GERTRUDE ROBERTS Gertrude (Ripley) Roberts, 87, of South Tamworth, died on December 6, 2003 at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. She was born on August 24, 1916 in Colebrook, and had lived in Tamworth since 1937. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles E. Roberts, and a daughter, Dorothy Nadeau. The family includes two daughters, Shirley Eldridge of Tamworth and Lois Banfill of South Tamworth; a stepdaughter, Betty Drady, of Epping; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Margaret Davenport of Berlin and Kathleen Roberts of South Paris, Maine. There are no calling hours. Memorial services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the South Tamworth Methodist Church, Route 25, Tamworth. Lord Funeral Home of Moultonville Road, Center Ossipee, assisted with arrangements. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- JOHN SHIRLEY John Shirley, 85, of Sawyer, Okla., died on December 7, 2003 at Choctaw Memorial Hospital in Hugo, Okla. John was born on May 23, 1918, the son of Franklin Morrison Shirley and Leah Elizabeth (Sanders) Shirley, and had lived most of his life in the Sawyer area. He worked for the city of Guymon for 20 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by sons John Wesley Shirley and Billie Cecil Shirley; a daughter, Agnes Leah Israel; brothers Elmer, Fred and Cecil Shirley; and sisters Jewel Sanders and Joyce Piearcy. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10 at the Miller and Miller Funeral Home in Hugo. Mr. Shirley is survived by his wife, Lois Shirley; two sons, William Cecil Shirley of Clarksville and Albert Louis Shirley of Sawyer, Okla.; a daughter, Robbie Lynn Muckle of Blenheim, Ontario; an adopted daughter, Kim Chancellor of Sawyer, Okla.; 24 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Corinth Baptist Church on Thursday at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Bennie Hammons officiating. Burial will be in the Ft. Towson Cemetery in Ft. Towson, Okla.
