Hickey PLAISTOW - Alice M. (Penno) Hickey, 71, of Plaistow, died Sunday, April 6, 2003 at her residence following a long illness. She was born in Malden, Mass., and raised in Reading, Mass. Mrs. Hickey graduated Reading Memorial High School. A 43-year resident of Plaistow, she formerly lived in Wakefield, Mass. for several years. She worked for many years as a waitress at the former Sawyer’s Restaurant and Sawyer’s Banquet Facility in Plaistow and also as a secretary at Barron’s T.V. and the Village Coin Shop. She last worked as a bookkeeper at Marshall’s Department Store. Mrs. Hickey is survived by her husband of 51 years, Thomas F. Hickey; two sons, Michael T. Hickey and his wife Monique of Medford, Mass., and Kevin J. Hickey and his wife Susan of York, Maine; a daughter, Denise A. Huber and her husband Paul; two brothers, Robert Penno of Epping and Richard Penno of Plymouth, Mass.; a sister, Barbara Duggan of Belmont, Mass.; eight grandchildren; one uncle; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are by the Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, Plaistow. Edward A. Thompson RAYMOND - Edward A. Thompson, 79, of Nottingham Road, died Monday, April 7, 2003 at his home. He was born March 10, 1924 in Manchester and was raised by the late William and Bertha (Dunn) Bond. He was a longtime resident of Raymond. He attended Raymond schools and was a graduate of the New Hampshire Technical Institute in Manchester. Mr. Thompson was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps as a mechanic on B-17s and helping to train flight crews. He was a member and adjutant of the American Legion Post 90 of Raymond. His professional career spanned the early development of the electronics industry, beginning with DeMambro Electronics of Manchester/Boston. He was employed for 25 years with the Kemet Division of Union Carbide in Needham and Stoneham, Mass. He was New England Regional Sales Manager at the time of his retirement in 1987. Mr. Thompson served the town of Raymond as town moderator, school moderator, as a member and former chairman of the Raymond School Board, and served for 34 years on the Raymond Volunteer Fire Department. He was an active member of the Raymond United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Charlena (Littlefield) Thompson of Raymond; a daughter, Ann L. Harris of Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.; two sons, Edward A. Thompson of Chelmsford, Mass., and Donald S. Thompson of Bedford, Mass.; a sister, Jannett Durkee of Old Saybrook, Conn.; a brother, Robert P. Cammett of Andover, Mass.; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Raymond Methodist Church, On the Common. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Raymond. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Raymond Methodist Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Lesure, 74, of East Hampstead, died April 1, 2003 at his home following a long illness. He was born in Lynn, Mass., and attended schools there and in Barre, Mass. He was a graduate of the U.S. Maritime Training Station at Sheepshead Bay, N.Y. and served in the U.S. Merchant Marine during World War II. Mr. Lesure worked for several years as the manager of the RCA Service Center in Portland, Maine and other parts of the New England area, and at the time of his retirement in 1994 was employed for 24 years as a sound technician for WCRB of Waltham. A resident of East Hampstead since 1965, Mr. Lesure was a former member of the Haverhill Lodge of Elks. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Billie (Murray) Lesure; a son, Roy F. Lesure Jr. of East Hampstead; two daughters, Joan Vigeant and her husband Maurice of Derry and Kathleen Drouin and her husband Michael of Deerfield; a sister, Ellen Gonder of Delray Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral was held Saturday and burial followed in West Hampstead Cemetery. Arrangements were by the Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, Plaistow. George W. Ellison BARRINGTON - George W. Ellison, 87, of Ambleside Park, died Monday, April 7, 2003 at his home in Barrington. He was born July 3, 1915 in Barrington, the son of the late Walter and Alta (Glover) Ellison. He was a lifelong resident of Barrington. Mr. Ellison worked in the area lumber mills as a roller for many years, and had worked for Woody Sherburne, George Green, Johnson Lumber, and Valentine Mathes. Mr. Ellison is survived by a son, William Ellison of Nottingham; two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Shirley) Libby of Rochester, and Mrs. Beverly Ann Lee of Barrington; and 15 grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sons, George E. Ellison and Gordon Ellison who died in 2002; two brothers, Chester Ellison and Charles Ellison; and two sisters, Thelma Dionne and Elizabeth Hartford. Funeral services were held Thursday and Pastor Gail Kindberg of the Lee Church Congregational officiated. Burial followed in Lee Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, Newmarket.
