Comley HAMPTON FALLS - Winthrop D. Comley, 87, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at the Medway Country Manor Nursing Home, Medway, Mass. He was born April 12, 1915, in Newburyport, Mass., the son of the late Winthrop and Helen (Delano) Comley. He resided in Harvard, Mass., and Atkinson before moving to Hampton Falls in 1984. He was a graduate of Newburyport High School. He received his bachelor of science degree in 1937 and his master’s degree in 1938 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Mr. Comley was a chemical engineer for the Lummus Corp., of New York, N.Y., traveling extensively in North America and Europe, and later for Stone & Webster of Boston, retiring in 1985 after 25 years of service. His expertise was in the heat transfer in power plants including heat transfer from nuclear power plants. He was a member and served as the chairman of the Heat Transfer Research Institute; served on the board of directors of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers; on former Gov. John E. Sununu’s Commission for the evacuation of the Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant; was a representative for the town of Hampton Falls on the Southeast Regional Solid Waste District; and a member of the Wentworth-by-the-Sea Country Club. The widower of Mary-June (Bowes) Comley, who died in 2001, he is survived by one daughter, Marcia D. Boeing of Millis, Mass.; one son, Kevin D. Comley of Camden, S.C.; four grandchildren; and one cousin. Graveside services were held Wednesday in West View Cemetery, Hampton Falls. Daly EXETER - Violet C. Daly, 87, of 26 Washington St., died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home. She was born March 3, 1915, in Boston, the daughter of the late John and Olga C. (Rasmonson) Carter Greenlaw. She resided most of her life in Haverhill, Mass., in Kensington for 12 years and in Ossipee since 1997. She was a graduate of Haverhill High School. Mrs. Daly was a former Avon sales representative for many years and had also worked at Sears Roebuck in Haverhill. The widow of Maurice S. Daly, she is survived by one daughter, Joyce Clarke of Danville; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one son, Maurice S. Daly Jr. Friends may call Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Michael Church, Front Street, Exeter. Spring burial will be in Village Cemetery, Kensington. Christine Moore HAMPSTEAD - Christine (Vaughan) Moore, 95, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, at Penacook Place. She was born March 30, 1907, in Groveland, Mass., the daughter of Harry W. and Emily (Longfellow) Moore. She had resided in Hampstead since 1937. She was a 1923 graduate of Groveland High School and a 1925 graduate of Bradford Academy. She attended the University of New Hampshire and received her bachelor of arts degree in education from Boston University. Mrs. Moore taught at the House in the Pines School in Wheaton, Mass., for one year, and then was the assistant headmistress at St. Mary’s in the Mountain, now the White Mountain School, in Bethlehem. As a child she was excused from school to deliver the Haverhill Gazette on the trolley. She was a member of Hampstead Congregational Church where she was the superintendent of the Sunday school and a member of the choir for many years. She was a member of the Leisure Hour Club of Haverhill. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Dr. Raymond E. Moore; one daughter, Susan Williams of Panama; one son and his wife, Stephen and Joan Moore of Weathersfield, Vt.; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Ye Old Cemetery, Hampstead.
