Elsemiller COLEBROOK — Daniel W. Elsemiller, 74, died on July 23, 2003 at his home, following a brief illness. He was born on September 14, 1928 in Boston, the son of Daniel and Ethel P. (Moulton) Elsemiller. He was a graduate of Wellesley High School, class of 1946 and Worcester Junior College, class of 1948 and attended the Franklin Technical Institute. Mr. Elsemiller had lived in Colebrook since August 2002, previously residing 19 years in Hooksett, five years in Manchester and 30 years in Framingham, Mass. He looked forward to his daily work and retired in 1996 after 50 years of employment with the Portland Group, spending the first 30 years of his career as the sales manager at Webb Supply in Framingham, later becoming the general manager of River Valley Supply in Haverhill, Mass. Mr. Elsemiller was a member of Alpha Lodge A.F.& A.M. in Framingham and a former 30-year member of the BPOE, also in Framingham. An avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman, he loved the North Country, but his greatest joy the past 25 years had been the home he and his wife built in Colebrook with its pond and panoramic views. He also loved to read, cook, travel, and dance. Family members include his wife of 53 years, Irene L. (Garvin) Elsemiller of Colebrook; a daughter, Verian L. Bambery of Plainville, Mass.; two sons, Daniel C. Elsemiller of Haverhill, Mass. and Dana Elsemiller of Milford, Mass.; five grandchildren; a brother, Robert H. Elsemiller of Pompano Beach, Fla.; nieces and nephews. Calling hours were held on Sunday at the Goodwin Funeral Home in Manchester. A funeral service was held on Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Douglas Rickard officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 360 Route 101, Suite 501, Bedford, NH 03110; or the Arthritis Foundation, New Hampshire Region, 59 School St., Concord, NH 03301. Ellen “Nellie” Humphrey GILMAN, Vt. — Ellen “Nellie” Humphrey, 70, of Gilman, Vt. died on Friday evening, July 25, 2003 at the Littleton Regional Hospital. She was born on November 16, 1932 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the daughter of the late Alphonse and Grace (Hoare) Bellefountaine. On March 6, 1956, she married Lawrence R. Humphrey. Nellie and her family lived in Nashua for 28 years. She worked many years as a tester of aircraft instruments for Kolsman Manufacturing Co. in Nashua. Later, she worked at Butson’s Market in Littleton. In recent years, she was a member of the Senior Center of Gilman. Nellie enjoyed bowling, attending yard sales, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Lawrence Humphrey of Gilman; four sons, Kenneth Humphrey and companion Donna Winslow of Bethlehem, N.H., Lon Joseph Humphrey and Stephen Humphrey, both of Gilman, and Nathan Humphrey of Nashua, N.H.; two daughters, Rosina Despres and husband George of Mason, N.H. and Klara Humphrey of Gilman; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Michael Bellefountaine and wife Betty of Prince Edward Island and Kenneth Bellfountaine and wife Wanda of Calgary, Alberta. Nellie was pre-deceased by her son Lawrence Humphrey in 1985 and her sister Rita Rosina Dingwall. Services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Guibord Funeral Home of Lyndonville, Vt. is assisting with arrangements. Jean C. Martin LANCASTER — A graveside service for Jean C. Martin, who died on November 30, 2002 in Tucson, Arizona, will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday August 4, at Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster. The Rev. Curtis W. Smith of Lancaster, will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster.
