ALFRED GOULD Alfred B. Gould died on August 31, 2003. He was born on January 3, 1924. Services were held on September 5 in Oak Harbor, Wash. He is survived by sisters Jean Chase of Concord, Ruth Cole of North Carver, Mass., and June Fluery of Stratford; brothers Arthur Gould of Colebrook, Dale Gould of Snohomish, Wash., Robert Gould of Manchester, and Fred Jennings of Goffstown; three children, Lisa Green of Oklahoma, Bruce Gould of Ferndale, Wash., and Kathy Gould of Oak Harbor, Wash.; and three grandchildren. He is preceded in death by brothers Sherman, Keith and Holman Gould, and his grandson, Nathan Gould. He served in the Army as a paratrooper; he later joined the Navy and retired after serving 20 years. Alfred then went to work for the forest service, then on to Whidbey Island Naval Air Stationıs fire department for 32 years. He leaves behind very dear friends Sylvia Strolla, Sharon Gould, Donna Thomason and Jim Robtoy. He will be greatly missed. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ETHEL GOULD Mrs. Ethel J. (Eastman) Gould, 86, of Colebrook, died on Tuesday morning, September 23, 2003 at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook. Mrs. Gould was born on Dec-ember 25, 1916 in Colebrook, the daughter of the late Perley and Eldora (Hammond) Eastman. She and her late husband, Leonard Gould Sr., owned a dairy farm for many years in the Colebrook area. After selling the farm, she was employed at Tillotson Rubber Company for a number of years and then worked for the Trinity United Methodist Church Thrift Shop in Colebrook. She loved her flowers, both inside and outside her home. She was also a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the Mohawk Grange. Mrs. Gould is survived by her son, Leonard "Sonny" Gould of Mulberry, Fla.; five grandchildren; a brother, Justin Eastman; a son-in-law, Robert Crawford of Colebrook; fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Mrs. Gould was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Gould Sr., in 1995 and her daughter, Alice Crawford, in 2001. Calling hours were held on Friday evening, September 26 at the Jenkins Funeral Home. A funeral service was conducted on Saturday afternoon at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Colebrook, with Pastor Priscilla Hull officiating. An interment service followed at the Colebrook Village Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in Mrs. Gould's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, New Hampshire Division, 360 State Route 101, Unit 8, Bedford, NH 03110-5032. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KAREN FYSH Karen Ann (Tisdale) Fysh, 49, of Groveton, died at Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster on September 27, 2003. She was born in Lancaster on September 14, 1954 to Delford and Rita (Foss) Tisdale. She has been a resident of Groveton all her life. Karen was employed by Gamm Sewing until it closed. She was also employed as a CNA. She was a graduate of Groveton High School. Mrs. Fysh is survived by her husband, Eugene "Gene" Fysh, of Groveton. She is also survived by two sons, Marc W. Fysh of Colebrook and Jeffrey A. Fysh of Groveton; her father, Delford Tisdale, of Groveton; a brother, Cecil F. Tisdale, of Groveton; a sister, Bonnie Gilchrist, of Lewiston, Maine; and five grandchildren. She was predeceased by her mother, in 1990, and a brother, William Tisdale. Visitation was at the Main-Armstrong Funeral Home in Groveton on Monday. Services were held at the funeral home on Tuesday morning with the Rev. Peter Parent of Groveton United Methodist Church officiating. Burial followed at Maple Stewart Cemetery in Bethlehem. Twombly, 79, of Pittsburg and formerly of North Conway, died on September 27, 2003 at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook, following a sudden illness. Born in North Conway, he was the son of Willis and Rachel (Seavey) Twombly and a lifelong resident of North Conway. He was graduated from Kennett High School in 1941 and was an Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Twombly had been employed with the former White Mountain Power Company for many years, and since 1967 he was a self-employed electrician prior to retirement. He was a member of North Conway American Legion Post #95 and a former member of the North Conway Fire Department. Sherm was an avid hunter and fisherman. The family includes two daughters, June Addario of Gorham and Joan Twombly of Conway; three sons, Paul Buffelli of Silver Lake, Todd Twombly and Timothy Twombly, both of Sullivan; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Smith and Joanne Campbell, both of North Conway; a brother, Richard Twombly, and his wife Gladys of Conway; a brother-in-law, Richard Chase, of Kear-sarge; a sister-in-law, Ruth Twombly, of North Conway; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visiting hours were held on Tuesday evening at the Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Kearsarge Cemetery. (Davis) Small, 96, of West Stewartstown and formerly of Hollis, Maine, died on Tuesday evening, September 23, 2003 at the Coös County Nursing Hospital. Mrs. Small was born on December 12, 1906 in Cutler, Maine, the daughter of the late Hermetta and Leo (Gardner) Davis. She was employed as a kindergarten teacher for the Massachusetts Public School System. Mrs. Small was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene H. Small. There will be no calling hours. A private family service will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Jenkins Funeral Home of Colebrook. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WILLIAM WIBBELT JR. William F. Wibbelt Jr., 71, of Pittsburg, died on Tuesday, September 23, 2003 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon as the result of injuries sustained from an accident on September 28, 2003 in West Stewartstown. Born on May 27, 1932 in Morristown, N.J., he was the son of William and Anna (Thoren) Wibbelt. While growing up, Mr. Wibbelt served as an altar boy at St. Virgil's Church in Morris Plains, N.J. He was a graduate of Morristown High School, and entered the Army soon after graduation. Mr. Wibbelt was a Korean War veteran. After his discharge from the Army he returned to Morristown, where he joined the Plumbers & Steamfitters Union Local #334. He held various positions in the union, and ultimately became the Business Agent/Union Leader for the Local #334. Mr. Wibbelt retired in 1994 and moved to Pittsburg, where he became active in North Country affairs. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, especially grouse, fishing and hiking with his dog, "Pal." Mr. Wibbelt was a life member of the National Rifle Association, and was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Mr. Wibbelt is survived by two daughters, Cindy Ziccarello of Whippany, N.J. and Wendy Rothchild of Mt. Olive, N.J.; a brother, Robert Wibbelt, of North Carolina; his special friend of 38 years, Carmine Fea of Pittsburg and Parsippany, N.J.; and five grandchildren. Calling hours were held on Friday, September 26 on Saturday, September 27 at the Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. A funeral Mass was held on Saturday morning at St. Brendan's Church in Colebrook, with the Rev. Albert Bellefeuille officiating.
