KATHERINE ACKERT Mrs. Katherine E. (Angevine) Ackert, 68, of Colebrook, died suddenly on Saturday, Novem-ber 1, 2003 at the Concord Hospital in Concord, following complications from back surgery. Mrs. Ackert was born on September 28, 1935 in Upton, Maine, the daughter of the late John and Gladys (Lombard) Angevine. Mrs. Ackert was a graduate of the Gould Academy in 1953. She was a civil servant for the United States Department of Defense, working at the Pentagon until her retirement. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, crafts, and helping with church functions. She also enjoyed traveling and attending craft shows. Mrs. Ackert is survived by her five brothers and sisters, Avery Angevine, Ernest Angevine and wife Alberta, of Bethel, Maine, Carrie Holt and husband Carlton, of Berlin, Mary Agnes Deblois and husband Orial of Shelburne, and John Angevine and wife Constance of Stewarts-town; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by three brothers, Everett Angevine, George Angevine and Chester Arthur Angevine; and three sisters, Luella Angevine, Helen Robichaud and Suzanne Morris. Calling hours were held Tuesday morning, November 4 at the Jenkins Funeral Home, with a funeral service following at the Monadnock Congregational Church in Colebrook. The Reverend Oliver Northcott officiated. An interment service was held at the Upton Cemetery in Upton, Maine, immediately following the funeral service. Friends and family attended a reception after the interment service to be held at the Ladies Aid Auxiliary building in Upton. Roy Gilman Corbett, USMC, retired, 71, of Sun City Center, Fla., died on October 31, 2003 after a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrigıs Disease). He is dearly missed and survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Jean; son Jim Corbett and is wife Maddie of Charlottesville, Va.; daughter Kathy Kelly Walker and her husband Don of Jonesboro, Ga.; daughter Pam Corbett of Reston, Va.; five grandchildren; brothers Albert of Middlebury, Vt., Marshall of Libby, Mont., and sister Geraldine of Hamp-den Mass. He is predeceased by his mother, Doris Keene Cor-bett, his father, Gerald Albert Corbett, and stepmother Evelyn Daniels Corbett. Roy was born in Colebrook in 1932. He was graduated in 1954 from Springfield College in Springfield, Mass., where he studied physical education and met his wife, Jean. He received his master of science degree at Washington State University and his CAGS in education from Rhode Island College. Roy was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps in March, 1956, and ultimately rose to the rank of colonel. Roy, a Vietnam veteran, was recognized for his outstanding service by receiving a number of awards, including the Decorated Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medical, and Navy Commendation Medal with Combat "V." After retiring from the Marine Corps in 1982, Roy served as museum administrator at the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, Md. He retired in 1993, and he and Jean settled in Sun City Center, Fla. Roy was an active member of his community, serving as vice president of the Wedgewood III homeowners' association, president of the Sun City Center Chapter of TROA, a Deacon at United Community Church, Deputy Captain of the Sun City Center Security Patrol, and a member of the ROC board at Freedom Plaza. Roy was an avid golfer, who loved sports and appreciated simple pleasures, such as observing the birds surrounding his home. He was a loving husband and father who always put his family first. Roy's dedication to his beliefs, his service to his community and his service to his country exemplified his personality and left lasting contributions. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 8 at the United Community Church in Sun City Center. Roy will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors at a later date. Mr. Dimek was born on March 2, 1967 in Bayonne, N.J., the son of Walter and Barbara (Polonski) Dimek. He was employed as a registered nurse for the Coös County Nursing Hospital in West Stewartstown. He will be remembered for dedicating his life to his work. Mr. Dimek is survived by his loving wife, Tina Dimek, of Pittsburg; his parents, Walter and Barbara Dimek, of Montrose, Pa.; a brother, Walter Dimek, of Dixmont, Maine; a nephew, John Michael Weeks; and a niece, Isabelle Rose Dimek. Hodge, 85, of Colebrook, died on Wednesday, October 29, 2003 at the Coös County Nursing Hospital in West Stewartstown. She was born on September 8, 1918 in Clarksville, the daughter of Willie and Lila (Pond) Crawford. Mrs. Hodge attended elementary school in East Colebrook and was graduated from Colebrook Academy in 1937. She was married to Celon Hodge Sr. on January 8, 1938. Mrs. Hodge and her husband ran a farm for many years in Stewartstown. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Colebrook and a longtime member of the Mohawk Grange. