mr. Morehouse is survived by his children, Hank Morehouse of Virginia Beach, Va., Leon Morehouse of Milford, Carey Shaw of Milford, and Rachel Morehouse of Virginia Beach, Va.; his parents, Larry and Rachel Morehouse, of Stratford; his brothers, Tim Morehouse of Amherst, Neal Morehouse of Stratford and Wayne Morehouse of Rutherfordton, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his son, Bit Morehouse, and his brother, Brandon Morehouse, both in 1982. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be conducted on Thursday, August 14 at 2 p.m. in the Colebrook Village Cemetery. Pastor Larry Clough will officiate. Webster, 83, of Port Leyden, N.Y., died on August 4, 2003 at Lewis County General Hospital in Lowville, where he had been a patient since July 15. Born in the town of Lyonsdale on January 3, 1920, he was the son of William G. and Florence Olin Webster. Bill grew up on the family farm on the East Road in Port Leyden, and was graduated from Port Leyden High School in 1938. On April 19, 1947 he was married to Evelyn Kessler at the Congregational Church in Port Leyden by the Rev. Raymond Muthard. Bill and Evelyn lived in New Hampshire for 38 years and he was employed at International Paper Co. in North Stratford until retiring in 1985. He was an Army Veteran of World World II serving from 1942-45, and was discharged as a sergeant. Bill was a member of the Port Leyden Senior Citizens and the Historical Club. He enjoyed playing the guitar and harmonica, and singing. Bill also enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and hunting. In 1995 the Websters moved back to Port Leyden to their present home. The family includes his wife, Evelyn; a daughter, Sandra Sexton, of Stinson Lake, N.H.; and a sister, Laura Mekelson, of Port Leyden. He was predeceased by three brothers, Alvin, George and Floyd Webster; and three sisters, Josephine Rudmin, Susie Gillette and Ethel Richardson. Funeral services were held on Friday, August 8 at the Mills Funeral Home in Boonville, with Rev. Guy Rocker, Pastor of the New Covenant Church of Port Leyden officiating.
