SIMONNE MARIE COTE Simonne M. Cote, 77, of Colebrook, died on Saturday, November 15, 2003 at the Coös County Nursing Hospital in Stewartstown. She was born on February 18, 1926 in Scotstown, Quebec, the daughter of Wilfred and Yvonne (Beadreau) St. Onge. Mrs. Cote attended school in Canada. She was married to Adrien Cote on August 9, 1947. The Cotes moved to Connecticut in 1964, later moving to Hinsdale, N.H., in 1973. She was employed for many years by the Bridgeport Metal Company in Hinsdale. She and her husband moved to Colebrook in 1998. Mrs. Cote enjoyed reading and family life. Simonne M. Cote is survived by her husband, Adrien Cote of Colebrook; two sons, John Cote of Manchester and Frank Cote of Colebrook; two daughters, Louise Dumais of New Britain, Conn., and Manon Hudon of Hinsdale; a brother, Camille St. Onge of Sherbrooke, Quebec; two sisters, Rachel St. Onge of Sherbrooke and Therese Duval of Cowansville, Quebec; and three grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Pierre Cote, in 1998, and a sister, Monique Duval, in 1988. Calling hours were held on Monday, November 17 at the Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Brendan's Church on Tuesday morning, with the Reverend Albert Bellefeuille officiating. Burial will be in St. Brendan's Cemetery. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WESLEY HARTWELL Wesley "Hoot" Hartwell, 86, died on Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at the Coös County Nursing Hospital . He was born on November 18, 1916 in Amesbury, Mass., the son of Eugene and Florence (Dingman) Hartwell. Mr. Hartwell attended school in Kidderville, and was an Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Hartwell was a well known North Country auto mechanic, as he worked for numerous garages and ran his own garage for many years. He was always willing to help someone out and often worked on people's cars for free. He was an expert marksman and is remembered as someone who nearly always won local turkey shoots. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion. Wesley "Hoot" Hartwell is survived by three sons, Freeman W. Hartwell of Colebrook, Tony D. Hartwell of Clarksville and Brian Hartwell of Massachusetts; four daughters, Betsy Lynch and Pheobe Johnston, both of Colebrook, Linda Thibeault of Candia and Ramona Washer of Belmont, N.H.; 19 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Beulah Jackson, in 1996, and by a brother and seven sisters. Calling hours were held on Thursday, November 13 at the Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. Funeral services, officiated by the Reverend Robert Washer, were held on Friday afternoon at the funeral home. Private burial services will be held at the Colebrook Village Cemetery. Jameson, 96, of Springfield, Mass., died on November 13, 2003 at Reeds Landing after a long illness. Born on September 11, 1907 in Colebrook, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Kate (Fuller) Jameson. She was a graduate of Colebrook Academy and Simmons College in Boston. One of five daughters of Charles and Kate, she moved to Fairhaven, Mass. with her mother after the untimely death of her sister to raise her sister's two small children. Miss Jameson settled in Springfield in 1953, where she had a long career as administrator and teacher at Springfield's Trade School and Apprentice Program. She was a member of many educational associations in Springfield, served as president and in other capacities of Delta Kappa Gamma Honor Society, was an active member of the Springfield Garden Club, Springfield College Club, Springfield Women's Club, Connecticut Valley Simmons Club, Springfield Craftmen's Guild, Church Women United, South Congregation Church, where she served as deacon and on many committees, the Retired Teacherıs Association, and the YWCA. She was known for her slide collection, having traveled extensively, and her beautiful handwork. Miss Jameson was one of the first residents of Reeds Landing upon its opening in 1995. She was predeceased by her nephew, John S. Fallow formerly of Marion, Mass.; six nieces, including Virginia Stickney and Elinor Gooch of Colebrook; two nephews; and many grandnieces and nephews. There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held in December. Burial will be at the Village Cemetery in Colebrook in the Spring. Dickinson-Streeter Funeral Home of Springfield is in charge of arrangements. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CHARLES MINKLER Charles Minkler, 92, of Colebrook, died on Monday morning, November 17, 2003 at the Coös County Nursing Hospital in Stewartstown. Calling hours will be held from 9:30-11 a.m. on Thursday, November 19 at the Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Spring at Pine Grove Cemetery in Newport, Vt. A full obituary will appear in next week's paper.
