John Carter DEERFIELD - John "Johnny" Carter, 72, of 222A Raymond Road, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at Ridgewood Manor, Manchester, after a lengthy illness. He was born Sept. 9, 1930, in Winthrop, Mass., the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Jordon) Carter. He had resided in Groveland, Mass., for 20 years and had been a longtime resident of Deerfield. Mr. Carter was a truck driver for 40 years with Flying A, which became Sinclair and then Gibbs. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ruth E. (Hoey) Carter of Deerfield; four sons, Stephen Fagan of Derry, Mark Carter of Jacksonville, Fla., David Carter of Deerfield and John and Sharon Carter of Deerfield; three grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas Trask of Foxboro, Mass., and Joseph Trask of St. Cloud, Fla.; one sister, Madlean VanMater of Boston; and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, Paris Street, East Boston, Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 10 Ferry St., Concord, NH 03301. Arrangements are by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Raymond. Carol Ann Edgerly EXETER - Carol Ann Edgerly, 57, of 14 Wayland Circle, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at her home. She was born Oct. 17, 1945, in Newmarket, the daughter of Theresa (Frechette) Tattersall of Newmarket and the late Irving Edgerly. Ms. Edgerly was a cook in the dining hall at Phillips Exeter Academy for 16 years, retiring in 2002 due to illness. She enjoyed spending time with her family and crafts. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her companion of 16 years, Stephen Gingras of Exeter; four daughters, Michelle Hurteau of Exeter, Patricia Buxton of Fremont, April Patton of St. Albans, Maine, and Crystal Hurteau of Epping; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Judith Ham of Newfields, Peggy Drouin of Pittsfield and Marilyn Gamblin of Lee. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833. Arrangements were by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter. Thomas F. Hennessey MANCHESTER - Thomas F. Hennessey, 77, formerly of Atkinson and Hampstead, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, in Elliot Hospital, Manchester, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Lynn, Mass., and had resided in the Atkinson/Hampstead area for 19 years. He received his bachelor of science and master of arts degrees from Tufts University. He also attended the Columbia University School of Administrative Medicine. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve and the U.S. Maritime Service as a chief pharmacist’s mate. He served with the U.S. Army Medical Corps as a first lieutenant in the 309th Field Hospital attached to the 101st Airborne Division in Germany and France during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Hennessey ran a health care management consulting practice for 12 years until his retirement in 2000 and provided physician advocacy services to Allied Enterprises and Medical Services Corporation of Natick, Mass. He was previously a hospital management professional for more than 35 years serving as chief executive officer of Springfield Hospital, Springfield, Vt., Leonard Morse Hospital, Natick, and St. Mary’s Hospital and Medical Center, West Palm Beach, Fla. He was a member and past president of the Vermont Hospital Association; a trustee and chairman of research and development for the Massachusetts Hospital Association; a trustee of the Florida Hospital Association; a trustee and life member of the American Hospital Association; and a diplomate with Life Status of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He was a member of St. Anne Parish, Hampstead, and served as the co-director of the fund drive that built the parish addition that houses offices and religious education classrooms. He was a member of the St. Maximillian Kolbe Council, Knights of Columbus and the Hampstead Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 11254 serving as chaplain and service officer. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joan (DuPlessis) Hennessey; two sons, Brian G. Hennessey and his wife Catherine of Massachusetts, and Dustin T. Pritchett of Manchester; one daughter and her husband, Sharon R. and Michael Mabry of Florida; two granddaughters; and one sister-in-law, Lila Hennessey of Melrose, Mass. He was predeceased by one daughter, Anne C. Pritchett. Calling hours will be held Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 1 p.m. in St. Anne Church, Emerson Ave., Hampstead. Private burial will be in Swampscott, Mass. Paradis PLAISTOW - Margaret Stephanie (Drelick) Paradis, 58, of 15 Harriman Road died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at her home after a four year battle with cancer. She was born Feb. 20, 1944, Haverhill, Mass., the daughter of the late John E. and Frances (Bizur) Drelick, and had resided in Plaistow for 31 years. She was educated in Sacred Hearts Grammar School and Haverhill High School. Mrs. Paradis was a special education teachers aide for the Timberlane Regional School District for 20 years. She enjoyed walking, cooking, birds, gardening, woodworking, traveling, crocheting, collecting butterfly memorabilia and walks along the ocean. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Elwood K. Paradis Jr. of Plaistow, a son and his wife, Michael S. and Susan L. Paradis of Nottingham; three daughters and their husbands, Deborah A. and Michael A. Caputo of Fremont, Kathy L. and William I. Mayo Jr. of Raymond, and Pamela J. and Richard E. Arnold Jr. of Raymond; seven grandchildren; four brothers, Robert Drelick of Plaistow, Stephen Drelick of Salem, Edward Drelick of Candia and Stanley Drelick of Effingham; four sisters, Janet Fauth of Groveland, Mass., Diana LaRuffa and Kathy Pollano, both of Haverhill, and Andrea Spencer of Alabama. She was predeceased by one sister, Roberta Drelick. Funeral services were held Wednesday in the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, Haverhill. Burial was in Plaistow Cemetery.