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. Mrs. Hodge is survived by a son, Celon George Hodge Jr. of Stewartstown; two daughters, Mrs. Arnold (Sylvia) Goodrum of Colebrook and Norma Hodge of Colebrook; a brother, Kenneth Crawford of Colebrook; a sister, Zella Kenney of Colebrook; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Colebrook, with the Reverend Priscilla Hull officiating and followed by burial at Colebrook Village Cemetery. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ALPHONSE MAURAIS Alphonse A. Maurais, 82, of Berlin, died on October 29, 2003 at his home. He was born in Berlin on October 13, 1921, the son of Edouard and Odila (Jacques) Maurais, and had lived in Berlin most of his life. Mr. Maurais was a Navy veteran of World War II and had served in the Seabees. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed by Brown Company and James River Corporation as a pipefitter. He had also been self-employed in the plumbing and heating business as owner of Al's Plumbing and Heating. Mr. Maurais was a member of Holy Family Church in Gorham, Holy Name Society and a member of White Mountain Post 2520 VFW. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and bowling. Family members include two daughters, Mrs. Russell (Denise) Doucette of Milan and Mrs. Michael (Michele) Morin of Berlin; three grandchildren; seven sisters, Marie Dupuis, Jeanne Nadeau, Blandine Maurais, Marguerite Coulombe, Florence Roy, Gilberte Roy and Therese Godin, all of Berlin; a brother, Albert Maurais, of Lemington; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Laura L. (Fecteau) Maurais, who died May 9, 2003. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday at Holy Family Church in Gorham, with interment in Russian City Cemetery. Relatives and friends called at the Bryant Funeral Home on Friday evening. Paquette, 64, of Chelmsford, Mass., Regional Director for Excel Communi-cations and Assistant Director for Business Network International, died on Monday, October 27. He was the beloved husband of Gwendolyn K. Paquette. He was born in Stratford on November 19, 1938, the son of Oral and Isabelle Paquette, and was educated in the Stratford school system. He attended Plymouth State Teachers' College, where he received his bachelor of arts degree in education. He was a member of Lutheran Church of The Savior in Bedford, Mass., where he was very involved in supporting missions work and serving his Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a dedicated school teacher and worked with World Book Educational Products for over 20 years. He was also on the alumni board for Plymouth State University. His employment career included serving as regional director at Excel Communications, and as assistant director at Business Network International. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Craig Paquette of Travelers Rest, S.C., Curt Paquette of Methuen, Mass. and Clark Paquette of Pabellon, Mexico; two daughters, Cheri Jo Perry of Greenville, S.C. and Christina Walsh of Westboro, Mass.; two stepsons, Douglas and Stuart Powers of Chelmsford, Mass.; five brothers, Ronald Paquette of Leesburg, Fla., Gary Paquette of Stratford, Peter Paquette of Smithtown, N.Y., Mark Paquette of Cortland, N.Y. and Barden Paquette of Hudson, N.H.; and a sister, Judith Bunnell, of Portsmouth. He also leaves his 13 grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and good friends. Friends visited the family on Saturday afternoon, November 1 at the Lutheran Church of The Savior in Bedford, Mass. A memorial service was held at the church on Sunday afternoon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for missions may be made in Nelsonıs name to Lutheran Church of the Savior. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TIMOTHY PERRY Timothy L. Perry, 53, of Ashland, died peacefully on October 28, 2003, at the Speare Memorial Hospital hospice room in Plymouth after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Laconia on October 9, 1950, the son of Merle F. and Virginia I. (Bean) Perry. He was a resident of Ashland for most of his life. Mr. Perry was a graduate of Colebrook Academy in 1969 and the New Hampshire Technical School in 1973. He had been an owner and operator of Perry's Sport Shop in Ashland for 15 years. He was last employed as a machinist for Tobin Tool and Design in Northfield. Mr. Perry was an avid golfer and loved to travel with his wife. The family includes his wife of 20 years, Mary Vittum of Ashland; two daughters, Jennifer Vittum of Richmond, Va. and Maggie Blais of Groton; three grandchildren; a sister, Marcia Johnson of Crofton, Md.; and nephews. There are no calling hours. A memorial service was held on Saturday at Ashland Baptist Church, with The Rev. James E. Morel officiating. Burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made to Speare Memorial Hospital, Hospice Room 16 Hospital Drive, Plymouth. Mayhew Funeral Home in Plymouth is in charge of the arrangements.
