Priscilla Carlisle Beaton GROVETON — Priscilla Carlisle Beaton, 90, of Pleasant Street, died on Friday afternoon, Dec. 12, 2003, at the Littleton Regional Hospital. Mrs. Beaton was born in Maidstone, Vt. on Nov. 19, 1913 the daughter of Carlisle H. and Jessie (Paige) Beattie. Priscilla attended Maidstone and Guildhall, Vt., schools and graduated from Groveton High School in the class of 1931. She was also a 1936 graduate of the Mary Fletcher Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Beaton was the widow of Franklin “Honey” Beaton who died in January of 1996. They were married 57 years. She was a charter member of the Ave Maria Circle of Daughters of Isabella. Family members include a daughter Nancy C. Beaton of Groveton; three grandchildren, John O. Lynch of Westmoreland, Kathleen E. Hogan of Fairfax, Vt., and Michael J. Lynch of Sugar Hill; eight great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Her parents; her husband; three brothers, David Beattie, Stanley Beattie, George McVetty Jr.; and her stepfather, George McVetty Sr. died previously. There were no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 2 at All Saints Church, Lancaster. The Rev. Raymond Ball, pastor, officiated. Burial will be held in the spring in Ridgwell Cemetery, Guildhall, Vt. Roland DeLaBruere Sr. ISLAND POND, Vt. — Roland DeLaBruere Sr., 82, of Island Pond, Vt., died at his home on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003. He was the beloved husband of Cecile. Funeral services were held on Dec. 10 at the Grace Brethren Church in Island Pond, with the Rev. Jake Kocis officiating. Spring interment will take place at the Lakeview Cemetery in Island Pond. Ruth Holland WHITEFIELD — Ruth Betty (DeLisle) Holland, 76, of Whitefield, died on Monday, December 8, 2003 at the home of her son and family on Lost Nation Road, Lancaster, after a battle with breast cancer. She was born in Montpelier, Vt. on Oct. 14, 1927 to Emmen and Rose (Picke) DeLisle. She settled in Albany, N.Y. and married the late Nels Holland. She raised three sons and five stepdaughters. In 1995 she moved to Whitefield to be near her family. She resided at the McIntyre School Apartments, where she enjoyed many hours spent with friends there. Family members include her three sons, Joseph Libby and wife Kaye of Lafayette, Ind., Kenneth Libby of Glen Falls, N.Y. and Anthony Libby and wife Jeanine of Lancaster. Ruth enjoyed many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There were no calling hours. A memorial service was held on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 11 a.m. at the United Congregational Church of Lancaster. Francis Ledger TAMPA, Fla. — Francis Ledger, 84 of Tampa, Fla. died on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at his home in Tampa. Born Dec. 12, 1918, he was the eldest son of the Late Frank and Nettie (Brigham) Ledger. Dutie attended Groveton High School where he was a member of most every sports program available. He served his country in WWII, and was a decorated veteran, with many honors. He retired from the Groveton Paper Co. in 1981 after 20 years of loyal service. He was preceded in death by his wife Anne D (Cole) Ledger. His family includes two children, Nancyellen Baird of Goodwater, Ala. and Andrew D. Ledger of Tampa Fla., six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, four brothers, one sister, many nieces and nephews. A memorial graveside service is being planned for in the spring. She was born in Milan on April 8, 1920 the daughter of Edwin and Dora (Wheeler) York and had resided in Milan and Randolph all her life. She was the widow of Glenn M. Lowe Sr. Family members include six sons, Leonard Lowe of Haines City, Fla., Charles Lowe of Randolph, Vernon Lowe of Duluth, Minn., Wendell Lowe of Ohio, Larry Lowe of Gorham, and David Lowe of Goffstown; three daughters, Barbara Wright of South Royalton, Vt., Joyce Chaffee of Southington, Oh., and Lillian Peabody of Berlin; 41 grandchildren; many great- grandchildren; one brother, Elmer York of Milan; one sister, Helen Owen of West Stewartstown; nieces, nephews and cousins. Her son, Glenn M. Lowe Jr. and two daughters, Virginia Richards and Jean Lowe died previously. There were no calling hours. A memorial service was held on