Henshaw KINGSTON - George Edward Henshaw, 83, of Exeter Road, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, in Exeter Hospital. He was born April 24, 1919, in Salem, Mass., the son of the late Wallace L. and Helen M. (Newcomb) Henshaw. He resided in North Andover, Mass., before moving to Kingston in 1959. He was a 1937 graduate of Salem High School and attended Northeastern University. He played high school and college football. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving three years in the South Pacific as a medical technician. He was the recipient of the Presidential Citation, C067 American Division, the American Defense Service Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon with two service stars. Mr. Henshaw owned and operated a dairy farm until his retirement 20 years ago. He was a longtime member of the Starr King Lodge AF & AM of Salem. In his youth he enjoyed skiing as a member of a club that built their own lodge in North Conway, sailing with the Sea Scouts and climbing Mt. Katahdin. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lillian A. (Kersis) Henshaw of Kingston; one daughter, Valerie A. Gilbert of California; two sons, George E. Henshaw of California and Richard F. Henshaw of East Kingston; four grandchildren; and one brother, Lenley Henshaw of Wells, Maine. Memorial services were held Tuesday in the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter, with the Rev. Paige BRENTWOOD - Geraldine Maloon Paige, 92, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, in Brentwood. She was born in Auburn, Maine, and had resided in Chelmsford Center, Mass., Windsor, Barre and Burlington, Vt., Goffstown, and Bristol, Conn. She was a graduate of Edward Little High School and was a 1932 graduate of Bates College, Lewiston, Maine. She studied one year at Andover Newton Theological Seminary, Newton, Mass. When her husband became ill, Mrs. Paige accepted the position of Christian education director of the Goffstown Congregational Church. She later became the assistant to the minister in Bristol, Conn., and later served as the director of Christian Education in Lynnfield Center, Mass. For more than 10 years she worked on staffs of Stonleigh Burnham, Greenfield, Mass., Ethel Walker School, Simsbury, Conn., and Montpelier (Vt.) Junior College. She was a member of the Atkinson United Church of Christ; the Women’s Fellowship of the Church; past president of the XYZ Senior Citizens; a trustee of the Atkinson Historical Society; and chaplain of the Molly Reid Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Derry. The widow of the Rev. Howard Paige, she is survived by three children, David of Norfolk, Va., Margaret of Nashua and Robert of South Berwick, Maine; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to the Atkinson Congregational Church Memorial Fund. Norma G. St. Germaine VENICE, Fla. - Norma G. (Evans) St. Germaine, 78, of 864 Jamaica Road, South Venice, died Jan. 7, 2003, in Bon Secours Hospital, Venice. She was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and came to this country as a child. She resided in Wareham, Mass., for several years moving to East Hampstead in 1965. She attended schools in Plymouth and Bourne, Mass. Mrs. St. Germaine was a postal clerk in the East Hampstead post office and was a bookkeeper for several local companies. She had previously been acting postmaster in Wareham from 1955 until 1965 and had worked in the cafeteria at Wareham High School. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Francis X. St. Germaine; two sons and their wives, Francis X. "Butch" and Betty-Jane St. Germaine of Groveland, Mass., and Dennis F. and Rebecca St. Germaine of Newington; two daughters, Mylissa Kapela and her husband Charles of Plaistow and Lily Sibley of Amesbury, Mass.; five grandsons; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Chester Evans of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Saturday from noon to 1 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home. St. Jean, 80, formerly of East Hampstead, died Jan. 8, 2003, in a Lynn nursing home, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Lawrence, Mass., and had resided in Methuen, Haverhill, Salisbury, Mass., and Plaistow. He was educated in Lawrence and Methuen schools and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II serving in Cuba, New Zealand and Australia. Mr. St. Jean was a self-employed aluminum siding salesman and was a property manager for many years. He enjoyed cooking and playing bridge. He is survived by his wife, Mildred (Quesenberry) St. Jean; three sons, Larry St. Jean of Salisbury, Mark St. Jean of Bradford, Mass., and Gary St. Jean of Gearhart, Ore.; four daughters, Sharyl St. Jean of Salisbury, Trish St. Jean of Erwin, Tenn., Pamela Caradonna of Salem, and Debra Murphy of Raymond; six grandchildren; one sister, Rena St. Jean of Manchester; one brother, Roger St. Jean of Salem; and several nieces and nephews. Thornell, 60, of Sherwood Forest, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, at Exeter Healthcare after a brief illness. He was born March 6, 1942, in Newburyport, Mass., the son of the late William and Dorothy (Houlihan) Thornell and was raised in Amesbury, Mass. He was a graduate of Amesbury High School. Mr. Thornell was a quality control inspector for Berkshire Manufacturing and for the Henschel Corp. He was also a call fireman for the Amesbury Fire Department for 20 years. He was a member of the Polish Cub, Amesbury, for many years and was an avid sports fan. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Carol (Leathers) Thornell; one son and his wife, Jeffrey and Laurie Thornell of Bradford, Mass.; two daughters and their husbands, Lisa and Chris Leary of Plaistow and Tracy and Dave Bickum of Danville; six grandchildren; one sister, Linda Thornell of Newburyport. Calling hours will be held Monday from 10 a.m. to noon in the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home, 118 Friend St., Amesbury. Funeral services will be held Monday at noon in the funeral home. Wheelock Jr. CONCORD - Anthony C. Wheelock Jr., 37, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, after a lengthy illness. He was born Dec. 12, 1966, in Salem, Mass., the son of Anthony C. Wheelock Sr. of Beverly, Mass., and Donna Carroll of Raymond. He was a graduate of Peabody (Mass.) High School. Mr. Wheelock was a meat cutter for DeMoulas Market Basket for many years and also worked for Spaulding and Frost Cooperage, Fremont, and Hardy’s in Derry. In addition to his parents he is survived by two children, Stacia and Anthony Wheelock III; one brother, Stephen Wheelock of Raymond; one sister, Melissa Cote of Raymond; his maternal grandparents, Stephen and Virginia George of Peabody; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Thursday in the Brewitt Funeral Home, Raymond, with the Rev. Wayne Van Gundy officiating. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery, Raymond.
