Amazeen EAST KINGSTON - Helen E. Amazeen, 87, of 83 South Road, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at Exeter Healthcare, Inc. She was born April 8, 1916, in Exeter, the daughter of the late Chester and Abbie (Currier) Thyng. She resided in Plaistow for many years, moving to East Kingston in 1946. She was a graduate of Haverhill (Mass.) High School and Keene Normal School. Mrs. Amazeen taught school in Kingston and Brentwood for more than 30 years. She was a member of the East Kingston Community Church and of the Retired Teachers Association of New Hampshire. The widow of Vernon E. Amazeen, her husband of 61 years, she is survived by two sons, Stephen E. Amazeen of Auburn and Bruce E. Amazeen of Ipswich, Mass.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Barbara A. Parker of Topsfield, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one sister, Eleoise E. Chaloner. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to the East Kingston Community United Methodist Church, 34 Depot Road, East Kingston, NH 03827. McCarthy RAYMOND - Gerald Richard McCarthy, 66, of Main Street, died Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at the Lahey Clinic, Burlington, Mass., after a lengthy illness. He was born in Lowell, Mass., the son of Gladys (Williams) McCarthy of Lowell and the late Frank McCarthy and had resided in North Andover, Mass., for many years before moving to Raymond 10 years ago. He was a graduate of Lowell High School and was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany as a heavy equipment mechanic. Mr. McCarthy was a mechanic in the Lawrence/North Andover area. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed the beach, mountains and his motor home. He liked working with wood and enjoyed flying piper cubs and twin Cherokee airplanes. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 28 years, Cynthia (Cousins) McCarthy of Raymond; one daughter, Cindy Gibby of Raymond; one son, Tona McCarthy of Raymond; three grandchildren; five brothers, Ed McCarthy of Tyngsboro, Mass., Daniel McCarthy of Beaver Falls, Pa., David McCarthy of Chelmsford, Mass., Richard McCarthy of Hudson and Frank McCarthy of Lowell; five sisters, Virginia Cogan of Tewksbury, Mass., Eloise Kenner of Miami, Fla., Mary Pincence of Lowell, Dorithy Moore of Elphareta, Ga., and Kathleen Taylor of North Haven, Conn. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday in St. Joseph Church, Epping, with the Rev. Mike Taylor as celebrant. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Epping. McClure KINGSTON - Roger A. McClure, 98, of Mill Road, died Saturday, June 7, 2003, in Merrimack Valley Hospital, Haverhill, Mass. He was born in Rowley, Mass., was raised in Canada and had resided in Kingston for many years. In his younger years he maintained a summer residence on Lake Champlain in St. Stephen’s, Canada. He was educated in Canadian schools and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving as a sergeant. Mr. McClure retired from the local shoe industry and had owned and operated an egg farm in Kingston several years ago. He was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church Parish in Newton and a former member of Holy Angels Parish of Plaistow. He was an avid bowler and former member of area bowling leagues. The widower of Mary Rose (Wicker) McClure, he is survived by nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. in Holy Angles Church, Plaistow. Friends may call on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow. Burial will be in Holy Angels Cemetery.