Saturday, Dec.13 at 11 a.m. at the Bryant Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Randolph Cemetery at a later date. Lucille Malasky JEFFERSON — Lucille Rocheleau (Fisette) Malasky, 80, of 382 Presidential Highway, died on December 11, 2003. Mrs. Malasky was born in Berlin, on Feb. 7, 1923, the daughter of Albert and Valerie (Gilbert) Fisette. She attended the Cascade Convent School. At one time she worked in the Cascade Towel Room and during the summers she cleaned for private families. Lucille married Alex Malasky on November 27, 1944. She was a member of All Saints Church, Lancaster. Her family includes her loving husband of 59 years, Alex Malasky of Jefferson; a son, Michael A. Malasky and his wife Marilyn A. (Merrow) Malasky of Newmarket; a daughter, Janice (Malasky) McKenna and her husband Dennis McKenna of East Northport, N.Y.; a sister, Yolande (Fisette) Rancourt and her husband Robert Rancourt of Gorham; seen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild on the way. Her parents and a sister Charlotte (Fisette) Lavoie died previously. Visiting hours were held on Friday, Dec. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. Elsie May Murray WHITEFIELD — Elsie May Murray, 59, of 27 Hazen Road, died at the Littleton Regional Hospital on Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, following a long illness. She was born in Whitefield, the daughter of Frederick and Ina (Earl) Hill. She attended local schools, was the original owner of the former Elli’s Deli in Whitefield, and more recently had been employed at Martin’s Food Basket. For many years she and her husband were members of the Colonel Town Skirts & Flirts Square Dancers of Lancaster. Elsie loved to travel and she became an ardent shuffleboard player when they visited Arizona. Her family was the major love of her life, and her children and grandchildren received her constant attention. She is survived by her husband, Robert Murray of Whitefield; two sons, Raymond Murray and his wife Vicki of Goshen, Ind., and Douglas Murray and friend Crystal McCarthy of Whitefield; two daughters, Annette Pittman and her fiancé Terry LeClair of Lyndonville, Vt., and Betty Murray of Whitefield; nine grandchildren, Wayne Pittman, Tyler Murray, Cynthia Council, Kandi-Lea Council, Amber Council, Erica Murray, Colin Murray, Chris Murray and Allen Murray; and three brothers, Frederick Hill Jr. of Wayland, N.Y., Robert Hill of Lisbon, and James Hill of Lancaster. Funeral services were held at the Advent Christian Church in Whitefield on Monday, Dec. 15. Burial will take place in the Park Street Cemetery, Whitefield. (York) Owen, 96, formerly of North Stratford, died on Dec. 10, 2003 at Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital. She was born on Dec. 13, 1906 in Milan, the daughter of Edwin and Dora (Wheeler) York. Mrs. Owen was educated in the Milan school system and lived most of her adult life in North Stratford. She moved to the Coös County Nursing Hospital in West Stewartstown one-and-a-half years ago. She retired from the paper mill in Groveton at age 64, after 31 years of employment. She was a member of the Grange for 76 years and of the Senior Citizens for more than 30 years. Mrs. Owen volunteered much of her time to helping others. She was a spirited and loving woman who enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. The family includes a son, Victor York of Winchester, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; a brother, Elmer York of Cedar Pond; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Her husband, Durwood Herbert Owen, died previously. A graveside service will be conducted in the spring at Stewartstown Hollow Cemetery. Prest WHITEFIELD — Nancy (Hosmer) Prest, 88, of Prospect Street, died on Sunday December 7, 2003 at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster. Nancy was born in Lowell, Mass. on October 7, 1915 the daughter of Charles H. and Elanor (Barbour) Hosmer. She resided for a time in Leominster, Mass., returning to Lowell where she was a graduate of Lowell High School. Nancy went to a designing school in Boston to learn to become a designer for women’s undergarments. She was employed in New Jersey designing parachutes for the Army and was then employed by Textron, returning to Lowell where she worked for 20 years. Family members include her husband of 33 years, Curt A. Prest of Whitefield; two foster children, Keturah “Kitty” Barker of Melbourne, Fla., Loring A. Prest of California, Penn.; four grandchildren; a brother, Frank Hosmer and wife of Andover, Mass.; and cousins. