Gallant LISBON — Norman L. Gallant, 57, of Lisbon died on June 26, 2003, at Cottage Hospital in Woodville as a result of an auto accident in Woodsville on the same day. He was born in Nashua, the son of John and Marion (Liberty) Gallant. He has resided in Lisbon for the past 22 years. He was a truck driver, and was last employed by Karl Johnson Trucking of Lyndonville, Vt. He is survived by two daughters, Jody Gallant of Lisbon, Amy and husband Dana Prehemo of Pittsburg; five grandchildren, Steven, Jarrett, and Brodie Gallant, Robbie and Brielle Prehemo; one sister Shirley Duhamel of Merrimack. A Memorial Service was held at the Ross Funeral Home, Lisbon Chapel on Monday, June 30. Burial will take place at a later date in the Grove Hill Cemetery, Lisbon. Hodgkinson, 91, of Northfield, Minn., formerly of Bristol, Conn., husband of Frieda (Spiess) Hodgkinson died on Thursday, June 26, 2003 in Northfield, Minn. He was born in Bristol on April 9, 1912 and was a son of the late George and Ruth (Parkin) Hodgkinson. Raised in Bristol, he lived here until moving to Glendale, Calif. in 1938 where he lived for 40 years and retired from Williams Furnace Co. in 1978. In 1979 he moved to Whitefield where he lived until recently moving to Northfield, Minn. Mr. Hodgkinson was a member of Franklin Lodge #56 AF and AM of Bristol, and also the White Mountain Lodge #86 AF and AM, Royal Arch Lodge, the Knight Templar Commandery, Becktash Shrine, and the Littleton Elk’s Lodge—all of New Hampshire. In addition to his wife, Frieda, he leaves a son and daughter-in-law, Erving V. and Sherron Hodgkinson of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a daughter, JoAnne Hodgkinson of Las Vegas, Nev.; two stepdaughters, Samantha Sunderlin and her husband Dean of Faribault, Minn., and Gretchen Moisen and her husband Steve of Salt Lake City, Ut; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Gladys, and a brother, Georgie. A funeral service was held on July 1 at Funk Funeral Home in Bristol, Conn., with the Rev. Earl Keirstead, Pastor of the First Congregational Church, officiating. Burial followed in West Cemetery in Bristol. Ruth Lillian (Amero) Martin WEST STEWARTSTOWN — Ruth Lillian (Amero) Martin, 78, formerly of Clarksville, died on June 29, 2003 at the Coös County Nursing Hospital. Mrs. Martin was born on June 15, 1925 in Salem, Mass., the daughter of George and Winifred (Illsey) Amero. Mrs. Martin was an excellent homemaker. She was a servant of the Lord in various churches by cooking, cleaning, typing letters, and performing other church-related duties. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Family members include her husband, William J, Martin, Jr. of Clarksville; five children, William Martin III of West Stewartstown, Frances martin of Bristol, Lillian Emerson of Franklin, David Martin of Lakeport and Phillip Martin of Bristol; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 3 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Jenkins funeral Home in Colebrook with a funeral to follow on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Community Baptist Church in Colebrook. Interment services will be conducted at the Young Cemetery in Clarksville with the Rev. William Martin officiating. Porfido WHITEFIELD – Marjorie A. Porfido, 86, Laurel St., died Sunday, June 29, 2003 at the Genesis Healthcare Center in Lebanon after a brief illness. Mrs. Porfido was born in Piermont on Oct. 15, 1916, the daughter of Ralph and Hattie (Molway) Webster. She attended the local school in Piermont and later lived in Littleton until moving to Whitefield in 1967. She was a dedicated social worker who, for many years, worked closely with local senior citizens. She founded the Whitefield Senior Citizens Center and was instrumental in bringing the Meals-on-Wheels program to the Whitefield and Lancaster area. She was a member of the Mount Washington Grange and received the Community Citizen Award in recognition of outstanding service to the community and mankind. Mrs. Porfido was well known and respected for her contributions to the elderly. She loved spending time with her family, cooking, gardening and reading. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed. She is survived by a son, Ralph Porfido, two daughters, Dorothy Wright and Stella (Mrs. David) Harris, all of Littleton; three grandchildren, Mrs. Brett (Holly Wright) Robinson, Preston, Ct.; Jessica Harris and Shane Harris, both of Littleton. Two brothers, Alan Webster and Ralph Webster and a sister, Dorothy Webster, preceded her in death. A Mass of the Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 3 at 11 a.m. at the St. Matthews Catholic Church in Whitefield with Fr. George Majka in charge. A graveside service will be held following the service at 1:30 p.m. at the South Lawn Cemetery in Piermont. Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Porfido’s name to the charity of one’s choice. Ross Funeral Home, Whitefield Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