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Dec.19 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Church, Main Street, Lancaster, followed by a visiting time at the parish hall. Donations may be made in her memory to a charity of one’s choice. Patricia L. Pychevicz NORTHUMBERLAND — Patricia L. Pychevicz, 50, of Dean Brook Road, died on Friday morning, Dec. 12, 2003 at the Lafayette Center, Franconia, after a long illness. Mrs. Pychevicz was born in Oakland, Md. on March 3, 1953, a daughter of Edgar L. and Glenna V. (Stone) Zweyer. She was raised in West Virginia, residing in Kingwood for 17 years. She had resided in the North Country for several years and was employed at the Lafayette Center, Franconia, as a dietician’s aid. She was a Jehovah’s Witness. Family members include her husband, Joseph Pychevicz of Northumberland; a son, Robert J. Watkins of Kingwood, W.V.; a daughter, Delvina G. Watkins of Littleton; her mother, Glenna V. (Stone) Zweyer of Kingwood, W.V.; five grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas C. Zweyer of Morgantown, W.V., William W. Zweyer of Tunelton, W.V.; two sisters, Enid E. Nicola of Independence, W.V., and Barbara R. Taylor of Hawaii. Her first husband, Peter A. Watkins, died previously. There are no visiting hours. Elsie Senuta HANOVER — Elsie (Krug) Senuta, 81, died on Dec. 9, 2003 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and grew up in Puerto Rico and Montreal, P.Q., Canada. After receiving a BA degree from Wellesley College in 1943, she worked for the Army Map Service in Washington, D. C. during World War II. She married Lt. Joseph F. Senuta in 1944. Their four children were born and grew up in Massachusetts. Lancaster became her new home after her husband died in 1971. In the 1970s, Elsie was active in the White Mountains Festival of the Arts in Jefferson as Trustee and Treasurer, followed by the Waumbek Center for the Arts. Some of her other activities included the New Hampshire Youth Orchestra, the North Country Chamber Players, the Weeks State Park Association and The North Country League of Women Voters. In the 1990s, she served on the Second Century Campaign Committee and was Trustee of the Weeks Memorial Library in Lancaster. She moved to Kendal at Hanover in October of 2001. Here, she was Treasurer of the League of Women Voters, co-chair of the Committee for Volunteers for the manning of the reception desk after hours, put together, typed and distributed the Kendal biographies, volunteered at the health center, drove residents to medical appointments and donated her marimba to the music committee. Whenever any committee needed someone to type anything, Elsie was always the one to volunteer. She is survived by a son, Rick Senuta of Hanover; three daughters and spouses, Joanne and Kirk Kobert of Phoenix, Ariz., Alice and Roger Haine of Conway; Meg Senuta and David Haselkom of Belmont, Mass.; and four grandsons, Simon Haine, Christopher Haine, Joshua Haselkom and Isaac Haselkom. She will be missed by her late brother Frank’s family, the Krugs from Canada, as well. (Ingerson) Shute, 94, of Benton Road, died on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003 at the home of her daughter-in-law Doris Shute, after a long illness. She was born in Jefferson on April 28, 1909, the daughter of Harry and Emily (Applebee) Ingerson. Mary was a housewife and home health care provider for area residents. The family includes two daughters, Leona Herron and Elsie Elwood, both of Suncook; one son, Stanley W. Shute of North Haverhill; 15 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Her husband, Stanley W. Shute Sr., a son, Lawrence Stanley Shute, and a brother, George Ingerson died previously. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 17 (today) at 1 p.m. at Ricker Funeral Home, Birch Lane, Woodsville. The Rev. Vadia Boudreau of the North Haverhill United Methodist Church will officiate. Spring burial will be in Center Haverhill Cemetery.
